The Mentalist comes back after 2 weeks with a classic episode and a classic Jane - till you go to the end.
Patrick Jane needs to hurry up to save the life of a man who's been unjustly invicted to death. Jane and Edward, the doctor, both share the grief of their wifes. The only difference is Edward's moved on with his life; he married Mae, his former student, and they're happily (?) married for eleven years - curious about the fact that Jane and Lisbon have known each other for almost twelve years. When Jane asks Edward if he has ever thought about suicide, it's a clear reference to his own experience. Back when he killed Red John, he was looking at his gun as if he wanted to kill himself, and put an end to his life. Instead, Jane chose to live, deciding to deal with his conscience; Edward chose to live and chose life. Anyway, things went wrong for Edward and his wife, because it was revealed that Mae was behind the murder of Edward's first wife, an organized plan she made to be with him. Love is sick.
One of the funniest subplot was Wiley and his clock alarm. That damn computer informed everyone about the time every hour. That was hilarious. Fischer's reaction was precious. She literally jumped after hearing that sound from Wiley's laptop, then she did a second jump after hearing the alarm system. "They're fixing the alarm", says Wiley. I liked how basically everyone discuss about Jane and Lisbon. In the previous episode, Wiley has been asked by Pike if the two of them were romantically involved, now it's Fischer and Cho's turn to discuss. She asks him about Lisbon's new boyfriend and I guess she's curious about Jane's reaction to that. Cho simply replies in his way "My brain would explode (if he and I were discussing about Lisbon and Pike, I'd add.)" Cho doesn't like talking too much but I wonder if when the time will come, he'll be a good listener to Jane. Abbott is always a great surprise to me. He starts to like Jane's way to investigate and he let him do what he wants.
The second subplot is the 'triangle' Jane-Lisbon-Pike. First, Jane sees Lisbon coming to the crime scene in a cab. "Very cosmopolitan of you", which means it's not Lisbon's style. His question about her date with Agent Pike means Jane knew she spent the night with him. That's the first thing that hurts him. Second, the phone call. Lisbon and Pike are arranging something for the night, and it's clear that Jane feels like the third wheel. The last scene shows the complete picture of Jane and Lisbon's relationship so far. Jane is confused about his feeling for her 'friend'; he wants her to be happy, he asks if Pike is going to take her in someplace nice, because if Pike makes her happy, Jane is happy too, so he let her go. That's far from the Jane at the beginning of the series - the selfish man "Can't you see there are people who care about you?" [back in season one] seems to be gone. As for Lisbon, she's confused too. Dating a man who can make her happy is what every woman would dream. But how long can that perfect man make her happy? How long can Jane resist to watch Lisbon slipping away from him? Jane needs to make up his mind, and Lisbon needs to clear her heart. As I said before, love is sick and people do crazy things when they're in love.
Do you think Jane is jealous? Is Lisbon really happy with Pike? Share your comments below. Thanks to tumblr.com for the gifs.
I think Lisbon isn't really crazy about Pike. She just wants Jane to wake up and see that she loves him and he loves her. I thought the episode was awesome. I love Jane's cons.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I think Lisbon likes Pike, but she loves Jane... and there'a a big difference in here! Thanks for reading :)
ReplyDeleteAccording to TV Guide or rather Bruno Heller Agent Pike will propose to Lisbon. Doh! All this in 6 Episodes. Rush, Rush. This feels so wrong. I really wish for renewel of TM (@ whatever network). At least make it decent in the last 4 Episodes. What i don´t want is an ending like Harm and Mac in JAG.

How can he Propose so fast? They don't even really know each other and we probably won't see him that much except in a couple scenes.
ReplyDeleteYeah, based on the TV Line and TV Guide articles, I'm not sure I'll be liking the next few episodes. Afraid they are going to continue to string out Jane / Lisbon and end with her heading off with Pike. :(
ReplyDeleteBefore freaking out we don't know if it's actually a marriage proposal...
ReplyDeleteHe's set to appear at least in 5 episodes till the finale. For what we've seen, we know enough about him.
ReplyDeleteWhy people are so frustrating if Bruno Heller confirmed we'll have a closure for Jane and Lisbon's relationship?
ReplyDeleteWell it is not that Pike and Lisbon do not have chemistry. However, It is Jane's fault if he let's her get away.
ReplyDeleteI think that Jane is jealous but not in the romantic way. The Mentalist 2.0 has been about change for our characters. I think Jane has seen his friends move on - Rigsby and Van Pelt married, Cho in FBI, now Lisbon, while she did go to Texas to work with Jane, she is also moving on. To me the scenes with Jane alone on the couch mean that he is feeling loneliness. I think Jane sees his support/family breaking down, moving on and he's there left by himself. I doubt he sees the FBI people as family. He was the only man in Lisbon's life, they are friends/partners that see each other everyday, work closely. They respect and admire each other and now another man is the picture and Jane is jealous like a child. He doesn't have her full attention anymore, he has to share her and he's felling sad about it. Jane saw her in a dress and called her beautiful because she was. He called her Teresa because, at that moment, she wasn't Agent Lisbon, she was a beautiful woman named Teresa.
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading! I heard WB is trying to sell TM around, my bet is for TNT.
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading! Well I think people can think whatever they want, but if Heller said there's gonna be a closure for Jane\Lisbon story arc, I believe him. Why putting all these subtextes in those episodes otherwise?
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading! Why do you say it's Jane's fault? Lisbon finds in Pike the perfect match, but it's obvious she's not that into him...
ReplyDeleteI think Jane and Lisbon will be endgame in the season finale.
ReplyDeleteThe Sunday 10 pm slot is the worst. TM still makes 9-10 Millions viewers, but of course low in the 18-49 rating. Last Sunday ratings where better then TGW! Ha! Thanks Nina Tassler for this. Doesn´t CBS changes TBBT to Monday?. Make it so and put TM Thursday on the 9pm slot. The Show has the potential. For example TM runs here in Germany also on Sunday at 9.15pm. But besides that it has better ratings then movies, shows ect. on other networks. 12-15% in the target group 18-49.
ReplyDeleteNevermind where Season 7 will run, main thing there is a Season 7!
Heller said there would be closure for romantic angle that doesn't necessarily mean Jane/Lisbon. I've never heard him refer to J/L as romantic before. I think that ball is still in the air. Heller has just started to truly play with romantic subtext between them after the Red John kill. Anything else was flirting, innuendo or just hopefulness on the part of some viewers. The reality is that we don't know what their deal is yet so anyone's assumption that Jane is romantically jealous is guessing or hoping.. So if you are a shipper, non-shipper or just don't care we'll all find out in the finale.
ReplyDeleteShe is still waiting for Jane to make a move. Eventually she will stop waiting. That is why I said it will be Jane's fault.
ReplyDeleteBut Jane in the end will realize the big mistake he made, and then he'll go after Lisbon.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome. than please let be TNT.
ReplyDeleteYou are right. Before TM was on Wednesday and Thursday i think. And they have 10-15 Millions viewers. Than they come on Sunday and they have worst time slot, so everything goes down. Give us Season 7 and give us TM in the middle of the week at 9pm slot.
ReplyDeleteOne would hope that is true but Jane has too many bugaboos to overcome for that to happen.
ReplyDeleteIt will happen.
ReplyDeleteEverybody can think whatever they want and I respect opinions, but if Heller said there's gonna be closure I believe it's in positive way.
