Extremely skeptical about this one. If he's there, he's most likely filming for a different show.
ReplyDeleteGuess we'll find out for sure soon.
I might be in the minority, but I wouldn't mind this...
ReplyDeleteIt's actually the majority opinion (pretty sure, anyway).
ReplyDeleteIf Supernatural has taught me anything it's that 'dead' is a matter of perspective and skill level
ReplyDeleteHe faked his death several times - one more wouldn't be too hard to believe.
ReplyDeleteI wish they'd never made him an angel, especially not for that pity party archangel story that clogged up season 5. But since they can't go back to the character's start, I wish they'd have him take over Heaven. I think the son who felt most unwanted coming into his destiny would be a nice touch.
It would be cool if he did appear, but like others, how would that come about?
ReplyDeleteI mean, going on the assumption that he is dead, dead, because we saw the black wings, I can't think of a reason why either Sam or Dean would be dreaming or hallucinating him.
As much as I loved Gabriel I thought it was pretty clear that he was dead. I can't really imagine them bring him back.
ReplyDeletehe is a trickster after all. anything is possible with him in the play
ReplyDeleteI would be okay with this if all tricksters took on the form of Gabriel because they also believed him to be Loki, the god of all tricksters, and therefore he's playing another trickster that isn't Gabriel this time around. But beyond that it'd have to be a flashback or time travel or alternate universe, etc. to keep from damaging the show's lore any further.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Working around his on-screen death could pose some logistical problems, but if they found a believable way to work around that, I think having Gabriel come into this particular storyline would be great. I can't imagine the all-powerful former archangel is all that happy about having his wings clipped...and would be similarly non-plussed about Metatron getting too big for his britches (actually, just picturing Metatron's weasely face at seeing a very much alive Gabriel makes me very happy xD).
ReplyDeleteThe other good thing about it is that, unlike Cas, who would always have people challenging him for authority, Gabriel would be capable of crushing most ensuing rebellions fairly easily.
And with Gabe back running heaven, they could finally finish with the Angel story lines!
ReplyDeleteWell Carver is obviously scraping the barrel here.
ReplyDeleteHe has NO story to tell any more, he hasn't a clue what to do with his two leads Sam and Dean, so to keep everyone interested he throws in a little gossip about Gabriel being back. All the fans will 'Ooh and Ahh', and concentrate on this little titbit and forget about how he is ruining the show and how he probably has no decent ending for the season.
Well played Mr Carver!
They should do a season or two focusing on the Men of Letters.
ReplyDeleteI agree on this.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine that there would be unresolved hunts in the MOL files for example..They could have a kind of 'Supernatural Cold Case' season where the brothers investigate monsters that no one has managed to kill.
There are many things the writers could do but they just don't seem to be interested in anything other than surviving from episode to episode.
It feels as if they are lacking in enthusiasm. :(
They just want to keep the tired angel/demon story going. Men of Letters stuff, throw in some nazi's, aliens, etc could make for a fun season or two. Your idea would work as well. At this point anything could be better then what we've been getting.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural: Cold cases. There's your spin off ;)
ReplyDeleteKnowing our luck he probably is there for another show. But S.E Hilton said that there was a character returning for the finale right? I assumed she was talking about Tessa but hopefully she was talking about Gabe!
ReplyDeleteThat one I could get behind, sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteWould love to see Trickster/Gab back.
ReplyDeleteLol. Definitely better than 'Chicago ruling mafia monster families', at least in my book!
ReplyDeleteI liked the character but it all depends on how they bring him back.
ReplyDeleteIf it's a flashback or a vision, or if he's the reason Sam didn't look for Dean at the begining of S8, okay; but if it's to turn back time in some way and make out that the brothers have been living a dream for nine years, then no.
It would be awesome if he had came back. I wonder if this somehow connects to Tessa?. I do hope this rumor is true :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I really can't believe it, not b/c I find it impossible for Gabriel to be alive (in Supernatural everything is possible!) but b/c it would be a huge plot twist and SPN staff have showed they like their surprises and can be absolutely secretive about them. (Who's this woman twitting anyway?!)
ReplyDeleteSo not the minority...
ReplyDeleteA rumor about Gabriel/Trickster being around and you're already accusing Carver of not knowing where to take the series.
ReplyDeleteFlashback?
ReplyDeleteMe too. Oh yes.
ReplyDeleteMy dream is after season 10 SPN format changes to mini-series with 12-13 eps and each season - separate theme, like yours SPN: Cold Cases, SPN: Purgatory, SPN: Wild West ect. Get rid of feely-touchy part (hey, time to grow up) and get to the family business. Man, this is such a wonderful franchise, it can go Doctor Who road if managed properly.
ReplyDeletehaha, I doubt it'll be anything *that* drastic.
ReplyDeleteWhy are we even talking about Carver? This is just some random twitter person who may or may not be trolling everyone. It's far from an official tease or spoiler.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny you mention that because Adam Glass actually used to work on Cold Case at one point. The last episode reminded me a lot of that.
ReplyDeleteTrue but the only one who has come back from dead dead is Cas everybody else that was hit with an angel blade or the demon killing knife has not come back.i Do not see him back as an angel though even though that would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteAre you really surprised?
ReplyDeleteActually, yes. I'm surprised that someone would accuse Carver of not knowing where to take the series just because of a rumor, let alone a rumor that may actually MAKE SENSE to the whole Heaven/angel storyline.
ReplyDeleteWell Isle seems to have a real stick up her butt about the show. Everything that happens is horrible, yet she can't seem to stop watching, even though she appears to get zero enjoyment out of it.
ReplyDeleteYou probably could have replaced Richard Speight Jr. with any other actor and it would have probably gotten the same reaction.
Seriously, get the stick out of your butt! GOSH!
ReplyDeleteHe faked his death before. I wish they'd retcon that Gabriel nonsense. I liked him better when he was just The Trickster/Loki.
ReplyDeleteYEEEEES. I hated it when they pulled that Trickster is Gabe nonsense. It wasn't needed. And I really wanted one of the Archangels to have a female vessel, too. Gabriel would've been awesome for it.
ReplyDeleteDidn't both Sam and Dean come back from the dead?
ReplyDeleteyes plenty of times but on supernatural there is dead where u got to up Heaven or down Hell or If your a monster then Purgatory thats dead they have a chance to come back rather a deal or whatever then there is dead dead no coming back from that.
ReplyDeleteIt is not hard for him to come back, God can bring anyone back, Maybe he needs there to be an Arch Angel I don't care what the reason I just want him back
ReplyDeleteCould possibly be that it is not Gabriel coming back at all but the actual Trickster that Gabriel was pretending to be...I was under the impression that Gabriel was pretending to be The
ReplyDeleteTrickster, so theoretically, the real Trickster is out there, and looks exactly like Gabriel did - right?
I guess there was Raphael, for an episode or two.
ReplyDeleteYeah...I want Cas to take down Metatron, but I would be happy if Gabriel was a big part of it too. Given that he also lived among humans, in hiding, for millenia, it would fit if he took Metatron out.
ReplyDeleteWell, he tweeted just a few mins ago there are no future plans to bring him back. :(
ReplyDeleteI'd take even a flashback of him...
ReplyDeleteThis would be really awesome if true but I wonder how they would go about doing this? Never the less I'm certainly interested. I really hope this season ends on a high note. The show really needs that right now.
ReplyDeleteUm he is dead dead right so how would that work.
ReplyDelete"Gabriel" could come back in 9.18 if he's part of Metatron's 'screenplay'; since there's no substantive, monotheistic 'creation story' other than Gabe (5.10) telling Sam and Dean "from the minute Dad/God 'flipped on the lights' we knew it was going to to you (two)" and in 6.20 where Cas was narrating that he had an 'older brother (angel)' who told 'not to step on that fish...' (supporting evolution) - maybe the SPN God 'wrote' "everything" into existence'. And in 9.18 Metatron is trying his hand at 'being the SPN God". Phew :)!
ReplyDeleteWell, he hasn't shown much promise outside a few concepts. So color me skeptical. I mean the writers can't write for Sam and Dean and they've had years of material to look at to get a characterization.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I LOVED the Trickster aka Gabriel, I probably wouldn't want that return. He went out a hero, fighting for the people he stood for. One of the death scenes that were just.. right, you know? Not that I wanted him dead, but it was well done. Just like Ellen, Joe or Bobby (I think I'm in the minority there).
ReplyDeleteI know, it's Supernatural and we don't really know that much about what happens when Angels die (or do we know that and I forgot?), but it would just scream for some weak excuses and a cheesy plot wrapped around that. They tend to overdo the death-resurrection stuff, which just makes me lose ANY bad feelings about deaths on Supernatural at all. :) You just get used to it.
Then again, that's just my opinion. It could be done well, but I'm rather sceptical. Something else I wanted to say: I often read how people criticizing the show should stop watching. The times where I loved the show are long gone, BUT I still like it and enjoy a lot of things about it. So, no. For now I'll stick with it. :)
My thoughts exactly. But I don't get my hopes up, we probably won't get rid of all the angels until the series finale. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteYes they did several times
ReplyDeleteAngels dont go to purgatory, They would be killed there, Cas always had help when he came back but I do know angels dont go to purgatory
ReplyDeleteI soooo disagree. I have loved this season. It is one of my favorites and I love the angel/demon storyline as well as the men of letters, I wish they would have more on that and more knowledge of it. I know there is plenty of research in all the books. Actually I would have thought they would have used more on that. I loved this season and am said it is almost over. I love Richard but I m not sure about Gabriel. He was alot of trouble. Like I said I love RIchard
ReplyDeleteI think Jeremy Carver is fantastic, THis show is fantastic. He has done a great job and I think most people agree. All the fandoms and people that I have talked to think the show is fantastic This is one of my favorite seasons. I just wish Cas had been in it more
ReplyDeleteright they don't go there they would get killed yeah its been a while since i seen the 5th season but they thought it was god who brought Cas Back but i thought h said a single cell regenerated and he could come back.
ReplyDeleteI doubt this is true, mostly because they have killed like everybody. I'm still mad about Bobby!!... I have issues :D...
ReplyDelete
