  3. I, for one, LOVED last night's episode of Supernatural. It deserved higher ratings than this. This is why I hate when we get preempted! But next week's episode (the season finale!!!) will be at least a 1.0, I hope.

  4. Season finale for Supernatural is next week.

  5. Only in the irrelevant total viewers department, and even there, 1.74 vs. 1.76 is virtually meaningless.

  6. AoS deserved to adjust up more than one tenth... I always say that, but the finale especially was utterly amazing. I can't believe this show is so underrated both figuratively and literally. It better come back strong in the fall.

  7. We have to stop to accuse preemptions, spn used to get higher ratings even with preemptions.
The story sucks, that's why people are giving up.

  8. Actually, and correct me if I'm wrong, but since the demo was the same, I think the fact that it had a higher in total viewers actually does mean it did better.

  9. Ha! It's only taken me 10 years but I think I'm finally getting the hang of this ratings thing....

  10. Technically, yes, but it doesn't mean anything de-facto since total viewers aren't usually a determinant of a show's success. If we're measuring how well they actually did and not just the numbers, we should only look at the demo and they're tied there. Additionally, as I said, the difference in total viewers is very minor.

  11. They way I understand how this works, and again please correct me if I'm wrong, is that the demo is the fraction of the sweet-spot age range in viewers each show gets. So mathematically speaking if the demo is the same then the total viewership should be factored in, no?

  12. Agreed. That was my favorite finale so far this year.

  13. Well, again, you're correct - The Originals rated a bit higher than SPN, because they were tied in the demo and TO had a slightly higher number of overall viewers. It's just that it's a bit of data that doesn't have any practical meaning. It's not like these two shows are in competition anyway, because both have been guaranteed a renewal from the beginning of the season, but if they were tied in the demo all season, for example, they would be considered to have performed the same even if TO had twice as many viewers as SPN.
