    Prequel is the history story for a current story. All of the things that happened before, all of the things that made the current actions to be possible.


    Sequel is just a continued story line to the original, it doesn't have to have any relations to the original story (though, it's better), BUT it does have to have some common connection points with the previous story.


    Prequel -> Present day story -> Sequel
