I know from previews that this episode will deal with Ward’s history, and I love that we’re going to focus on that in light of everything we’ve seen in the past few weeks.
We feel like Ward is showing all these different colors, and we thought it might be fun to show how Ward became Ward. Nothing definitive, because we’re still driving towards our conclusion with Deathlok and Raina and Garrett and Quinn and our cavalcade of bad guys, but Ward really is front and center in this episode. And showing his relationship with Garrett, and how that was shaped over the years, was really fun. [Bill] Paxton and Brett [Dalton] did an amazing job together.
That’s actually the first impression I took away when I looked at this — I think it would’ve been easy to create a poster with just Ward as the focus, given the episode, but it really goes out of its way to involve the team in his story.
I really do feel Ward is trapped between two families, or the two pulls. Because as we learned, he really does care for Skye. And I do believe he cares for Fitz and Simmons and the whole team, to a certain extent, and that he was following orders. On the other hand, he has this deathly obligation to Garrett, and I think the poster does a nice job of capturing this. On one hand, Ward is alone, and on the other, you see him with the team, and see Skye’s face behind the S.H.I.E.L.D. logo. I think the poster captured that very nicely.

I absolutely love the fact that it's going to be Fitz who tries to talk Ward down instead of Skye, like fics (including my own) have been predicting for weeks. I truly do hope his family saves him.
ReplyDeleteAnd while this week's poster is confusing, I like it better than last week's.
I am pretty sure I looked absolutely ridiculous sitting upside-down on my couch to view this haha.
ReplyDeleteSo it seems like Ward does have Fitz and Simmons with him. I am actually curious and also scared to see what happens since we don't have any finale stills with them.
Yup, I'm pretty terrified about why none of the three are in the finale stills. Probably irrational, but that's what this show has done to me lately. LOL.
ReplyDeleteWhat made me even more paranoid are all these 'Simmons is Hydra' theories floating around because I simply refuse to believe it.
ReplyDeleteI was on the fence about that until the pool scene. Something just seemed off there and I can't figure out whether they were foreshadowing Jemma also being a traitor or one half of FitzSimmons dying.
ReplyDeleteI AM HERE FOR NONE OF THIS. STOP HURTING ME, SHOW.
It is anice poster, but the guy doesn't look like Ward.
ReplyDeleteBefore Ward turned evil I loved FitzSimmons/Ward together so I'm glad we will be seeing more of that explored rather than just Ward loves Skye.
ReplyDeleteThe finale will address Ward's true allegiances...
ReplyDeleteI still think that Ward will get injured and they will use the TAHITI meds to bring him back, wiping his memory of Hydra, being injured and his feelings for Skye in the process.
ReplyDeleteAnd if they can't get the research off the HD, Simmons is the only one who knows what was on it as far as TAHITI research.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this. It covers the most important aspects of Ward's life.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this one. So far I have loved them all but this one is really beautiful and has a real 70s comic vibe to it.
ReplyDeleteQuick observations:
- FitzSimmons captured and underwater(?)
- Fitz's arm is in a sling. Broken maybe?
I can't believe that either because I am pretty sure Simmons found something in Skye's blood while she was a the hub (you know before Hydra took over). If she was Hydra, whatever she knew Garrett would know by now.
ReplyDeleteI agree about acknowledging Ward's relationships with the others on the Bus. Fitz's reaction to Ward's betrayal was one of the most compelling parts of last episode (Iain is swiftly becoming one of the show's strongest actors imo), and Simmons's silent tears were heartbreaking. They cared for Ward and I can't wait to see how their relationship has shifted after the reveal.
ReplyDeleteI've been seeing a lot of speculation that Simmons is working for another organization, most likely S.W.O.R.D. and I'm inclined to agree. I don't think it was a fluke that we had specific scenes in which Simmons confronted Coulson about Skye's miracle cure, or that fact that she was adamant about testing Skye's blood and that she's becoming a better liar. My theory is that Simmons was sent by S.W.O.R.D. or some other org to study Skye and determine her 084 origins.... they deal with extraterrestrial threats and maybe they got word that Skye might be extraterrestrial in origin? It fits with my Mantis theory, so I'm inclined to believe that's the case haha
ReplyDeleteIts really hard to rewatch the earlier episodes now, when they were joking around with Ward its sad knowing he was playing them. Iain is getting so good in the role I agree!
ReplyDeletei dont think its about Skye, Simmons joined the team before they even met skye. but i do think simmons working for someone else.
