FOX also Passes Over its Remaining Pilots

According to deadline, FOX has also passed on it's remaining pilots. The most surprising of the lot is Cabot College, which had a series commitment. The others include comedy Sober Companion and dramas The Middle Man, Home and Runner.
Cabot College and Sober Companion?! Boo. Go home, FOX, you're drunk.

ReplyDeleteThat was ordered direct to series. I believe it's being viewed as a limited series, like "24: Live Another Day" and "Wayward Pines".
ReplyDeletePretty all the pilots which have not been ordered on the networks yet are passed on, unless the networks have a change of heart.

ReplyDeleteThe only question with Gracepoint gand Wayward Pines are when will Fox air them. I think the original play was to air Wayward Pines this July but that is not happening.
ReplyDeleteEvery year there seems to be one or two that will come back into play after upfronts, if I remember correctly. Like Bad Teacher last season. There's like three I have this year and I'm hoping one of them stays alive. Although the only time it's ever happened to a pilot I was excited about was Point Pleasant and that ended up being meh.

ReplyDeleteYes, I have been wondering about Wayward Pines, maybe they have bumped it to the 2014/2015 schedule?
ReplyDeleteDid you ever see the remaining episodes of Point Pleasant? The first 4 were not so good. 5 through 7 were better, and 8 was the best. FOX pulled the series in the States after 8. But it was popular in Europe, they got all 11 that were broadcast. The creators added a pretty good unaired episode and filmed a 13th for the dvd.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I have it on DVD. :) The execution left a lot to be desired perhaps, but it was a great guilty pleasure. And it inspired me in a lot of ways to write, after finishing it I plotted out a TV show I hope to write someday and so it'll always be special to me eve n if it's just because it got my imagination going back in the day. (And st that point I'd only been keeping up with TV for a couple of years which can maybe explain that)
ReplyDeleteHuh? PP had finished all episodes when the show was canceled. They didn't film an episode specifically for the DVD.
ReplyDeleteNot so, go to IMBD for the story. Two episodes were never aired, check tv.com. In the States, it was pulled after episode 8 "Swimming With Boyd". That episode hooked me, unfortunately that was the last shown here. FOX never broadcast the remaining episodes.
ReplyDeleteIt was popular in parts of Europe, especially Sweden. They got got 11 aired. They were filming the 12th episode, when they got the cancellation notice, and they change the ending a little. They added the 13th episode, to give an ending to the series. The 13th was planned, but when they got cancelled, they completely rewrote it. They filmed it knowing it was for the dvd. They did leave a little opening, for a possible pickup from someone else, which never happened.
