No shooting hiatus for 'The Originals'. Meaning: The Originals will shoot over summer.
#TheOriginals ep121 is in the can Now home 2 weeks then right back to direct ep202 of the originals Looks like no TV hiatus this year for me

That's odd. I wonder why that's happening.
ReplyDeleteDaniel Gillies being also a lead on Saving Hope wich probably starts shooting this fall
ReplyDeleteWell that makes sense! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteMeans both good and bad things for the show:
ReplyDeletegood -
- Daniel Gillies has time to shoot it
- the writing will pretty much remain the same without a hiatus to put the writers into lazyness
- Nathaniel Buzolic WILL be available as he can shoot over summer
- they can pull a Once Upon a Time and split the seasons storylines
- more time for adding footage of actors while the principal photography is done (so Claire, Caspar and others CAN return at more points in time)
- more high tier actors that are on hiatus WHILE TO is shooting (imagine Jim Caviziel or some other TV stars showing up. That wouldn't just cause cross-show promotion but also add more fanbases)
- time for shooting crossovers, Nina, Paul and Ian will probably have time at that point in time
bad -
- exhaustion, Daniel Gillies stars on Saving Hope, TO, recurs on TVD and has a newborn child ?
- no time for our series stars to participate in summer movies like some usually do
- Elyse Levesque will probably have to drop out as she has a movie on her way and shoots a show over summer
- more of the same without a breeze of fresh air
I hope they get some break at some point. They are going to be exhausted.
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched the last few episodes so I don't know the latest happenings... What do you mean with "Nathaniel Buzolic WILL be available". Did the writers finally remember Klaus and Elijah had another brother? Can he be resurrected?
ReplyDeleteIf SPN's spin-off is picked up, they'll begin filming at July, so Nathaniel Buzolic will not be available the entire summer.. and he might already be signed to film more episodes of PLL or another show before July..
ReplyDeleteIt's great news. I'm so glad we're getting season two.
ReplyDeleteAh so it's finally been confirmed!
ReplyDeleteI've been hearing this in fan circles but haven't seen it confirmed till now.
Considering the immediate filming part was true, the other rumor might be true. Supposedly the baby is heavily involved in early season 2, which was/is the reason for going right into season 2 (it's meant to be a hybrid baby and because of the vampire part it's not supposed to age). It'll either be written out or cured (so it can age) pretty quickly.
Flashbacks....
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense... Thanks! I didn't know he was going to be back on TVD, I can't wait now! :)
ReplyDeleteThey shoot Saving Hope from late June/early July into September.
ReplyDeleteBut the argument totally stands. They probably want to have a head start before he has to come back to Toronto and do that...
Most of them probably will, I think it's only Daniel that will be working straight on.
ReplyDeleteWell lets hold our horses with respect to the SPN spin off. I'm still not sure that one will go through eventually.
ReplyDeletebut Saving Hope premiered earlier last season (june, when they filmed the second half, they shot the first half even before Daniel returned to TVD). The show returns this fall so they'll probably start shooting that later than last year
ReplyDeleteCanadian shows usually film in bulk and have almost all their episodes in the can when they start broadcasting. Since SH is to premiere in the fall they need to start production early in the summer. So I maintain that they'll probably start that up in June.
ReplyDeleteamerican shows usually take a hiatus over summer and shoot most of their episodes 4 weeks before broadcast.
ReplyDeleteTO just broke the rules for Gillies, who says Saving Hope won't either ?
America shows actually start a tad earlier than just 4 weeks, but they are only about 4 episodes ahead because there is a small hiatus even in the summer.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm less inclined to believe that SH would bend rules because it's not a US produced show. It's full on Canadian production that films in Toronto.
The way I see the situation is that TO seems to be working around SH's schedule (and I think the only thing SH might have done in the situation is set a finalized start-to-finish date of filming for the season).
If they continue filming S2 of TO right after S1 it means that they'll film through May and some of June, before SH starts. Which means they'll still have the 4 episode head start come fall, after SH will have wrapped it's season.
Hopefully they're doing this so that Daniel will be in the first few episodes - because I know in the first season there was a conflict since he was filming Saving Hope in Vancouver so he needed to be written out for the first five episodes or so.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Daniel is going to be recurring on TVD (nor do I think any of the Originals will be). He and Claire were recurring in Seasons 3 and 4 - but then they got the spin-off.
ReplyDeleteGreat news, i would love to see some summer scenes. The issue i had with TVD is that they always skipped summer with some stupid lazy explanation and went right into autumn, with the cast all dressed up warmly. There is certain magic in episodes that take place in summer heat, and re-living warm days while already having to dress up warmly myself always makes me nostalgic. (i lvoed when gossip girl would show small snippets of what the characters were up to during summer)
ReplyDeleteHopefully next season Daniel will somehow won't have to take breaks from the action. I am worried his absence will be explained poorly and will have a negative impact on his storyline.
It could have to do with saving hope but my guess having worked in production is it has everything to do with the baby being cast. If they wait and pick back up in a few months they will have to recast a baby, if they do a few episodes now the baby still remains the same baby/babies they originally cars and it/they remain a newborn/age. I believe it is just 2-3 episodes of season two they are shooting and then taking a break. So that could be the reason.
ReplyDeleteBut I don' think he'll be back for long especially not on The Originals but you know he's part of the main cast of Supernatural: Bloodlines so I doubt we'll see him much if at all maybe there will be flashbacks but that would be it.
ReplyDeleteClaire has recurred in season 5 too, just not as much since she appeared in 2 episodes. :)
