This table shows the early overnight ratings. These ratings are normally adjusted later in the day when all the ratings have been consolidated to take into account any local preemptions and/or overruns. You can find all the final adjusted numbers in our Ratings Database. (See the About section below for details about ratings)

Monday 3/31/14 Metered Markets
Heavy Tune-in for “How I Met Your Mother” Series-Ender
Household
Rating/Share
ABC 8.0/12
NBC 7.5/12
CBS 5.7/ 7
Fox 3.8/ 5
CW 0.9/ 1
-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Monday 4/01/13:
CBS: +73, CW: +50, ABC: -13, ABC and Fox: -19 each
———-
-Winners:
“Dancing With the Stars” (ABC), “The Voice” (NBC), “How I Met Your Mother” (CBS), “The Blacklist” (NBC)
-Disappointing:
“Friends With Better Lives” (CBS)
-Losers (excluding repeats):
“Star-Crossed” (CW), “The Tomorrow People” (CW), “Intelligence” (CBS)
———-
-Ratings Breakdown:
ABC opened the week with another victory in the household overnights, thanks to “Dancing With the Stars.” And NBC is a lock for leadership in adults 18-49 (and the other key demos) as a result, of course, of “The Voice.” But the one-hour series-finale of nine-season CBS sitcom “How I Met Your Mother” rose to a second-place 8.6 rating/13 share n the overnights from 8-9 p.m., which could very well beat competing “The Voice” (#3: 7.6/11 in the first hour) demographically. Compared to last week’s regularly scheduled half-hour, “How I Met Your Mother” increased by 43 percent.
Next on CBS was the series-premiere of sitcom “Friends With Better Lives,” which fell to third with a 5.1/ 8 in the overnights in the 9 p.m. half-hour. Comparably, that dipped from regularly scheduled “Mike & Molly” last week (5.5/ 8 on March 24) by seven percent, with retention out of the second-half of the “How I Met Your Mother” finale (8.5/13) of just 60 percent. In other words, this is very disappointing and chances of “Friends With Better Lives” holding up in the Monday 8:30 p.m. time period (out of relocated “2 Broke Girls”) are slim.
Already renewed “Mom” followed “Friends with Better Lives” with a compatible 4.8/ 7 at 9:30 p.m. And it led into the season (or series) finale of freshman drama “Intelligence” at a last-place 3.9/ 6. Chances of “Intelligence” returning are nil.
Over at ABC, healthy “Dancing With the Stars” dominated the 8-10 p.m. block, with a 9.6/15 in the overnights. And that led into an encore of “Castle” at a second-place 4.9/ 8 at 10 p.m. (which beat the original installment of competing “Intelligence” by 26 percent).
On NBC, demo dominant “The Voice” was also on the map, with a 7.6/11 from 8-10 p.m. And freshman hit “The Blacklist” on NBC closed the night with a first-place 7.2/12 at 10 p.m.
Elsewhere, Fox dramas “Bones” (#4: 3.8/ 6) and fading “The Following” (#4: 3.3/ 5) were close to week-ago levels despite the increased competition. And The CW’s low-rated combination of recent entry “Star-Crossed” and relocated “Beauty and the Beast” each scored a 0.9/ 1 in their 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. time periods.

It's The Tomorrow People, Berman, not Beauty and the Beast!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see The Blacklist up. :)
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed star-crossed last night! It had action, drama, shipping from several characters.
ReplyDeleteI'm just hoping Bones got at least 1.0.
ReplyDeleteI think FWBL didn't do well because after HIMYM finale everyboby turned off their TV, as the end was so disapointing that lot of them told themselves that they would never watch a sitcom again... ^^
ReplyDeleteRegardless of TTP and SC ratings, they have helped Monday
ReplyDeleteAnd in the meantime Star-Crossed is getting 38,000 viewers or so in Australia and still ranks in the top 20.
ReplyDeleteWow batb for ttp :D super rude
ReplyDeleteHmmm I hope this translates to at least a 0.4/1 (not that it has any chances to be any higher than that) for The Tomorrow People
ReplyDeleteThe Blacklist up!!!
ReplyDeleteTTP is always on the loser list, will end with a cliffhanger for sure...
ReplyDeleteGood show, just too little, too late...
HIMYM hits series highs in viewers and demo of 5.3 and 12.9 mill. viewers!
ReplyDeleteHIMYM demo….wow, fantastic and richly deserved!
ReplyDeleteBones does a 1.5 while Following does a 1.4
ReplyDeleteI knew the finale would cross 5.0 with ease.
ReplyDeleteThe Voice: 3.4 . The Blacklist: 2.8.
ReplyDeleteBlacklist still so powerful, good :-)
ReplyDeleteHIMYM did a 6.1 in women 18-34 demo, and a 5.8 in the male 18-34 demo.
ReplyDeleteFunny how CBS assumed FwithBetterLives would gather positive from the HIMYM final. With such a blast of a final everyone turned their TV off.

I know it's lead-in was huge but am I the only one who thinks that the 2.7 for FWBL isn't THAT bad. It's a mid-season comedy and most of CBS' comedies are now hitting low 2's (2BG, M&M, Mom, TCO, TAAHM and The Millers without the big lead-in would too).
ReplyDeleteI'm so proud of Bones :)
ReplyDeleteIt is bad how it lost 50% of the demo. And seeing that that the 2nd episode airs two weeks later, it's likely it will fall below 2.0.

I hope HIMYM beats TBBT this week.
ReplyDeleteActually surprised it beat the episode that aired before the TAAHM season 9 premiere but excited.
ReplyDeleteWas it likely to sustain any more of that demo though? Probably not.
ReplyDeleteReally hope TTP does not adjust down.
ReplyDeleteWoah, I just noticed the ratings for TTP. That was a surprise. I have yet to see the episod.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a sarcastic and subtle hint from his side about TTPs current status ?
ReplyDeleteBones went up against stiffer competition than the Following, wow good for you Bones
ReplyDeleteWow for The Tomorrow People. Great numbers.
ReplyDeleteHIMYM finale did great (I'm talking numbers, people!)
Ouch, The Following.
Steady and great for The Blacklist. :)
It was an amazing episode
ReplyDeleteI guess TTP's not going down without a fight. Of course, it could always adjust down... we'll have to wait and see. It would have to get 0.5's in every episode until the end of the season to stand a chance, I think, and even then it depends on how much further The 100 drops.
ReplyDeleteI like these TTP ratings! Let's hope it doesn't adjust down!
ReplyDeleteI wish that was enough. I really like SC and TTP.
ReplyDeletea little better to Star Crossed but not enough for a second season, unfortunetely.
ReplyDeleteYeaaaaaaah baby!! TTP goes up! I knew it had some (TK)fight left in it! Awesome episode! I cant wait for season 2!!
ReplyDelete
