This table shows the early overnight ratings. These ratings are normally adjusted later in the day when all the ratings have been consolidated to take into account any local preemptions and/or overruns. Tuesday 4/22/14 Metered Markets
CBS Wins; NBC Poised for Demographic Victory
Household
Rating/Share
CBS 6.0/10
NBC 4.8/ 8
ABC 2.6/ 4
Fox 1.7/ 3
CW 1.4/ 2
-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Tuesday 4/23/13:
CW: +75, NBC: +12, CBS: -29, Fox: -32, ABC: -59
———-
-Winners:
“NCIS” R (CBS), “The Voice” (NBC), “NCIS: Angeles” R (CBS)
-Losers (excluding repeats):
“Glee” (Fox), “Celebrity Wife Swap” (ABC)
———-
-Ratings Breakdown:
CBS topped the Tuesday household overnights despite airing all repeats with its line-up of “NCIS” (#2: 6.7 rating/11 share), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (#1: 6.4/10) and “Person of Interest” (#1: 4.9/ 8). But NBC is the network to beat among adults 18-49 (and other key demos), of course, with its line-up of “The Voice” (#1 for the night: 7.5/12), “About a Boy” (#2: 4.4/ 7), “Growing Up Fisher” (#2: 3.7/ 6) and a repeat of “Chicago Fire” (#2: 2.7/ 5). “About a Boy” and Growing Up Fisher” owe any audience they have to “The Voice,” no doubt.
On ABC, “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” finished third in the 8 p.m. hour, with a typical 3.9/ 6 in the overnights. While there is every reason to believe “S.H.I.E.L.D.” will be back for season two, this is not the big hit the network was hoping for. Next on the alphabet net were repeats of comedies “The Goldbergs” (#3: 2.2/ 3) and “Trophy Wife” (#4: 1.6/ 3) from 9-10 p.m., followed by week two of the new season of goofy “Celebrity Wife Swap” at a mere (and third-place) 2.1/ 4 at 10 p.m. “The Goldbergs” is a lock for renewal, but chances are the axe will be swinging on “Trophy Wife” in the near future.
Elsewhere, Fox averaged an anemic 1.7/ 3 for the night with its combination of “Glee” (#4: 2.0/ 3), a repeat of “New Girl” (#4: 1.1/ 2) and an original installment of “The Mindy Project” (#3: 1.7/ 3), which built by 55 percent out of the “New Girl” encore. And “The Originals” (#5: 1.3/ 2) and “Supernatural” (#5: 1.4/ 2) increased by 17 percent from one week earlier.

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.
If you’re interested in Ratings/Renewals/Cancellations then we have a number of resources here at SpoilerTV that we recommend you check out.
I'm not surprised Supernatural and TO did better. There were no pre-emptions this time. I hope there's no pre-emptions tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see what the ratings for SPN and TO are like without the pre-emptions. Hopefully they can recover some of their viewers, I know the shows will be down in the spring but I'd like to see SPN finish out the season in the 0.9-1.0 range if possible.
ReplyDeleteGlad TO did better, the show indured some tough hits. Hope for a more coherant story in Season 2 not to push it to much just to keep it simpler.
ReplyDeleteWTF, Shield? Very nice episode after some also great episodes and these numbers?
ReplyDeleteAnd people watch "The Voice" over AoS.... *shakes head in disappointment*
0.6 for The Originals? seriously? I can't believe it.
ReplyDeleteIs the CW in danger??
ReplyDeleteNo, it isn't. They are 10% up from last season.
ReplyDeleteReally? Wow...Seems like the season started strong. but puttered out. Oh well up is up.
ReplyDeleteSpring is being so bad to the Cw.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know, there weren't pre-emptions yesterday, so it's even more sad to see a new series low.
I hope Arrow and The 100 do good enough tonight.

Wow Supernatural managed to get a 1.0 and The Originals got a 0.6. That's bad.
ReplyDeleteSucks for The Originals, glad Supernatural bounce back (mostly). I hope it comes in with a 1.0 in the finals.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural's rating is so impressive.
ReplyDeleteSupernatural got a 0.9 overall, it might be adjusted down later on and The Originals might get adjusted up which would make the difference less bad I guess. But if they do stay as they are, that 0.6 isn't looking too pretty. Especially as it got a 0.7 with preemptions last week. Was last nights episode really bad or something?
ReplyDeleteI agree and I don't even watch the show. I just hope Arrow and The 100 do well tonight.
ReplyDeletewow The Originals, that's bad. If SPN can get back to 0.9/1.0, TO has no excuse. There weren't any preemptions either.
ReplyDeleteI think people have forgotten about the the awful ratings Cult, Emily Owens and 90210 got last season.
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched the last episode but the previous one was really good so I'm surprised it did this bad.
ReplyDeleteI miss Cult. But you're right, they had some truly awful ratings last season. CW has been spoiled by having four big performers for most of the year, I guess we forgot how bad The CW had it last year.
ReplyDeleteOuch for The Originals. It should have gone up like Supernatural did.
ReplyDeleteAnd Nikita and Carrie too. No wonder they are up even with the 2014 Spring meltdown.
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping Arrow/100 pull up. Weird that at the end of the season with storylines wrapping up shows are not pulling better numbers. Don't people wanna know how it all ends?
ReplyDeleteSo good for AAB ...
ReplyDeleteDitto:)
ReplyDeleteCult... that cliffhanger u_u
ReplyDeleteImpressive ratings for supernatural,TO,on the other hand,is sinking fast!!
ReplyDeleteWTH TO :((((((((( It was good ep
ReplyDeleteI like that haha. That's how I will refer to it in the future. The CW Sping Meltdown of 2014.
ReplyDeleteIt was! Lotta chaos! I enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteI miss Cult too. It was a really underrated and brillant little show.
ReplyDeleteI think the shows will I increase for the last two episodes of the season.
ReplyDeleteOriginals is crashed and burned.
ReplyDeleteI watched TO and thought the episode was pretty good - several interesting new developments.
ReplyDeleteI'm rooting for The 100 to get at least 0.6 and Arrow to do much better than last week, too.
