Dracula could have worked as a television drama but their approach just didn't fit the theme. Not that I'm not welcoming innovative storytelling but there's innovative and then there's too much. Dracula was on of the classic 'too much' examples.
If they would have taken a horror approach with revealing one of Draculas villainous schemes to win over the girl and defeating his enemies that would have worked for sure. The sci-fi approach just didn't do it.
This is one of those rare moments where it's not a terrible thing that a series was cancelled. Dracula had always felt like a stepping stone of just introducing the characters and the ten-episode series fits in that way where by the end of the series, the pieces look like they're in place to show the audience what could be with the struggle between Dracula and Van Helsing and with that, I'm not too upset over this cancellation. Would I love to see more? Yes, and I was a fan of the series, but what those ten episodes did give us was something that the imaginary mind could think of what else can happen.
Ehhh…Grimm is decent, lol. I'm not a huge fan of the show myself, but it's certainly watchable on Fridays when there's nothing else for me to watch until Hannibal.
Creative, but wouls Hannibal be turned into a vampire after eating one? If we find the answer to that, we may solve the mystery: "will we have an immortal vampiric bear next season going after our shows?"
I expected this one. I am going to miss it but honestly, I don't think there was too much left to say after this season. I'll consider the show as a nice mini-series, which is what I think it should have been in the first place.
I was referring to the shows I follow, not sure how many are still left without renewal or cancellation. I lost 8 shows this year, more twice the amount of last year.
Where else could they take the show after all Dracula comes back too life then heads to London. Then falls in love with a dead ringer of his late wife who is getting married to another guy. Dracula also realizes that the Order of The Dragon is still around so Dracula plans and gets revenge in the mean time and gets the girl called Minna too fall in love with Dracula. Other then they were on the wrong network where else could they take this story line??
Me too, I was content with the way it ended. With season 2, and onward we would of just had more unnecessary drama, and even then I was able to see where it would of all lead up to. so I with you bear.
I'm actually hoping for 13 episodes for Constantine and for it to be a bit more serialized than procedural and for me the Grimm/Constantine, then Grimm/Hannibal combos would be perfect for Fridays.
I vote for Constantine in the fall with a 13 episode run (I think it would benefit from a shorter episode count) and Hannibal again in the Winter/Spring.
No, not really. It was boring after all, and the tvgod knows I kept watching because of Lady Jayne and Lucy. So, they killed off LJ, Lucy only got like 10 second screen time, because yeah no biggie when turning into a vampire. (Ah, don't let me even start ranting about that again.) So no, I won't miss it.
Indeed. On the point with the 13 episode idea too. I mean, it appears that Gotham is getting a 13 episode first season and I think it would be beneficial for Constantine as well.
I'm sorry for all of you fans, i feel your pain. So far i've lost 3 series: Almost Human, Believe, & Revolution. But i gave Dracula a chance. Love story central theme- check, vampire environmentalist- check, avoid like the plague- check.
btw -- he is changing -- if you haven't seen the show please don't say stuff that ain't true /// the eyes is only the beggining // he is ''fully'' changing .. !!! check first , speak later , thanks !
Ok, that is a little uglier than shiny eyes and a scar, but it is not a monstrosity. That aside, he doesn't look like that all the time. Only when he transforms or whatever. So the conflict of a beautiful woman being attracted to a full time monster despite his looks got lost there. The whole original idea of a gorgeous woman looking at a deformed, monster-like face and being able to see what is underneath is just not here. Most of the time she looks at him and he looks handsome.
first of all ... thank you for understanding my point ... second of all if you were checking the cast and the writers you would understand that they made it clear since day one that probably one of the ''few'' things that they took from the old series is the title --- I'm a fan of this show ( i won't hide behind my finger ) so i've seen a lot of interviews and stuff , in which pretty much everyone was saying that they didn't wanted to go like the old series ... they all loved the old series and knew that this would be fair ... so they changed it ... as for the

I think it's there , I mean all the crimes Vincent has done ( still doing sometimes )... the fact that he can't control it well when it happens and stuff ... I think it's not only about how he looks -- that's an ugly thing as well , right ?--- 'cause being ''ugly'' can have many meanings ( I hope I explained that right -- english is not my mother language , sorry about that )
and last but not least -- who knows ? -- maybe the writers turn him into a ''full time'' beast next season :) :)
I have to be honest -- I haven't seen the old movies ... I wasn't even alive ! so I don't know what was happening in the old version ... I only know what is happening now -- thank you for your reply :) and have a nice day :)
You have a pretty valid point: " 'cause being ''ugly'' can have many meanings". I don't watch the show and nowadays I am pretty annoyed that nobody is allowed to be butt ugly, even beasts and vampires need to be hot, but this aside, the world is more superficial and maybe they wouldn't get the ratings (which they are already struggling for) if he were really beastly, so it is a "know your audience and Market" element. Have a nice day too!
sorry to get in your way , again :) --- but just when we were talking about it ! look ! --- full time beast is coming ... i'll finally see a very importand ( as it turned out ) element of the first series that you were talking about :)
-- >> Finally breaking free of Muirfield, manhunts and beasts, Detective Catherine Chandler (Kristin Kreuk) and Vincent Keller (Jay Ryan) are able to focus on their love. However, that love will be tested as new and more dangerous threats await. When they learn that innocent victims are being used to test the boundaries of the impossible, Cat and Vincent will uncover a deeper conspiracy, one which Vincent can fight only by turning to the beast he carries within. But unleashing the beast will risk Vincent’s life – along with his and Cat's love – as they struggle to build a normal life together
that show's not related to the vampire novel and movies though :) That one's about witch trials while Salem's Lot is about a vampire slowly taking over a small town
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I feel a little better now.
ReplyDeleteAnd then there was one...
ReplyDeleteWhy did this take like forever to cancel?
ReplyDeleteNo, I won't.
ReplyDeleteHa.
ReplyDeleteWill you become a vampire now? A live cancellation bear is trouble enough, an undead one can become a monstrosity.
ReplyDeleteI've been busy cancelling a lot of other shows. Try doing my job! Things take a while.
ReplyDeleteWill I miss it ? Not a bit.
ReplyDeleteDracula could have worked as a television drama but their approach just didn't fit the theme. Not that I'm not welcoming innovative storytelling but there's innovative and then there's too much. Dracula was on of the classic 'too much' examples.

I don't think so. Has a vampire ever been canibalized? What happens next? Maybe we should ask Hannibal.
ReplyDeleteThis news leaves little room for doubt where NBC will be putting Constantine in the fall.
ReplyDeleteBecoming a sparkly vampire bear doesn't appeal to me.
ReplyDeleteWhy sparkly?
ReplyDeleteIt's like eating leftovers -not with enthusiasm and always the next day. :)

ReplyDeleteFridays should be Grimm/Constantine and then Grimm/Hannibal. In fact, I wouldn't mind 13 episodes per season for Constantine at all.
ReplyDeleteBecause that's the way vampires roll now.
ReplyDeleteHannibal would make a Vampire-Sushi out of it.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't mind that combination, not a Grimm fanatic but the promise of Constantine would lure me in as a viewer
ReplyDeleteMTI.
ReplyDeleteEhhh…Grimm is decent, lol. I'm not a huge fan of the show myself, but it's certainly watchable on Fridays when there's nothing else for me to watch until Hannibal.

ReplyDeleteCreative, but wouls Hannibal be turned into a vampire after eating one?
ReplyDeleteIf we find the answer to that, we may solve the mystery: "will we have an immortal vampiric bear next season going after our shows?"
Oh, yes, the world is a sad place nowadays. Twilight and all.
ReplyDeleteVampires are supposed to be scary.
Holy crap, that GIF is terrifying!
ReplyDeleteNow, THAT is how a vampire is supposed to look like.
ReplyDeleteHe may become a vampire but fear not, Will will cut off his head in the series finale 5 yrs from now. :)
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly.
ReplyDeleteYou want scary vampires. Not to worry. The Strain is coming.
ReplyDeleteDid I miss the gif? Where's it? I WANT to see
ReplyDeleteJust under mac's post, press on "see more" in Disqus and it will show the remainder of his post, which includes a terrifying GIF at the end :P :)
ReplyDeleteWon't miss it, it managed to make vampires boring which is like a number one sin!
ReplyDeleteNo surprise there, i stopped after the second episode..
ReplyDeleteAhhh, okay.
ReplyDeleteThe Strain takes a completely different context for me, so, I don't know who you're talking about ;)
ReplyDeleteI expected this one. I am going to miss it but honestly, I don't think there was too much left to say after this season. I'll consider the show as a nice mini-series, which is what I think it should have been in the first place.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm going to miss it. Sky UK, now would be the time to say something...
ReplyDeleteDon't forget that the production for season 2 has begun. http://www.spoilertv.com/2014/04/dracula-renewed-for-2nd-season.html
ReplyDeleteCannot wait for that show!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.spoilertv.com/2014/04/dracula-renewed-for-2nd-season.html
ReplyDeleteYeah, they can announce that they will air Supernatural now that they have an open space and there is no channel showing it here anymore.
ReplyDeleteI will. :')
ReplyDeleteAaand there goes my last show *bangs head against desk* at least the cancellations are over now
ReplyDeleteUnless Parenthood.
ReplyDeleteNBC may not air it but you can watch online once the episodes become available and that is what i will do lol
ReplyDeleteThis sucks!!!! Loved it.......
ReplyDeletewhy do i even bother watching tv... I lost ouatiw, star-crossed & now dracula. Now I only have bitten to worry about. :"(
ReplyDeleteI'm kinda ok with this. The ending was closure enough.
ReplyDeleteI was referring to the shows I follow, not sure how many are still left without renewal or cancellation.
ReplyDeleteI lost 8 shows this year, more twice the amount of last year.
i'm confused .If the show has been cancelled, why would there be production for season 2?
ReplyDeleteThe show is a co-production, NBC may have pulled out but the international company can produce and air it.
ReplyDeletethat's a big "if".
ReplyDeleteSo you took my offering.
ReplyDeleteNo, the number one sin is making them sparkle.
ReplyDeleteHadn't this been renewed already? I remember being surprised by it...
ReplyDeleteWhere else could they take the show after all Dracula comes back too life then heads to London. ReplyDeleteI will! I really enjoyed that show!
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful news!! Where can I watch new episodes? BBC America?
ReplyDeleteWell since you asked, no I will not miss it. Here's hoping Grimm gets paired with an awesome show next season.
ReplyDeleteHa! Can't disagree with you there. Perhaps boring vampires are the #2 sin.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to like it more than I actually did. It's no surprise they cancelled it, but it's still a shame.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually hoping for 13 episodes for Constantine and for it to be a bit more serialized than procedural and for me the Grimm/Constantine, then Grimm/Hannibal combos would be perfect for Fridays.
ReplyDeleteI think 'vegetarian vampires' (who eat animal and not human) should be up there too.
ReplyDeleteI vote for Constantine in the fall with a 13 episode run (I think it would benefit from a shorter episode count) and Hannibal again in the Winter/Spring.
ReplyDeleteThere is already a Salem's Lot show.... just saying

ReplyDeleteall I know of are the 1979 TV 2 parter, the sh*tty sequel from '85 and the two parter with Rob Lowe and Rutger Hauer.
ReplyDeletewhat show are you talking about ?
Indeed. On the point with the 13 episode idea too. I mean, it appears that Gotham is getting a 13 episode first season and I think it would be beneficial for Constantine as well.
