I was so, so sure that Community would be renewed again! I simply can't believe this is happening! Please: A) Be a mistake B) Let another network pick it up C) Let Netflix or another streaming service pick it up!
Hulu (it's one of their most-streamed shows), Comedy Central (it's on syndication there), SOMEONE pick up the show. I AM NOT READY TO LET THIS SHOW GO.
Something must have gone wrong in the last week or so because most insiders/tv critics felt like it had a good chance of coming back then suddenly the last 24 hrs was doom and gloom.
I mean S5 was a step up from S4 in terms of quality though I didn't enjoy the last few eps that much I still wanted a S6. This is such a shame.
I think Netflix and Hulu are the safiest choice for its future. Damn it! I was so sure it would be renewed again! The bastards even said a S6 was likely at TCA! DAMN IT NBC!
Comedy Central could be a decent spot too since its been on syndication there. As long as it lives on somewhere.
What I don't get why Parks & Rec was definitely going to be renewed, and Community hovering with the same ratings and almost on as long wasn't definitely going to be renewed. They both benefited from each other and remained fairly consistent, which is like the only thing NBC has going for it.
If we don't see anything in the future, it has been a pleasure discussing Community with you in your reviews. As for me... I'm going to go prepare for the impending meteor... it's canon.
cancellation bear you are just so funny:) i have read your other comments here and on other post and it wouldnt surprise me if you happend to be a real bear :P sure you dont want to be a stand up comedian instead of eating tv shows ;)
Hannibal is good, but I don't love it like everyone else. And Blacklist is fine, not a must watch for me, but I'd take Community over it in a heartbeat
We better do, but before that let's hope that the meteor is stopped by the laser machine, may it be the one called Netflix, Hulu or Comedy Central. It just can't end like this.
I have also liked discussing the show with you, I hope we get the chance to keep doing it, but we must be ready for doomsday anyway
I'm already plotting my Revenge on you, you will fall CancellationBear, but first you will suffer, just as you did when Beauty and The Beast was renewed!
You know how I know that we are in the darkest timeline? BaTB gets to continue and Community doesn't. I know, why don't we forget that The CW ever renewed BaTB and they can save community and air that instead!
I shall quote Jeff Winger (mostly): "[Community] still might find a second life on cable." At the very least, be happy that we got the pleasure of viewing one of the greatest comedies. And as the title of the opening number suggests: At Least It Was Here.
I hope some other network Chang's this, otherwise my whole I-Dean-tity will be torn asunder, and that's not nice; I guess we have stumbled into the darkest timeline; NBC is cruel, cruel cruel cruel, they totally Britta'd it.
Now excuse me while I go cry in a bathroom singing Butterfly in the Sky.
TvLine eleborated - There’s no official word from the Peacock but sources confirm that the show’s April 17 Season 5 finale will end up being itsseries finale — unless, of course, Sony finds a new home for the Greendale gang.
What is with them prematurely depressing people just so they can be first?
I don't watch it but I still think it deserved to stay way more than other shows like Beauty and the Beast (I know that's on the CW). Does it have a proper conlusion at least?
Don't worry, with the onlinem edia buzz this show has, Sony will find another place for Community in nothing(Comedy Central, Hulu, Netflix(ONE HOPES!), TBS, etc).
>What I don't get why Parks & Rec was definitely going to be renewed, and Community hovering with the same ratings and almost on as long wasn't definitely going to be renewed.
P&R is produced by NBC, so they get syndication rights, dvds etc. Community is produced by Sony, so NBC only gets the ad money.
Sometimes shows just have to get cancelled, none of the shows that are on now would ever live out 10 seasons would they these days, with money cuts and stuff.
Nope. The one character that plays the line between staying in the show's universe and breaking the fourth wall said in one episode that if the show isn't renewed, the audience should assume that the reason is because an asteroid hit Earth and killed everybody, but he just likes to pretend that life is a TV show; nothing he says actually holds that kind of weight.
So it got a "proper conclusion" if you take what that character said to heart, but even that wouldn't really fit as "proper". :P
It was time for Community to go. I was excited when the show was sort of rebooted at the beginning of season 5 and Mark Marmon returned as it showrunner. I thought that after the Re-Pilot, which I really enjoyed, the show was going to be infused with renewed energy and vitality. Unfortunately it fell flat by episode 3. I struggled through season 5, I actually had the show running on the background while I did things more interesting than watching (like washing the dishes or vacuuming the carpet). Overall I find that season 4 (not run by Harmon) was funnier and more entertaining than season 5. I'd like to see Joel McHale pursuing other endeavours, he is talented, handsome and sexy as hell.
I don't know how to feel, on the one hand Hannibal is coming back (which is awesome not only because the show is the best network drama, but also because Bryan Fuller finally has a show that got past two seasons), but I'm also really, really sad and angry over the death of Community and Greendale.
If it wasn't for the exclusive digital rights syndication deal the show has with Hulu, it would probably get picked up by Netflix or Amazon prime (like AD or Ripper Street).
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I think this is going to make people upset.
ReplyDeleteFUCK! FUCK! FUCK!
ReplyDeleteNoooooooooooo !
ReplyDeleteWell I guess Dan Harmon should start the kickstarter campaign for the movie.
ReplyDelete#sixseasonsanda...ohg*ddamnitNBCscrewyou
ReplyDeleteSorry for the fans.So much for six seasons and a movie!!
ReplyDelete#NoSixSeasonsAndAMovie
ReplyDeleteperhaps fans should start tweeting five seasons and a movie
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! That's the worst possible cancellation this season.. Damn NBC!!
ReplyDeleteWell, that is sad. Netflix, HULU, anybody
ReplyDeleteFUUUUUUUUUUCK!! @CancellationBear must be orgasmic right now. :P ;)
ReplyDeleteNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
ReplyDeleteAt least they renewed Hannibal tho
We were so close to 6 seasons! It can't be...!
ReplyDeleteNBC, WHAT ARE YOU DOING!
Please, Netflix, please pick it up!
Deep effing sigh.
ReplyDeleteThe first show I've lost this season. Boo.
I feel bad for the fans.
ReplyDeleteNow this irks me...
ReplyDeleteConsider this punishment just for the possibility of taking Revolution from me.
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOOOO! WHY! This one hurts, this one hurts REAL BAD!
ReplyDeleteSeason 5 had been SO GOOD!!!! ='( WHY!!! WHY NBC!!!!
I was so, so sure that Community would be renewed again!
ReplyDeleteI simply can't believe this is happening!
Please:
A) Be a mistake
B) Let another network pick it up
C) Let Netflix or another streaming service pick it up!
Hulu (it's one of their most-streamed shows), Comedy Central (it's on syndication there), SOMEONE pick up the show. I AM NOT READY TO LET THIS SHOW GO.
ReplyDeleteI sign up for the hunting party. ;) :)
ReplyDeleteMust taste good to finally get this one in you gullet I bet!
ReplyDeleteIt has eluded you for years
And I'm back to hating NBC. Seriously? Seriously? Just... I don't... fuck NBC. I hope the entire network burns for this.
ReplyDeleteCan we get Netflix or Hulu to pick it or something? Maybe just go to a movie?
Guys, I think we need a Renewal Bear asap.
ReplyDeleteJust follow the trail of cancelled shows.
ReplyDeleteLet's hope it suffers indigestion. It snatched Revolution too.
ReplyDeleteNO #SixSeasonsAndAMovie then DAMN!
ReplyDeleteSomething must have gone wrong in the last week or so because most insiders/tv critics felt like it had a good chance of coming back then suddenly the last 24 hrs was doom and gloom.
ReplyDeleteI mean S5 was a step up from S4 in terms of quality though I didn't enjoy the last few eps that much I still wanted a S6. This is such a shame.
We have to follow Parenthood...
ReplyDeleteI think Netflix and Hulu are the safiest choice for its future.
ReplyDeleteDamn it! I was so sure it would be renewed again! The bastards even said a S6 was likely at TCA!
DAMN IT NBC!
I am miserable. Still was by far the best comedy on NBC. Hope all new comedies fail!
ReplyDeleteTrail? So, we're looking for failed careers and future bad choices by writers/actors :P ;) :)
ReplyDeleteyou got revolution now!!
ReplyDeleteIt just might give indigestion since both shows were beyond their expiration date last year far as I'm concerned! XD
ReplyDeleteScrew you NBC! First Revolution and now this!
ReplyDeleteLiam Neeson vs. The Cancellation Bear. I think I've just stumbled upon the plot for Taken 3.
ReplyDeleteJust because Neeson took on wolves doesn't mean he is capable of taking down a bear.
ReplyDeleteJust one more canceled show and I level up to Dovahbear. Bring it on.
ReplyDeleteI used to dislike NBC, but now I like them. Hannibal and The Blacklist.
ReplyDeleteLiam Neeson - "I have a very specific set of skills"
ReplyDeleteCancellationBear - "Burrrrrp! Me too."
Was worried this would happen... tis a shame when most comedies these days are just total garbage.
ReplyDeleteAs dessert. :)
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
ReplyDeleteWe were sooooo close.
ReplyDeleteOh I like this game. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!
ReplyDeleteHahahahahahahhahahaha.
ReplyDeleteComedy Central could be a decent spot too since its been on syndication there. As long as it lives on somewhere.
ReplyDeleteWhat I don't get why Parks & Rec was definitely going to be renewed, and Community hovering with the same ratings and almost on as long wasn't definitely going to be renewed. There's a little Chevy Chase aftertaste there. Tastes toxic. Not so happy about that, huh?
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame! Season 5 was pretty good and I was certain that this little show would get renewed again. I hope someone else picks it up!
ReplyDeleteUgh....I was hoping for at least another 13 ep season to finish up and maybe let everyone else graduate.
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, we've dodged this bullet for years. It's sad but we got more than we probably should have.
ReplyDeleteThat is a downside yes.
ReplyDeletenoooooooOOOOOOOOO ! WTF ?? I love the show !! I really hate this time of year !!!
ReplyDeleteHannibal is good, but I don't love it like everyone else. And Blacklist is fine, not a must watch for me, but I'd take Community over it in a heartbeat
ReplyDeleteWe better do, but before that let's hope that the meteor is stopped by the laser machine, may it be the one called Netflix, Hulu or Comedy Central.

The darkest timeline, it caught up to us.
ReplyDeleteThis is just so much more fun.
ReplyDelete5 Seasons And A Movie?
ReplyDeletei hate you for eating 666 park avenue last year so i will find you and hunt you down.
ReplyDeleteTo say that I'm disgusted by this is an understatement!!!!! :(
ReplyDeleteRenewal Rhinoceros :P
ReplyDeleteAre you kiddinng me?? Fuuuuuucccckkk. I put all in that Dan Harmon will get the show to be host on Netflix or Hulu. Probably on Hulu.
ReplyDeleteWhat is happening right now? Come on, guys!
ReplyDeleteHell Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! :(
ReplyDeleteThe bear just cut a bloody swath through a bunch of shows and people's feelings.
ReplyDeleteI'm already plotting my Revenge on you, you will fall CancellationBear, but first you will suffer, just as you did when Beauty and The Beast was renewed!
ReplyDeleteYou know how I know that we are in the darkest timeline? BaTB gets to continue and Community doesn't. I know, why don't we forget that The CW ever renewed BaTB and they can save community and air that instead!
ReplyDeleteNOOOOO, WHAT THE HELL. D:

There's still more to come.
ReplyDeleteMaybe just a special to wrap things up? Like they do on some of the UK comedies like Extras?
ReplyDeleteTvLine eleborated - There’s no official word from the Peacock but sources confirm that the show’s April 17 Season 5 finale will end up being itsseries finale — unless, of course, Sony finds a new home for the Greendale gang.
ReplyDeleteWhat is with them prematurely depressing people just so they can be first?
Seriously? It was almost season 6!
ReplyDeleteI don't watch it but I still think it deserved to stay way more than other shows like Beauty and the Beast (I know that's on the CW).
ReplyDeleteDoes it have a proper conlusion at least?
But but but #sixseasonsandamovie!! Stop being killjoys NBC. Do a truncated season and give us a movie!
ReplyDeleteNot cool cool cool!
ReplyDeleteOhhh maaan!!! Só sad :(
ReplyDeleteWhy in the world would you let Mindy get away and eat Community alive????
ReplyDeleteI pray that Hulu or Netflix or even Amazon will pick up the sixth season.
ReplyDelete#Six Seaons and a f*cking movie!!!!! Come on NBC you had it right in front of you!!!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, with the onlinem edia buzz this show has, Sony will find another place for Community in nothing(Comedy Central, Hulu, Netflix(ONE HOPES!), TBS, etc).
ReplyDeleteWe will have #sixseasonsandamovie!
This really made me sad. I guess that an asteroid has just destroyed all
ReplyDeletehuman civilization :(
I suspect this show will find it's closure one way or another in time.
ReplyDeleteStill sad to see it go.
what the FUCK!!!!
ReplyDelete#darkesttimeline is trending!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're right. Any guesses as to when we'll know if another place has picked it up?
ReplyDeleteThis is how I am right now
ReplyDelete>What I don't get why Parks & Rec was definitely going to be renewed,
ReplyDeleteand Community hovering with the same ratings and almost on as long
wasn't definitely going to be renewed.
P&R is produced by NBC, so they get syndication rights, dvds etc. Community is produced by Sony, so NBC only gets the ad money.
boooooo not happy about this..... knew it'd be a long shot but was hoping for at least a short season
ReplyDeleteReally?! I'm not a fan of this show, I really haven't watched much of it at all, but kinda uncalled for when it comes to those who love the show.
ReplyDeleteSad but not surprising, I did like this show it was funny at some points in the first and second seasons.
ReplyDeleteDarn. Sad news. This was one of a few current comedies that I was watching. Will be missing you, Greendale gang.
ReplyDeleteWTH?!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst Revolution and now Community as well?!!
I'm heartbroken.
Sometimes shows just have to get cancelled, none of the shows that are on now would ever live out 10 seasons would they these days, with money cuts and stuff.
ReplyDelete#fiveseasonsandfuckyounbc
ReplyDeletePrepare yourselves, this is what is going to happen. It's canon!

I want six seasons and movie!!!
ReplyDeleteI am so sad :( I will miss you Community :(

ReplyDeleteYou bet it will.
ReplyDeleteNetflix this is your time to get more subscriptions, pick this series up.
ReplyDeleteDamn shit... gonna miss Abed and Troy, and the love triangle, and the whole community college. It was one of the few comedies I watched.
I think he's expressing dismay.
ReplyDeleteFirst Chuck now Community (well at least Chuck got an proper finale) you keep killing everything I love NBC.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how to feel, on the one hand Hannibal is coming back (which is awesome not only because the show is the best network drama, but also because Bryan Fuller finally has a show that got past two seasons), but I'm also really, really sad and angry over the death of Community and Greendale.
ReplyDeleteTo quote Bryan Mills of Taken, "I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you!"
ReplyDeleteA meteor just wipped out humanity. And that's canon!
ReplyDeleteWorst: NBC let it happened! NBC, you just destroyed humanity! Are you proud?
My sentiments exactly. Not happy about this news at all.
ReplyDeleteAs always, Troy speaks for us all.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see Joel McHale pursuing other endeavours, he is talented, handsome and sexy as hell.
ReplyDeleteCan't argue with this.
I've never been this sad because of any other show... F**k you, NBC.
ReplyDeleteMy 1st non-rookie show. I sincerely believed it would get S6.
ReplyDeleteThis is truly the darkest timeline. Batb exists while Community doesn't. There is no God.
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome. Let my tears mix.
ReplyDeleteLong live Netflix #fiveseasonsandanetflixoriginalfuture
ReplyDeleteWhat a horrible loss. Too bad.
ReplyDeleteI was ready for this, but I'm still upset. Definitely going to miss the show.
ReplyDeleteIf it wasn't for the exclusive digital rights syndication deal the show has with Hulu, it would probably get picked up by Netflix or Amazon prime (like AD or Ripper Street).
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOOOO!!!
ReplyDeleteWow... I didn't think they would. It's such a cult show.
ReplyDeleteSo disappointed :( Was hoping for a final season, S5 could have ended better and given the show real closure.
ReplyDelete
