Billy Eichner is expanding his comedy brand to the USA Network.
The Emmy-nominated Billy on the Street host is teaming with longtime friend and head writer Julie Klausner (Mulaney) to create and star in a scripted comedy for USA, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
In Difficult People, which Eichner and Klausner created, the duo star as frustrated comedians and pop culture-loving best friends living in New York City who hate everyone -- except each other.
USA has ordered a pilot presentation for the half-hour comedy -- similar to how Eliza Coupe starrer Benched started. (That pilot presentation went on to earn a series order.) Klausner will pen the script for Difficult People. Amy Poehler will executive produce the comedy, which hails from Universal Cable Productions. Dave Becky of 3 Arts also will exec produce alongside Michele Armou
