CBS 8.5/14
NBC 5.3/ 9
ABC 2.6/ 4

-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Tuesday 4/09/13
NBC: +10, CBS: + 4, CW: -25, Fox: -39, ABC: -59
———-
-Winners:
“NCIS” (CBS), “The Voice” (NBC), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (CBS)
-Honorable Mention:
“Chicago Fire” (NBC)
-Losers (excluding repeats):
“Glee” (Fox), “The Mindy Project” (Fox), “Trophy Wife” (ABC)
———-
-Ratings Breakdown:
It was another clean Tuesday overnight sweep in households for CBS with its line-up of “NCIS” (#1 for the evening: 11.0 rating/18 share), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (9.4/15) and an encore of “Person of Interest” (5.3/ 9), which bested an original installment of competing “Chicago Fire” on NBC (4.5/ 8) by 18 percent despite not being original. Already renewed “Chicago Fire,” which built by 25 percent from sitcom “Growing Up Fisher” (#2: 3.6/ 6 at 9:30 p.m.), is a lock for leadership in all the key demos, however.
“The Voice” was the standout on NBC, of course, with a second-place 7.5/12 in the overnights from 8-9 p.m., which will top the night in adults 18-49 (and other young adult demos). Thanks to “The Voice,” lead-out comedies “About a Boy” (#2: 4.5/ 7 at 9 p.m.) and aforementioned “Growing Up Fisher” (#2: 3.6/ 6 at 9:30 p.m.) bested two more episodes of “The Mindy Project” on Fox (9 p.m.: #4: 1.7/ 3; 9:30 p.m.: #4, 1.8/ 3) by an average of 131 percent. Note to Fox: You may want to reverse your decision to renew sophomore “The Mindy Project,” which is just not an option (and never will be).
“About a Boy” and “Growing Up Fisher” also outdelivered competing ABC comedies “”The Goldbergs” (#3: 3.0/ 5), which is a lock for renewal, and “Trophy Wife” (#3: 2.2/ 3) by an average of 56 percent. As that old saying goes, lead-in still does matter.
Earlier in the evening on Fox was fading “Glee” at yet another series low, with a 2.0/ 3 from 8-9 p.m. Comparably, that was 43 percent below year-ago occupant “Hell’s Kitchen” (3.5/ 6 on 4/09/13). Future episodes of “Glee” this season will feature Oscar winner Shirley MacLaine in a multi-episode arc.
ABC’s disappointing “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” increased by nine percent from one week earlier, with a 3.8/ 6 in the overnights from 8-9 p.m. And a repeat of “Resurrection” closed the night for the alphabet net after aforementioned “The Goldbergs” (#3: 3.0/ 5) and “Trophy Wife” (#3: 2.2/ 3) with a 1.5/ 2 at 10 p.m. As a reminder, “Celebrity Wife Swap” will return on ABC in the Tuesday 10 p.m. hour next week.
The CW capped off the evening with encores of “The Originals” (#5: 0.7/ 1) and recently introduced “The Hundred” (#5: 0.6/ 1).
With Carson Daly” closed the night with a 0.8/ 4 at 1:30 a.m.
