ABC Passes Over First Batch of Pilots
9 May 2014
Pilot Shows
After ordering 5 dramas and 4 comedies earlier today, ABC has passed on drama pilots Dangerous Liaisons, Sea of Fire, Warriors, and The McKenna Files (PKA Agatha). Comedy Saint Francis has also been passed on.
I thought Sea of Fire was getting good buzz? Surprised but maybe its not really an ABC type show.
ReplyDeleteI was interested in Agatha and was hoping it would make it. Oh well. I'm still crossing my fingers that Clementine still has a shot but it's probably dead too.
ReplyDeleteWhich is exactly why they should have picked it up. The networks are very very slowly realizing that they need to adapt to a cable model but they insist on as little change possible at a time. They're going to have to start taking more chances on darker, more adult and "artistic" fare (not the word I'm looking for but hopefully it gets my point across) and eventually people who are now used to cable may take the broadcast networks more seriously. I love lots of broadcast shows but more and more people seem to have a low opinion of them nowadays. Anyway, my point being this sounded pretty dark and cable-y and while risky could have gotten ABC a lot of good buzz and they were considering a limited run anyway, so I feel this was a bad choice on their part.
ReplyDeleteGuess they were scared to take the risk, shame. Maybe it will get picked up elsewhere.
ReplyDeleteI forgot about that one but I'm rooting for Clementine, sounds like Believe but probably darker and with an adult not a kid haha
ReplyDeleteIt's got a decent cast and it's an ABC Studios production so I'm still clinging to a little bit of hope for now.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping it ends up being one of those shows that are at least ordered the last possible minute to air in late March or April like Bad Teacher was ha
ReplyDeleteIt's not ideal but it's better than scrapping the project altogether.
ReplyDeleteClementine sounds pretty good. I hope they pick it up or they sell it off to a cable network
ReplyDeleteNO!! I Was Hoping Sea Of Fire Would Get Picked Up.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Secrets and Lies?!
ReplyDelete:( And i was looking forward to Sea of Fire.
ReplyDeleteAccording to deadline, Secrets & Lies (which has a series commitment) is the only drama left in contention. On the comedies' side, Cristela and Fresh off the Boat still have a shot.
ReplyDeleteI was rooting for Sea of fire. Stupid ABC.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't say exposed was passed on?
ReplyDeleteDeadline says the rest are considered longshots.
ReplyDeleteOh, that would be great. The cast is incredible and I was looking forward to see it.
ReplyDeleteI thought Sea of Fire has a chance.
ReplyDeleteNo word on Exposed? I'm guessing it's such a long shot they don't even feel the need to mention it...
ReplyDeleteWith you on Exposed. I could have used a weekly dose of Ben Barnes' cuteness.
ReplyDeleteThat has been ordered to series already.
ReplyDeleteIt has a series commitment, so it will most likely be ordered to series.
ReplyDeleteThat rarely ever happens.
ReplyDeleteI'm mad that Sea of Fire and Warriors didn't make it, but at least my TV schedule won't be so full.
ReplyDeleteAwe really was looking forward to The Mckenna Files (PKA Agatha)
ReplyDeleteLike a lot of people, I'm kind of bummed about Sea of Fire too! ABC used to have some daring shows and it seems like a thing of the past...
ReplyDeleteI regret Sea of Fire passed on :s WHat about CLementine ??? Is it pick up or not ?
ReplyDeleteDarn, I thought Sea of Fire could have been good. However, it was a little out there for ABC.
ReplyDeletedark and artistic, that sounds like Hannibal!
ReplyDeleteNot yet, but chances are ABC is done with pick ups.
ReplyDeleteBummed about sea of fire, wanted to see jennifer carpenter again.
