In this week's episode of The 100, a race against the clock starts when the 100 realize that hundreds of people will die if they won't be able to communicate with the Ark.
As you seen from last week's episode, Raven has launched her pod. [SPOILER ALERT] As you can see from the promo, she survived the landing on Earth. She quickly realizes that they need to make contact with the Ark because of the upcoming population reduction plan. However, the radio from the pod is taken and subsequently destroyed by another human (whether one of the 100 or a Grounder). This makes communication with the Ark virtually impossible. Fortunately, one character says: "We do not have to communicate with the Ark. We just have to let them know we're down here." And so the 100 reunite and work as fast as they can to show the Ark that they are alive and well. The clock is ticking to save hundreds of lives.
On board the Ark, everyone is getting ready for the population reduction. The plan is to exile 320 people to Section 17 and cut of the oxygen while they're asleep. However, things don't go as they should when the plan is exposed. The question is: what will be the consequences on the Ark? Will people accept the situation as it is or will the entire population go on a riot as feared by the Counsil? You are going to have to wait and see for yourself.
The episode is really all about the population reduction. There is not a lot of time for anything else, including a love triangle. Yes, there are a few references about the trio Clarke/Raven/Finn, but nothing really significant. I think all three of them realize that there is much more at stake. When hundreds of lives are in danger, no time should be wasted on talking and/or fighting about your relationship.
Here are some teasers:
-A key character is willing to be at Section 17 when the air is cut off, essentially sacrificing him or herself.
-Somebody is taken by a Grounder.
-We will see Clarke's late father Jake again. Has he miraculously survived his floating, or is there something else going on?
-I think you might like Kane a bit more after this episode. At least, he is lighting up a bit and plays an important role in this episode.
-We will soon learn Abby's fate in the wake of Raven's launch to Earth.
The fifth episode of The 100 airs this Wednesday, 9|8c, on The CW. Watch the promo for the episode below.
