"Murphy's Law" is probably my favorite episode of the show so far; it has everything it needs, schemes, riots, character conflicts, plot progression, action, just everything you could possibly need in an episode of The 100 is in display here and it is pretty awesome.
In this episode, the 100 deals with the aftermath of Wells' death; his passing will prove to affect not only Clarke, but also everyone in the group. Charlotte has to deal with the guilt of killing Wells and Bellamy is has to deal with some hard choices that will be complete game changers in the dynamics of the group. Meanwhile, in the Ark, Abby and Raven are forced to hurry in their quest to repair the escape pod.
The episode has a much quicker pace on Earth than in the Ark; things will get done quite quickly, but not too quickly, I’d say it’s the perfect pacing for an episode that try- and succeeds- to be shocking while also being true to its darkest themes. The direction is fairly great and the acting keeps proving to be very solid as the cast seems to flesh out their characters better, especially Clarke who every episode feels less like a stereotypical hero and more like a full fledge human being. From now on Clarke will be a way more complex and stronger character than she was before.
As per usual, at least someone is going to die in this episode. I can’t tell you who or how, I’ll just say that it is just as jaw dropping- if not more- as Wells death last week. I assure you, you won’t see it coming. The death of said character is going to fundamentally change how these people interact with each other, may it be on the Ark or Earth.
After episode 3 I was already hooked in the show, but I’d say episode 4 makes it downright addictive. It’s by far the most shocking so far, and probably the most honest about human nature too, we get to see both the good and the bad, and the show leaves one asking “do these people deserve to live?”. Humans do both terrible and great things, and The 100 is a show that uses its teenager’s character to show the process of finding your morals and your values as they are still setting in, and this episode does a remarkable job at that.
Random teaser about the episode:
-You will see some Clarke and Charlotte interaction. It’s quite interesting and it feels very organic and smartly written.
-You will see a side of Bellamy he hasn’t had the chance to show.
-Raven will get some screen time so we get some insight about her character.
-Abby will make a bold choice that raises the stakes on the Ark.
-We get to know something about Kane.
-There will be a pretty great Octavia and Jasper moment.
Here's a promo of this episode!
Great episode.
ReplyDeleteNice preview. Looks good. I didn't really enjoy episode 3, so hopefully I'll like this one better.
ReplyDeleteI think you will, I think it's the best of The 100 so far. Episode 5 is pretty damn great too, and episode 6 is quite good, so I can say that the show carry on the good will ;)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see 5 & 6. I got to see the first 4, months ago like you guys so it's been a waiting game for new episodes =)
ReplyDeleteI have been waiting and waiting for episode 7. Still a few weeks to go if we don;t get more screeners.
ReplyDeleteThis episode looks really interesting, i want to see how the deal with the situation of a killer among them (altho they all did something wrong but i dont think they killed someone on the arK right?), they were all careless when they get to earth some didnt care but after this i`m pretty sure they will at least to try to live together in somekind of peace.
ReplyDelete@Pablo Troncoso Any spoilers about Finn in this episode? Anything worthwhile? I am
ReplyDeleteasking because I like his character and the review mentioned almost all
the main characters except him.
He plays a big role in the episode, and I can tell you that there is an important moment with him at the very last minutes
ReplyDeleteThank you. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're most welcome ;)
ReplyDeleteHopefully the death you were talking about isn't the one that was shown in Preview.
ReplyDeleteI think Murphy dying is too obvious. I think Charlotte will die but maybe she will somebody else before and that's how they find out she killed Wells.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that someone will die on the Ark it could be Abby but we'll see. Yeah, Murphy dying is obvious but that was revealed in a trailer that was shown months ago.
ReplyDeleteThere are murderers among them but not everyone did something wrong just minor things that the people on the Ark didn't like and probably was going to kill them when they turned 18 anyway to save Oxygen.
ReplyDeleteJasper and Monty are there because they grew pot in the Ark's farm. Olivia because she was a second child. Finn...I don't think they said why. My guess is that most people are there for minor things.
ReplyDeletePaige Turco was casted in the NCIS spin off so I can see her dying before the season is over.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I've mentioned this elsewhere but Paige Turco signed on to the NCIS spinoff in 'second position' meaning she'll only continue on the New Orleans spinoff if The 100 isn't renewed for a second season.
ReplyDeleteMonty took some drugs they never said what kind and Jasper was with him so they both got arrested. Finn wasted a month of Oxygen for a spacewalk.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Paige Turco has a recurring role there in the spin-off so she isn't a series regular.
ReplyDeleteI didn't remember Finn's reason thank you.
ReplyDeleteI thought she was a series regular in the NCIS spin off. It's nice to know she can stay if the show is renewed.
