Agreed but I don't think she's long for this world, so I'm not worried. I am trying not to judge her character too hard because I hated the character that actress played on Stargate Universe, in fact I hated SGU all around. The Stargate that sunk the series.
I didn't mind SGU (even though it was a very forgettable series) or her Chloe character but I think Elyse Levesque was miscast in this role. Then again, there's not a whole lot to this role. It would take some superb talent to bring something interesting to such sparse material.
Joseph's delivery of his line just doesn't feel organic here. That's one of my issues with this show - a lot of the time it really does feel like the actors are reading from a script and it just doesn't come off as the way people would naturally talk.
They don't talk the way people naturally do. Not in a modern sense. They're unnecessarily wordy and prone to using a lot of pompous exposition. They've always been that way.
I just find her really boring onscreen but to be fair, I think both Chloe and Genevieve are written to be that way. I don't see what else she could realistically do to make them better. It's not like when I see other actors playing a character and I just cringe because they are so bad at it, she's just "meh" to me. Genevieve may suppose to be more femme fatal-esque but they need better material to pull that off. The writing just isn't there.
Well, this episode was written by Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) and Michael Russo. We'll see next week if the rest of the episode is an improvement over this or not.
He's certainly cried actual tears and felt sorry for himself far more in TO then he ever did in TVD. It takes away from the moments when he does it, like in TVD when he says the reason he and Stefan kept memento's their victims was because of loneliness. That was moving in TVD but everytime he cries in TO, it's like... Again, really? The Klaus character also seemed genuinely happier in TVD too, at least sans the ep right after he had sex with Caroline, lol. Genevieve doesn't make him grin like that! :p
If Klaus is going 'too big' in his scenes on The Originals, that's as much a directing problem as it is an actor problem. Maybe they need some new directors on The Originals.
Yeah, definitely. It's not fair to put all the blame for that on JoMo, but it's also a writer and producer problem too along with the director and actor. Someone over there needs to lead a "Come to Jeebus" conversation over that status of the show, lol.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Genevieve walks around like Victoria Grayson but she's not as witty or clever. Way too transparent.
ReplyDeleteWhat even is this show. The acting is terrible, the dialogue is stale and flat, and I don't understand why they're bickering about renovations.
ReplyDeleteugh...just go away Genevieve
ReplyDeleteDo you watch the show or did you come here to bash a show you have no interest in?
ReplyDeleteWhere is sneak Peek 1? Thank

ReplyDeleteIt came out at least a week ago, probably longer. You're gonna have to dig for it, sorry.
ReplyDeleteOr someone much more helpful then me can just give a link, lol.

When Klaus was on TVD his lines always felt way more organic than they do on this show (to me) so I think it must be the writing.

ReplyDeleteWhen I marathon both shows over the summer I'll keep a look out for any differences but I really haven't noticed any.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I forgot all about that one.
ReplyDeleteMaybe that's it? A lot of the dialogue just feels so forced (and it's not just Joseph - it's Daniel as well).

That's right, I remember hearing she got a writing gig on TO, I look forward to seeing her ep then.

ReplyDeleteThis will be her 3rd episode so far. The first two were Sinners and Saints (1.05) and Après Moi, Le Déluge (1.11).
