Scene Of The Week - April 27, 2014 - POLL

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great scenes that we've seen recently.

ARROW, "Seeing Red", April 23, 2014, Actors: Susanna Thompson, Stephen Amell, Willa Holland, Manu Bennett, The Scene: Moira's death
Justyna Kubica:
Farewell Moira. You’ll be dearly missed. Even though I considered the possibility of Moira Queen dying I never expected it to happen so suddenly, so soon. Not to mention the circumstances. This scene was absolutely heartbreaking. The utter despair on everyone’s faces. Moira realizing what’s the connection between Oliver and Slade. Oliver’s desperate attempts to convince Wilson to kill him, not his family. Thea’s reaction to her brother trying to save them and then to her mother sacrificing her life for her children. Moira bravely standing up and facing death, telling her daughter to close her eyes. And Oliver laying on the ground next to her… Everything about this moment was absolutely painful, beyond sad and incredibly well done. So many amazing performances by the cast. Especially Stephen Amell and Susanna Thompson who perfectly used her last episode to really shine. I always believed her to be one of the most talented members of the cast so it makes it even harder to let her go. I did not see this one coming. I am very impressed. I am deeply saddened. Kudos to the cast & crew for their amazing work.
Pablozky21: Probably one of the most surprising twists on the season. Taking us back to the moment where Oliver had to choose between Shado and Sarah, Slade now puts him on the same position with his mother and his sister, which makes it incredibly affecting. Moira won everyone's heart when she stood up with a lot of courage to face Slade, telling him that they both know how her children are going to walk out from there alive. And then she is stabbed with a sword. It is heartbreaking as it is inspiring, and as Slade walks away- but not without taunting about killing Thea too- one is left so shocked that it is hard to react. It is an amazing moment, but a heartbreaking one as well.
Daniel van der Veer: This was a really heartbreaking scene, and all the actors involved gave it everything they could. My specific praise goes out to Susanna Thompson, who really brought her A game for not just this scene, but for the entire episode. Moira will be missed very much, but her self-sacrifice was the perfect way out for her character. Also picked by Macie Potts, diana mack, Bradley Adams and Jamie Coudeville

BABY DADDY, "Livin' on a Prom", April 23, 2014, Actors: Derek Theler, Chelsea Kane
The Scene: Danny gives Riley the prom she always wanted
Klutzy girl:
It ended badly for him - not sure how he hasn't given up when he repeatedly gets his heart broken - but it was still so sweet. And hopefully Riley will realize what's right in front of her soon.

BATES MOTEL, "Meltdown", April 21, 2014, Actors: Freddie Highmore, Nestor Carbonell
The Scene: Romero questions Norman whilst fixing his shower rail (picked by DarkUFO)

BELIEVE, "Bang and Blame", April 20, 2014, Actors: Jake McLaughlin, Johnny Sequoyah and more
The Scene: Bo learns Tate's her father and wakes up
Justyna Kubica:
I’m so glad that both of them finally know the truth. I am very much interested to see how things are going to change between them now. In one of the most emotional moments on the show Bo’s fading and Tate holds her desperately asking her not to make him lose her. Not now when they finally found each other. I really enjoy watching their father-daughter bond grow each week. Lately it seems that on many of my shows there’s quite a lot of questionable characters with shady motives and actions that make it hard to find anyone to root for. But a little girl with powers and her dad, even when he’s all angry and confused, are people I actually like keeping my fingers crossed for. It may not be the best show, but it’s a very enjoyable one. And in this truly great scene we get to see one of Jake McLaughlin’s best performances on the series yet. I hope we're gonna see more of the reaction from Bo in the future episodes, she was surprisingly calm and quiet for a person learning the truth about her father. Still, seeing Tate caring so much about his little girl was such a meaningful moment and I hope we get to see more of father-daughter bonding scenes before the season (and sadly probably the show as well) ends.

CASTLE, "That '70s Show", April 21, 2014, Actors: Jon Huertas, Seamus Dever
The Scene: Ryan and Esposito mimic the '70s cops from a documentary
Tonya Papanikolas:
OMG. This was my favorite moment from this episode. Ryan especially was hilarious with his blonde long hair and mustache and jive talk. I loved it! It was so fun.

FARGO, "The Rooster Prince", April 22, 2014, Actor: Billy Bob Thornton
The Scene: Malvo retrieves the package from the mail room
DarkUFO:
Brilliant dialog from Billy Bob Thornton.

HANNIBAL, "Shiizakana", April 25, 2014, Actors: Hugh Dancy, Mads Mikkelsen
The Scene: The end scene
Diana mack:
Hannibal enters in his office and finds Will and the dead Randall on the table. Then Will says "Now we're even." Sharon Seymour: "Now we're even steven".

MARVEL'S AGENTS OF SHIELD, "The Only Light in the Darkness", April 22, 2014, Actor: Chloe Bennet, Brett Dalton, The Scenes: Skye learns Ward's a traitor & The last scene on the plane
Justyna Kubica:
Skye is probably the character that grew on me the most in the series. She wasn’t one of my favorites when the show started but after a while her character got a chance to shine and she became quite a talented agent and a trusted member of Coulson’s team. I never got too involved in the romantic aspects of the show, I just really love the bond between everyone on the Bus, the friendship and loyalty between them, Coulson and May, FitzSimmons, later Coulson and Skye who seem to have a very lovely father-daughter vibe, etc. And now everything’s falling apart. Ward’s a traitor, the team has lost their faith in Coulson. It’s truly sad to look at things from this perspective. Even heartbreaking when you think about moments like this one, when Skye realizes the truth about Grant. Her reaction was just spot-on, a wonderful work by Chloe Bennet. Her panic, tears, the entire breakdown truly portray the tragedy of the situation our Agents of SHIELD found themselves in. It’s a huge scene for the story, a great character defining moment and a very emotional part for the viewers. I really enjoyed the show from the beginning but now it’s one of my favorites. Kudos!
Klutzy girl: Skye figures out Ward is HYDRA. Chloe knocked that scene out of the park, and it was sad to see how terrified Skye was. I love that she pulled herself together in the end, but that meltdown in the bathroom felt real. Also picked by Jamie Coudeville and Macie Potts
Virginia Fontana: The last scene between Skye and Ward on the plane.

ONCE UPON A TIME, "Bleeding Through", April 20, 2014, Actors: Lana Parrilla, Sean Maguire
The Scene: Regina and Robin kiss
Samy Bgs:
We'd been waiting for so long for them to finally kiss! Though I thought Robin would make the first step! Also picked by Virginia Fontana

ORPHAN BLACK, "Governed by Sound Reason and True Religion", April 26, 2014, Actors: Tatiana Maslany, Maria Doyle Kennedy, The Scene: Mrs. S protects Sarah
Jamie Coudeville:
I don't know what Mrs. S' agenda is but she was kick ass in this episode. Love having her back, but I do wonder what her role in all this is. She definitely knows a lot more than she's letting on.

PARKS AND RECREATION, "Moving Up", April 24, 2014, Actors: Chris Pratt, Amy Poehler, Adam Scott and more, The Scenes: The time jump at the end & The Mouse Rat reunion at the unity concert
Klutzy girl: Seeing the Knope-Wyatt triplets was fun, along with the fact that Aunt April and Uncle Andy were baby-sitting them. I was a little wary at first, especially since I'm a little sick of time jumps, but I'm looking forward to seeing how this drives next season. Excited to see what happens next!
Pablozky21: The Mouse Rat reunion at the unity concert - on an episode that felt like a series finale it is hard to choose an specific moment when everything felt into place. The Mouse Rat reunion is probably my favorite part because it is a nod to everything that has happened before in the show, with Andy singing "5,000 candles in the wind" and with Ron Swanson finally revealing his "Duke Silver" persona to join them in the concert. It is amazing because it feels like Andy's final bow- even when it isn't- and it serves his character amazingly well.

SALEM, "The Vow", April 20, 2014, Actor: Kevin Tighe
The Scene: Giles Corey's death
Sharon Seymour:
Giles Corey, played by the excellent Kevin Tighe, gets stoned/crushed to death.

THE AMERICANS, "Martial Eagle", April 23, 2014, Actors: Matthew Rhys and more
The Scene: Phil has to kill the young recruit who wouldn't keep quiet (picked by DarkUFO)

THE BIG BANG THEORY, "The Anything Can Happen Recurrence", April 24, 2014, Actors: Johnny Galecki, Mayim Bialik, The Scene: Amy confess to Leonard her jealousy towards Penny
Pablozky21:
This season has been another step forwards for the show as I feel the characters have never been as honest with each other as they have been now. When Amy tells Leonard that sometimes she wishes she was as close with Sheldon as Penny is with him it really echoes to the great chemistry both Penny and Sheldon have on screen; that's not to say that Amy and Sheldon don't have chemistry- because they have, and a lot-, but Sheldon can be more loosen up with Penny than with Amy. It's also nice that Leonard can assure her that he will eventually warm up to her too. With Sheldon, everything is a matter of time.

THE BLACKLIST, "The Pavlovich Brothers", April 21, 2014, Actors: Megan Boone, Ryan Eggold
The Scene: Tom and Liz's fight
Daniel van der Veer:
Finally Mr and Mrs Keen are exposed. When Tom finds out that Liz knows, he attempts to escape only to be captured by the Pavlovich brothers and taken back to Liz. It's a fight we have been waiting for since we discovered Tom's real identity: Mr Keen vs Mrs Keen. Also picked by Bradley Adams

THE FOLLOWING, "Silence", April 21, 2014, Actors: Valorie Curry, Natalie Zea, Tom Cavanagh
The Scenes: Claire kills Emma (picked by Sharon Seymour and Macie Potts) & Kingston Tanner kills himself to save his son (picked by Bradley Adams)

THE GOOD WIFE, "All Tapped Out", April 20, 2014, Actors: Julianna Margulies, Matthew Goode and more
The Scene: Alicia defends Finn Polmar
Tonya Papanikolas:
Alicia kicks some butt in the prosecutor meeting defending Finn Polmar. It's actually been nice to see Alicia take some time to grieve and strongly feel a sense of loss. It felt right for the character and how much she had lost in Will. But after that, it was then nice to see her kick back into high gear and devote her energy into making sure that Finn, who tried to help Will during the shooting, is not used as a scapegoat by the prosecutor's office. Fiery Alicia is back.

THE MENTALIST, "Forest Green", April 20, 2014, Actors: Robin Tunney, Pedro Pascal
The Scene: The end scene

Tonya Papanikolas: I wasn't expecting this twist. Pike and Lisbon's relationship has moved faster than I expected and she will have to make a decision about Pike sooner now. I can't wait to see what happens.
Diana mack: Pike tells Lisbon about his job offer then he proposes her to go to D.C. with him. Lisbon just stares and looks uncertain.

THE TOMORROW PEOPLE, "A Sort of Homecoming", April 21, 2014, Actors: Alexa Vega and more
The Scene: Hillary blows herself up
Daniel van der Veer:
I haven't been a big fan of Hillary, but she went out in quite a big way. After betraying Stephen, she somewhat redeemed herself by blowing hersefl up at Ultra. While I'm pretty sure The Founder teleported out, it was still noble of her to try and stop the ongoing war between The Tomorrow People.
