WHO WILL FOLLOW IN SLADE WILSON’S BOOTSTEPS? | Arrow lead Stephen Amell knows — but declined to identify – who the Big Bad for Season 3 will be, though he did allow this much about Oliver’s next adversary: Whereas Slade was “omnipresent,” “I don’t think that will necessarily be the case in Season 3,” he offered. “It’s going to be a little bit different than in Season 2.”
WHAT IS MALCOLM’S PLAN FOR THEA? | Already miffed with her brother Oliver and freshly betrayed by boyfriend Roy’s crimefighting secrets, Thea was last seen fleeing town in her newly discovered dad’s limo. John Barrowman — who has been promoted to a series regular for Season 3 — suspects that Malcolm Merlyn will “groom” his little girl for a greater and assuredly nefarious purpose, so that she may do right (meaning wrong) by those who dissed her. “He’s got to train her to be a powerhouse, to be a tough bitch,” Barrowman theorizes. “She’s tough now, but she’s got to be tougher.” (The actor’s other big wish for Season 3: less claustrophobic Dark Archer duds. “I’ve already said to [exec producer] Andrew Kreisberg, ‘I want an ouftit like Stephen [Amell]‘s, but in black.’”)

I really hope Laurel'as pat won't be that easy. Katie is a solid actress just give her the space and let her go her own way and not be so Oliver bound and it will be fine.
ReplyDeleteWill be nice to see Thea in beast mode tryng to hurt Olli or Roy?
And the new big ba, besides Malcolm, I would love a hero to go bad or something.
Empty click bait from TV Line. A big bad that Amell doesn't divulge, theories (not facts) from Barrowman, and the show's worst-kept secret from Katie Cassidy. This was a whole bunch of nothing.
ReplyDeleteWhat is meant by Slade was omnipresent? Is it just because he was the bad guy both in present time and in the past on the island?
ReplyDeleteThis basically tells us nothing.
ReplyDeleteI doubt the show will flip a switch and instantly make Laurel the Canary so I wouldn't worry about that. That being said, It's probably good that Cassidy is bulking up because, in what will likely be a lengthy lead-up to her character's transformation, her scenes will become more physically demanding as the show moves forward.
ReplyDeletePotentially, it could also be because he basically attacked all aspects of Oliver's life; his career, his family, his mother's career, his love life, his arrow persona etc.
ReplyDeleteSo do we know if Caity is a regular in S3? It was implied through the series descriptor at the upfronts.
ReplyDeleteMy guess would be 'no' but I have absolutely no proof to back that up.
ReplyDeleteI'm betting that Ra's al Ghul is going to be the big bad of season three.
ReplyDeletemaybe why do you think he will be?
ReplyDeleteThis! So much this! Been waiting for something like this since the LOA was introduced and Ra's' name was spoken by Moira
ReplyDeleteI would prefer that next season's bad guy have no ties to Oliver's past but I'm guessing whoever it will be will have something to do with Ollie's time in Hong Kong with Amanda Waller.
ReplyDeleteAnd the fact that he was always watching the mansion, had everyone's phones bugged etc.
ReplyDeleteI still think Thea is either going to become Tigress or Arrowette.
ReplyDeleteor she become speed aka mia dearden........
ReplyDeleteI'd have to agree with you. If Caity Loitz was going to be a regular I'd suspect it'd be announced by now.
ReplyDeleteWildcat to train Laurel NOW!!!
ReplyDeleteI just want to know if the new Big Bad is going to try to destroy Starling City again.
ReplyDeleteI really hope Laurel'as pat won't be that easy. Katie is a solid actress just give http://bit.ly/1giOsmK
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOD, how can they spoil the new season like that? Now I don't have to watch it I know everything that will happen!!!
ReplyDelete$10 says yes.
ReplyDeleteHow is this city still standing?
ReplyDeleteI read an interview with the producers where they said they can't do that again (destroy the city), they did it twice already. And they know how season 3 will end.
ReplyDeleteMarc Guggenheim said we wouldn't be seeing one of the season 2 characters when season 3 starts and I'm guessing that character is Sara. I figure she'll start recurring again somewhere around the middle or second half of next season.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, all a 'big bad' would have to do is walk around Starling City pushing buildings over like he was cow tipping or something.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Ra's might be the season 5 big bad since the show has a 5 season plan.
ReplyDeleteIn season 1 they name dropped some places related to Ra's Al Ghul. Then the league was formally introduced in season 2. It's slowly building towards the confrontation.
I think it will be HIVE will be the new threat who will probably break Slade out of jail.......
ReplyDelete*bursting out laughing*
ReplyDeletePoor KC is eager to get a good storyline...
ReplyDeleteI still want Laurel to become Manhunter! I feel like the writers have perfectly set up for Laurel to become Manhunter now that Kate Spencer is dead. It would definitely be an interesting arc because it would perfectly juxtapose Oliver's hero journey. While Oliver won't kill, Laurel would do anything to seek justice even if that means killing a man. It would also be interesting to see Laurel keep her extracurricular activities from Oliver and team arrow. Sort of like a role reversal.
ReplyDeleteTV Line is usually better at getting new/good info!
ReplyDeleteKatie has always made comments alluding to Laurel's future as the Canary. I can't recall any instances where another cast member or EP has made such a definitive claim. (Please share a link if you have evidence to the contrary!) I'll believe it when one of the EPs says it. Maybe they've been vague because they have changed their plans for Laurel since the show started and just haven't told Katie yet? I'm not completely on board (yet?) with the idea of Laurel as the Canary, but I'm willing to be convinced... Which they haven't done yet.
ReplyDeleteThey usually are better about policing their content but during the summer hiatus TV Line has a tendency to relax their standards a bit too much.
ReplyDeleteOh, OK.
ReplyDeleteGod, i was hoping that whole, hands her jacket thing was just a little tidbit. Sigh guess it is inevitable. Oh well, that's that. We'll see how it goes. As long as she puts some damn meat on her bones again, i guess i can look at her now w/o cringing, or actually listen to her words instead of it going through one ear and out the other. On another note...
ReplyDeleteIsn't the Big bad gonna be Malcolm?? (doubt it'll be Thea, idt she's ready to be a "villain" just yet). Or maybe there's another one. That'll be interesting. Man, this will be a long wait, i'm dying already. True Blood needs to hurry up and return so i can get my mind off this show for the summer. = (
The EP first mentioned at San Diego Comic-Con 2012 (describing it as Laurel's destiny). It seems to still be in play as it was most recently mentioned to MTV:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.mtv.com/news/1824885/arrow-season-finale-unthinkable-andrew-kreisberg-interview/
Well that was a whole bunch of speculation from actors during cw up fronts except for Stephen Amell. JB and KC actually said they do not know what is going to happen. Its too early to get definitive tidbit from season 3. We will have to wait for comic con.
ReplyDeleteMalcolm is gonna train Thea "so that she may do right (meaning wrong) by those who dissed her"? She's going to come back seeking vengeance on Roy, the guy she was just about to run away with and apparently be in love with forever and ever, because he'd stashed a quiver of arrows in his apartment without telling her? Good lord, if they intend to go the "Dark Thea" route, please give her a better motivation than this. It makes Slade's vendetta against Oliver look reasonable by comparison.
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of possibilities for the Big Bad in S3: R'as al Ghul, ARGUS/Waller, HIVE (what ever happened to that storyline?), someone new. Curious to see who they'll go with.
But yeah, this is basically a bunch of speculation that doesn't tell us anything.
I don't think Thea is going to seek vengeance on Roy. I think she is going to learn to defend herself, fight for her own goals, and then come back. My guess is that she might become a villain but that eventually it would be Roy that would make her leave the "dark side".
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have thought so either, but I was going by what Barrowman said about Thea doing right by those who dissed her. I assumed that meant Oliver and Roy, who lied to her. However, that's only speculation at this point so I shouldn't get ahead of myself with the criticism.
ReplyDeleteSee, now that is something I could get behind. I am not a fan of Laurel being the Canary, Sara just did too well for them to try filling those shoes again, but this would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteThe main villain will be Amanda Waller, you heard it here first :p Well okay this may be pure speculation, but I think it's completely plausible now that Amanda will be the focus of Oliver's flashbacks!
ReplyDeleteI was thinking the villain would be someone who Amanda Waller pissed off somehow. Maybe that's who is behind H.I.V.E. (who may also play a villainous role next season).
ReplyDeleteInteresting... Amanda /does/ have the proclivity of pissing people off :p I actually like that idea because that would bring Diggle into the plot more. And I love me some diggle screentime.
ReplyDeleteI wonder how Malcolm will fit into this though... Maybe he'll spend most of the season training Thea and then he comes back to Starling with her in the end?
I sort of don't understand why Thea went to Malcolm.
ReplyDeleteHer brother did not tell her a secret (that could be argued wasn't really his secret to tell) and she finds out that her boyfriend who she's known from the beginning to be a bit of a Vigilante is doing it again, except with a mask and a bow.
How does that, in any proportion, compare to causing countless death and misery by blowing up a huge part of the city (because he blames an entire class of people for an unfortunate tragedy), directly resulting in Tommy's death. Not to mention how many people died while he put everything together and the fact that he threatened her life and her brother's in order to force Moira to help him.
Yeah, that's still something I don't understand either, and something I hope they realize themselves, and is exactly the thing what will make Thea realize going with Malcolm was stupid, and to trust Oliver again.
ReplyDeleteAgain, Thea is so much better than this, and than Malcolm imo...
