This table shows the early overnight ratings. These ratings are normally adjusted later in the day when all the ratings have been consolidated to take into account any local preemptions and/or overruns. Wednesday 4/16/14 Metered Market Ratings
Fading “American Idol” Leads Fox to Victory
Household
Rating/Share
Fox 5.8/ 9
CBS 4.9/ 8
NBC 3.2/ 5
ABC 2.6/ 4
CW 1.7/ 3
-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Wednesday 4/17/13:
CW: +70, NBC: + 3, CBS: – 6, ABC: -26, Fox: -33
———-
-Winners:
“Arrow” (CW)
-Down But Still Solid:
“Survivor” (CBS)
-Losers (excluding repeats – 58 percent of last night’s line-up was non-original):
“Mixology” (ABC)
———-
Ratings Breakdown:
With CBS in repeats from 9-11 p.m., Wednesday overnight dominance fell in Fox’s corner. But a 5.8 rating/9 share in households for fading “American Idol” from 8-10 p.m. was 33 percent below the 8.6/14 on the year-ago evening. “Survivor” on CBS topped the 8 p.m. hour again, with a 5.9/10 (versus a 5.6/ 9 for the first hour of “American Idol”). And its advantage in the key demos is expected to be higher than the five percent overnight lead. One year earlier, “Survivor: Caramoan” scored a 6.5/11. As for last night’s installment: How do you like that…another blindside!
Airing out of “Survivor” were encores of veteran crime solvers “Criminal Minds” (#2: 4.3/ 7) and “CSI” (#1: 4.4/ 7) from 9-11 p.m.
Elsewhere, NBC finished in the distant No. 3 spot with its repeat line-up of two telecasts of “Law & Order: SVU” (8 p.m.: #4: 3.1/ 5; 9 p.m.: #3t, 3.6/ 6) and “Chicago PD” (#2: 3.0/ 5). Only sitcom “Mixology” on ABC was an original telecast, and it scored a fourth-place 2.4/ 4 at 9:30 p.m. (out of a 3.6/ 6 for a repeat of “Modern Family” at 9 p.m.). Earlier in the evening on the alphabet net were encores of “The Middle” (#3: 3.4/ 6) and “Suburgatory” (#4: 2.5/ 4) from 8-9 p.m. And sophomore “Nashville” closed the night with a third-place 1.8/ 3 at 10 p.m.
To the readers wondering why there were so many encores, April encores bring May originals. The networks are saving the remaining original telecasts of the season for the May sweeps.
Over at The CW, “Arrow” was a standout at an above average 2.0/ 3 at 8 p.m., and it led into a 1.4/ 2 (#5) for episode five of drama “The 100” at 9 p.m., which was equal to one week earlier. Chances of a second season of “The 100” look very positive.

Hope The 100 rises in the demo!
ReplyDeleteGood going Arrow/The 100! Let's hope that translated into sizeable increases from their last episodes!
ReplyDeleteGreat for Arrow!!! The show is freaking awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteThe 100 is really good :) but it's also being a little bit unlucky. How many pre-emptions did it face already? it's unfair. Last night, Arrow and The 100 were pre-empted in Chicago
ReplyDeleteIf The 100 had more 18-49 viewers, the ratings would be higher and we (the fans) could be a little bit more calm. I don't want it to be in danger until the upfronts.
I hope The 100 gets 0.5 or 0.6 with 0.8 for Arrow and no adjusting down, please.
Good for Arrow. Maybe it can become the top rated show on The CW this week.
ReplyDelete0.5-0.6 for The 100 and 0.8-0.9 for Arrow.
ReplyDeleteArrow and The 100 are probably the best show on the CW right now (excerpt "Supernatural) so yay for them!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget TVD.
ReplyDeleteAMAZING for ARROW.
ReplyDeleteCould that translate to a 1.0 for Arrow? Im dying for it to hit 1s again. In any case awesome ep last night! The Hundy was really good too!
ReplyDeleteI'd love that, but in that case, the difference of rating between Arrow and The 100 could increase. The 100 had a nice retention so far and I think it's important to keep it.
ReplyDeleteNot good for The 100 to be even with last week with a new Arrow as a lead in.. and there were pre-emptions.. Starting to think its not going to be that safe afterall
ReplyDeleteYeah, I haven't/
ReplyDeleteArrow and The 100 are much better the Supernatural imo
ReplyDeleteYes, a new Arrow as lead-in and there were some repeats on the other networks, but I think you should also consider that Chicago is a big market. Even The Originals and Supernatural lost viewers, because of the pre-emptions.
ReplyDeleteThe 100 was pre-empted last week, too, and specially for a newcomer series, that's not something useful.
Wrong place but, will the SPN backdoor pilot still be shown? Or am I getting it confused with the Flash one that was held off on?
ReplyDeleteYes, it will :) here's the date of airing: 29 April.
ReplyDeleteGreat thanks!
ReplyDeleteAnd Idol officially falls below a 2 on performance night. I know it might be adjusted up, but... STILL.
ReplyDelete0.6 for The 100. Sounds good! I did not expect another 0.7 for Arrow.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately Arrow fell to 0.7 u_u but still good retention for The 100 (0.6). I hope they won't be adjusted down.
ReplyDeleteArrow tied its series low (only this time with less viewers). Let's hope that there's an updwards adjustment coming later on today. Damn. Good for The 100 though I guess?
ReplyDeleteArrow.....7?
ReplyDeleteThe viewer numbers for Arrow and The 100 look like they are switched. We wont know until finals, since adjustments are likely due to preemption in Chicago.
ReplyDeleteArrow is a "winner" with a .7? I knew the CW had low expectations but I didn't think they were THAT low.
ReplyDeleteThe viewers have just been updated. Arrow isn't at a series low in viewers which is something I guess? But if there were preemptions do you think we could be seeing downwards adjustments on the way?

The total amount of viewers isn't too bad for The 100 either. But again, it skews old/too young.
ReplyDeleteViewing numbers should be fixed. I had a brain freeze ;)
ReplyDeleteThe episodes aired before 3 AM so technically they could still be counted into the final ratings. We did see Originals adjust up and also SPN adjust down.
ReplyDeleteDoes anybody know if the baseball game aired in Chicago (Cw's affiliates) was an important one?
ReplyDeleteReally surprised about Arrow only having 0,7. Thought it would be at least 0,9
ReplyDeletei only appreciate those in combination with ice cream :)
ReplyDeleteOh Dam Arrow down these last episodes have been really good and the show just go down, The 100 steady is a good sign and Mixology... Well i'm liking the show i dont care tbh.
ReplyDeleteThe 100 is steady, good news for them!!
ReplyDeleteThe 100 too young. Arrow probably too.
ReplyDeleteYay for The 100!!
ReplyDeleteI think that with those high numbers Arrow could be the first show of The Cw (I mean in the ratings too), while The 100 could compete for the third or fourth place, if only both had more 18-49 viewers.
ReplyDeleteI think The 100 going to be better, I hope so
ReplyDeletepoor for the 100 considering it was against repeats on ABC, CBS and FOX
ReplyDeleteOh my, The CW is having a really bad week. No show has crossed 0.7 so far.
ReplyDeleteI am very happy for The 100 too:!)
ReplyDeleteI don't know who they played but not many games at this point of the season are important unless it's against a team's biggest rival.
ReplyDeleteBecause American Idol was a repeat, right? :)
ReplyDeleteYou meant Nbc's Law & Order Svu? I don't think it shares an audience with The 100.
It's HH is good.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your answer :)
ReplyDeleteThe CW doesn't gernally compete or share an audience with the Big Four. A 0.6 is the CW's second highest rated demo yet for this week, so it's not really bad.
ReplyDeleteoh my yes, I meant NBC. I'll edit my comment
ReplyDeleteMaybe not relative to others, but 0.7 and 0.6 are still very poor ratings.
ReplyDeleteThe CW has lower standards so for that network it is not too bad.
ReplyDeleteI like Revolution and I hope that Nbc will renew it, but that was an encore.
ReplyDeleteSVU was a repeat.
ReplyDeleteWish Arrow's rating would go up a bit. At least equal Supernatural. They used to do pretty much the same when teamed up.
ReplyDeleteAt least the 100 hasn't fallen from last week...
ReplyDeleteNone of their shows are doing 1.0 lately.
ReplyDeleteAll that matters for the shows' survival is which other shows and how many are doing better than them. Arrow is still in top 3 or 4 so it's safe.
Let's hope it adjusts up!
ReplyDeletei think those description switch up
ReplyDelete, winner supposed to be Survivor nor Arrow
Does any body know why the finals aren't being released?
ReplyDelete
