The Musketeers - Season 1 - BBC America Announces Start Date

Apr 1, 2014

BBC AMERICA will premiere The Musketeers on Sunday, June 22 and has picked up the second season for 2015.

A fresh and contemporary take on the classic Alexandre Dumas characters, The Musketeers is set on the streets of seventeenth century Paris, where law and order is an idea more than a reality. In addition to being King Louis XIII’s personal bodyguards, Athos, Aramis and Porthos stand resolutely for social justice, honor, valor, love - and for the thrill of it. The 10-part first season premieres Sunday, June 22, 9:00pm ET.

Luke Pasqualino (Skins, The Borgias) stars as D’Artagnan alongside Tom Burke (Great Expectations, The Hour) as Athos, Santiago Cabrera (Merlin, Heroes) as Aramis and Howard Charles (Royal Shakespeare Company) as Porthos. Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who, The Hour, The Thick Of It), Maimie McCoy (Loving Miss Hatto), Tamla Kari (Cuckoo, The Inbetweeners Movie) and Hugo Speer (Bedlam) also star in the series.

Additionally, viewers can expect to see guest cast including JJ Feild (Captain America: The First Avenger), Vincent Regan (Snow White and the Huntsman), Ashley Walters (Inside Men), Amy Nuttall (Downton Abbey), Tara Fitzgerald (Waking the Dead), Annabelle Wallis (X-Men: First Class), Zoe Tapper (Mr Selfridge), Vinnie Jones (Snatch) and Sean Pertwee (Elementary).

  2. You're in for a treat, it started off pretty ok but got stronger as it went on imo. The Musketeers themselves are fab, very well cast. :)

  3. You will love it , just stay with it because as Sandi says it gets stronger. Great cast and genuine chemistry between the 4 Musketeers :)

  4. I wonder if actors are getting tired of wearing leather doublets all the damn time on shows like this?

  5. I think they were grateful when they were in the middle of the snow and wind, but yes it probably got a bit hot and sticky during some of the more action type scenes. Capaldi actually did a short vid on how heavy his leather costume was, lol.

  15. Haha, sounds like you have everything planned out right, kudos! One other thing you might want to have a listen to is this great interview that Adrian Hodges did with Geek Syndicate before S1.

There has been a follow up one done today, which will be out later this week, with some bits about S2 which will be worth listening to after you have watched season 1 too :)

  22. Just finished w S1 - was wonderfully fun ! !
Had all the mythos - political intrigue - romance - sword fighting and even humor. Just what I would want and expect ! I think each character was depicted quite appropriately. Porthos has always been my favorite - as I am partial to pirates, making The Homecoming a fav ep.

    Now I eagerly await S2 !
    : )

    All 4 1 & 1 4 All !
