Tuesday 4/29/14 Metered Markets
Clean Sweep for CBS; Respectable Sampling for “Supernatural” Pilot
Household
Rating/Share
CBS 9.2/15
NBC 5.2/ 8
ABC 2.8/ 4
Fox 1.8/ 3
CW 1.3/ 2
-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Tuesday 4/30/13:
CW: +62, CBS: + 8, NBC: -19, ABC: -51, Fox: -38
———-
-Winners:
“NCIS” (CBS), “The Voice” (NBC), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (CBS), “Person of Interest” (CBS), “Chicago Fire” (NBC)
-Losers (excluding repeats):
“Glee” (Fox), “New Girl” (Fox), “Trophy Wife” (ABC), “The Mindy Project” (Fox), “Celebrity Wife Swap” (ABC)
———-
-Ratings Breakdown:
It was another clean overnight household Tuesday sweep for CBS with its line-up of “NCIS” (#1: for the night: 11.0 rating/17 share), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (9.5/14) and “Person of Interest” (7.3/12). But a competitive second-place 7.2/11 for “The Voice” on NBC at 8 p.m. means that the race demographically will be much closer than the 77 percent overnight advantage CBS has over NBC.
Supported by “The Voice,” 9-10 p.m. lead-out NBC comedies “About a Boy” (#2: 4.3/ 7) and “Growing Up Fisher” (#2: 3.6/ 5) were at typical overnight levels and are both worth renewing. And sophomore (and already renewed) “Chicago Fire” capped off the night with a second-place 4.6/ 8 at 10 p.m., which was 24 percent above year-ago occupant “Grimm” (3.7/ 6 on 4/30/13) and could very well win the time period in the key demos. Comparably. “Chicago Fire” built from “Growing Up Fisher” by 28 percent.
It was Tuesday business as usual on ABC, which is not necessarily a positive, with its combination of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” (#3: 3.8/ 6), “The Goldbergs” (#3: 3.1/ 5), “Trophy Wife” (#3: 2.1/ 3) and “Celebrity Wife Swap” (#3: 1.9/ 3), which at this point needs to be put to rest. Comparably, “The Goldbergs” and “Trophy Wife” trailed the competing NBC comedies by an average of 34 percent.
Elsewhere, Fox finished in the distant No. 4 spot with its deteriorating combination of “Glee” (#4: 1.9/ 3), “New Girl” (#4: 1.8/ 3) and “The Mindy Project” (#4: 1.7/ 3). And the proposed pilot from The CW’s “Supernatural” (titled “Bloodlines”) scored a 1.4/ 2 in the overnights at 9 p.m. last night out of a 1.3/ 2 for “The Originals” at 8 p.m. Comparably, both dramas were on par from one week earlier.

From this demo,it's impossible to guess Supernatural spin-off's rating.hoping for 0.9,fearing 0.7!!
ReplyDeleteAgents of Shield really doesn't hget the numbers it deserves.
ReplyDeletedid you like the backdoor pilot? because I didn't - the cast is good, but it feels like "The Originals" rip-off. :(
ReplyDeleteI think FOX should have aired the 6th season of Glee in the summer, renew Almost Human and maybe try it out in Tuesdays so it could bring at least some more ratings; the show withstood The Olympics, so I think it could have survived in Tuesdays and a couple of demo tenths could actually help New Girl a little
ReplyDeleteIt had its chance but unfounately it ruined it
ReplyDeleteI watched it, didn't feel like a Supernatural spin-off.
ReplyDeleteI hated it except nate's character david. He was decent. If it does get picked up for series, count me out.
ReplyDeleteunfortunately, none of that will happen in reality!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe Glee is getting a full sixth season with those awful ratings. They are going to get 0.5 next season.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like the episode either, but I hate seeing this show get bad ratings. It was rather mediocre though...
ReplyDeleteFox cancelled Almost Human
ReplyDeleteI think Fox will put Glee on Friday.
ReplyDeleteSo there saying SHIELD has another disappointment?
ReplyDeleteTV shows can't expect people to stick around for 15 episodes until the show gets good. This isn't the 90s.
ReplyDeleteProbably and fans should expect huge budget cuts.
ReplyDeleteI'm betting now that there's some real payoff - which some of knew was coming all along - this will be the summer's binge watch show. I'm betting the ratings are better next year.
ReplyDeleteso true,same situation with TTP!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched TTP but all the fans say the same thing. People usually watch 4-5 episodes before they tune out.
ReplyDeleteBloodlines, not sure what to make of it. The episode was alright, didn't feel like SPN. I'm not crazy about the Romeo and Juliet side of it. Also, aren't shapeshifters supposed to shed skin in between shifts?
ReplyDeleteHope they focus more on Margo. SPN has no badass females anymore.
Good for Supernatural, shows that the spinoff could work
ReplyDeletewhat fans? 0.8 demo. Seriously FOX dumped Almosf Human because they made the bad deal with a dying show last year. The ratings were already sliding fast.
ReplyDeleteWoah at that 1.0 for Supernatural! Guess people were curious about the potential spinoff.
ReplyDeleteSo Bloodlines did bette than The Originals pilot last year. This probably enhances its pickup chances even with everyone being "meh" about the episode so far.
ReplyDeleteDid Mindy really beat New Girl?
ReplyDeleteYep :)
ReplyDeleteIt is sad when a CW beats/ties with 4 broadcast show
ReplyDeletePlus SN was only .1 behind Mindy
here to spread positivity
ReplyDeleteit looks like we did pretty decent at least???
i liked the spin-off
yeah it not's /SPN/-ish but it;s not really suppose to be. it's suppose to be a spin-off from the series and focus more on the monster factor, less on everything else.
it has potential to be GOOD if people would give it a chance and stop looking at it through the lens of SPN
cuz compare it to SPN no it won't measure up but look at it from a different perspective, i think you'd be surprised how much potential it does have. yes its weak but ALL BEGINNINGS are weak. and then they pick up later
i for one have hopes for this new show and i hope it succeeds rather than fail like half the fandom is calling for.
it's not a cheap spin-off or making a mockery of SPN
no it was made to be different and i see that. i see where the writer who is working on this show, is trying to take this new show. trying to make it better in CERTAIN AREAS, that SPN never will be or futilely attempts to change.
i will watch it and give it the support it needs
cuz like Revolution, this was made by a member of this SPN crew and i believe they do deserve at least a tiny bit of backing instead of HATE and terrible reviews.

NCIS ties The Voice in first half-hour.
ReplyDeleteOh and excellent for the CW; FOX needs to redo Tuesday's next year (but they won't). Glee is going to be hitting .7/.6 next season at this rate. :\
ReplyDeleteHopefully this means The CW's dismal ratings streak may be over.
ReplyDeleteHow the mighty The Voice has fallen. It's only two-tenths above NCIS, while (I believe) it used to hit 4.0s. Glad NCIS is up though, it was a great episode!
ReplyDeleteYup, for the first time ever!
ReplyDeleteFOX should have canceled their entire Tuesday line-up
ReplyDeleteThe backdoor pilot of The Originals got the same rating (April 25, 2013), but more viewers (2.24mil). I hope Supernatural keeps the 1.0 :)
ReplyDeleteit will still be strong next season
ReplyDeleteReally? I thought it got a .9….well either way it's still an excellent rating for the episode.
ReplyDeleteBut it should be troubling for them that on Mondays DWTS is actually gaining ground against the Voice. Its actually improving on its fall ratings. And rising in demo.
ReplyDeletethe voice always drops towards the end of the season alot of people lose interest once their favourite contestants are eliminated then return to watch the next season
ReplyDeleteOnce again, I agree with you :) and I hope Supernatural keeps its rating in the finals.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the originals is starting to rebound a bit following dip after Claire Holt's depture
ReplyDeleteDespite all the hype Agents of Shield Is performing somewhat like OUAT
I have seen some fans defending the decision of a full sixth season here and in other websites. They think people are going to tune in next season because it's a "new concept".
ReplyDelete:DDDD and oh me too! hoping for strong ratings for the last 3 eps *fingers crossed*
ReplyDeleteIt has happened before. Usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
ReplyDeleteYeah, David was the best part of the episode. If it gets picked up I hope they tweak the premise and focus more on the David's character.
ReplyDeleteit did get a 0.9
ReplyDeleteFinally!
ReplyDeleteHappy POI is up from last week.
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree :)
ReplyDeleteFOX is pitiful.
ReplyDeleteWell the last few episodes were bores on top of that. last night's episode though got a bit of the flavor back.
ReplyDeleteNope, it got a 1.0. http://stvplus.com/show/186/Vampire-Diaries#episodes
ReplyDeleteDear God FOX. You know something is wrong with your network when The CW ties both shows it competed with in the hours in the demo and your highest of the night is a 1.1...
ReplyDeleteI know, I'm saying they should have renewed it instead
ReplyDeleteYeah, I had to go back and look, it got an 0.9 in the overnights but it adjusted up to a 1.0 in the finals. Man it sucks that TVMediaInsights lost their board history, used to be able to go over there and pull the stuff up real quick.
ReplyDeleteGood for Supernatural! Happy the backdoor pilot ratings were decent.
ReplyDeleteAoS episode was great, wish the ratings reflected that a little more.
Thank you for pointing out the shedding skin thing! I was watching when he just "changed" and literally yelled "WTF (fully spoken not actually WTF) was that!" That and Margo being able to change without the full moon though I think they did that earlier this season too...I'm chalking it up to that whole "Bloodlines" thing...maybe if your a "pure bred" for how long your powers work differently...
ReplyDeleteThe Mindy project finally out grew New girl! I expect it to be like this next week
ReplyDeleteThe thing with Glee is that they still sell music, so maybe that's another reason why FOX is keeping it. I think FOX likes Glee and they get enough money from the songs to support the show...
ReplyDeleteCould've been...but if they are directly descended from the first kind with no other monster blood or human blood mixed in it might be the same...
ReplyDelete
