It looks like they're setting it up to play a bigger role than in the books. Stannis never went to Bravos himself, and the Lannisters didn't run out of money so early. But since there's a war and it needs money, I'm guessing that's the iron bank comes to. As for his character, IIRC we only met a representative of the bank who came to Westeros and went to the wall with an offer to support Stannis because the throne had refused to pay its debts.
His character is fairly minor in the books, but the Iron Bank itself has a menacing reputation and is knowing for being vicious about collecting their debts! Their words are "The Iron Bank will have its due"....
They will have their due one way or another! If people (even royals) owe them for too long they often disappear or get killed and replaced by a person that will pay the debt.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I'm intrigued by the iron bank since I haven't read the books I wonder what his character is like?
ReplyDeleteGOT, Sherlock and Doctor Who. He's a geek omnipresence.
ReplyDeleteThere's the new Star Wars coming up, maybe he'll show up there as well LOL.

ReplyDeleteWhere's his giant hat?
ReplyDeleteIt doubles as a nice introduction to Braavos since a certain someone should be going there at season's end!
ReplyDeleteThey way they have written the Dornish and Braavosi will set up the new locations for next season nicely I think.
