Thursday 4/10/14 Metered Markets
“Shark Tank” Lifts ABC
Household
Rating/Share
CBS 6.4/11
ABC 5.9/10
Fox 3.7/ 6
NBC 2.0/ 3
CW 0.9/ 1
-Percent Change from Year-Ago Evening – Thursday 4/11/13:
ABC: +79, CW: +29, CBS: + 8, NBC: -23, Fox: -44
—–
-Winners:
“The Big Bang Theory” (CBS), “Shark Tank” (ABC), “Grey’s Anatomy” (ABC), “Scandal” (ABC)
-Losers (excluding repeats):
“Community” (NBC), “Parks and Recreation” (NBC), “”Parenthood” (NBC)
—–
Ratings Breakdown:
“The Big Bang Theory” led CBS to Thursday overnight victory once again, but the Eye net’s advantage over No. 2 ABC was only eight percent. Particularly beneficial to ABC was a Thursday 8 p.m. ET airing of “Shark Tank” at a second-place place 4.9 rating/8 share in the households from 8-9 p.m., which bested the series-finale of “Once Upon a Time in Wonderland” one week earlier (2.3/ 4 on April 3) by 113 percent. “Shark Tank,” which is now a definite contender for the Thursday anchor spot on ABC next season, also outdelivered year-ago occupant “Wife Swap” (3.6/ 6 on 4/11/13) by 36 percent. Pretty wonderful, Mr. Wonderful!
“Grey’s Anatomy” on ABC followed with a 6.0/10, which finished first overall in the 9 p.m. hour, followed by “Scandal” at a dominant 6.6/11 at 10 p.m. Overall, this was the alphabet net’s best Thursday of the season with regularly scheduled programming.
“The Big Bang Theory” topped the night, of course, with a 10.6/18 at 8 p.m. Next was time period dependent “The Millers” (#1: 6.4/11 at 8:30 p.m.), which slipped by 40 percent, followed by “Two and a Half Men” (#1: 6.3/10), “The Crazy Ones” (#2: 4.6/ 7) and sophomore “Elementary” (#2: 5.3/ 9) from 9-11 p.m. If CBS chooses not to renew “The Crazy Ones” (which featured a reunion of former “Mork & Mindy” stars Robin Williams and Pam Dawber last night), TBS should consider keeping it alive. This is a quality show worthy of a second season.
Next was Fox with its combination of demo friendly “Hell’s Kitchen” (#3: 3.2/ 5) and fading “American Idol” (#3: 5.4/ 9), which slipped by its year-ago 8-9 p.m. telecast (8.7/14 on 4/11/13) by 38 percent in the overnights.
Elsewhere, NBC’s line-up of “Community” (#4: 1.8/ 3), “Parks and Recreation” (#4: 1.8/ 3), a repeat of “Hollywood Game Night” (#4: 1.8/ 3) and “Parenthood” (#3: 2.5/ 4) just cannot compete. And The CW populated the evening with a repeat of “The Vampire Diaries” (#5: 0.7/ 1) into an original installment of already renewed drama “Reign” (#4: 1.1/ 2).

Not really good for Reign.. 0.5.. ?
ReplyDeleteScandal's HH ratings increased by .2 tenths.
ReplyDeleteis Scandal going to break into the 3's again?
Also, AMAZING showing for Shark Tank.
Just one question: Was Reign preempted?
ReplyDeleteABC has found a show for the Thursday death slot. Hallelujah!
ReplyDeleteI hope so! Seeing Scandal above 3.0 would be so cool!
ReplyDeleteBad night fr NBC; TM and TAHM had almost identical numbers, let's see if this time TAHM managed to grow up from The Millers ...
ReplyDeleteI love that Scandal went up slightly but I'm irritated with Parenthood's rating. That was the best episode of the season!
ReplyDeleteThursdays have been a bad night for NBC for pretty much this whole season.
ReplyDeleteAccording to SitcomsOnline, Shark Tank did a 2.1 in the top25 markets.
ReplyDeleteAccording to sitcoms online, Scandal did a 3.4. in the top25 markets. Let's hope that that number holds.
ReplyDeleteScandal did a 3.4 in the top 25 markets.
ReplyDeleteSo, with luck something in the 3.0 to 3.3.?
ReplyDeleteYeah, it most definitely will be lower than 3.4.
ReplyDeleteShark Tank doing 2.1 in the top 25 markets should sound like PURE GOLD for ABC ...
ReplyDeleteHow high do you think Scandal will go for it's finale? Top this season's premiere?
ReplyDeleteI am thinking it might score record high.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is if doing that will destroy their Fridays. I think it would be worth trying out a GA/Scandal/How to Get Away with Murder thing.
ReplyDeleteTBBT got only a 4.5 in the top 25. Looks way too low.
ReplyDeleteI've been preaching that block ever since I learned of HTGAWM.
ReplyDeleteAlso, isn't there a possibility of making Shark Tank a 2 night event, in the lines of AI and The Voice?
Yeah, that is what I feel like they should try too. It got 2.1 in the top 25 and it's essentially pulling the same ratings on a Friday. Is it worth taking the risk?
ReplyDeleteMaybe there were preemptions?
ReplyDeleteI don't watch Shark Tank and have absolutely know idea what's it about lol.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I heard, the panel is made of entrepreneurs who listen to ideas from aspiring entrepreneurs and guides them through the process of marketing and the like.
ReplyDeleteSo, if Scandal goes above a 3.0, then, it will have beaten the Tuesday edition of The Voice. Truly a beast.
ReplyDeletecould also be a 0.6, even if it is less likely:
ReplyDeleteThe last time it got a 1.1 in HH:
1.48 Million Viewers and a 0.5 rating
The last episode of Reign got a 1.3 in HH:
1.40 Million Viewers and a 0.6 rating
HH numbers usually indicate Viewers and not the demo:
So expect a 1.3-1.5 Million Viewers with a 0.5-0.6 rating in A18-49
Looks like having a repeat of TVD was bad for Reign. Too bad, it was an amazing episode.
ReplyDeletestill good, so expect a 0.5 in the demo, it could also be higher or lower, which I don't expect.
ReplyDeleteIf Reign and The100 both get .5s and TTP got a .5 on a Monday. I wonder how that would work for it.
ReplyDeleteSurviving Jack?
ReplyDeleteYes, a Thursday night totally driven by Shonda dramas may be a great scheduling temptation for ABC. Also I assume that (and IF it's going to work) ms. Rhimes could become on of the most powerful personas in the TV biz. About Shark Tank, I don't think ABC will pull it from Fridays (what could they possible do without ST? on Friday nights?).
ReplyDeleteReign is already renewed. And TTP has got 0.4 multiple times and a 0.3 twice.
ReplyDelete1.6 for Shark Tank... something like 25% less than the usual Friday night demo.
ReplyDeleteWow! 3.0 for Scandal. I'm sure it'll adjust up. Still, a great number! Go Scandal!!
ReplyDeleteNew series low for Community?
ReplyDeleteWow! 3.0 for Scandal. I'm sure it'll adjust up. Still, a great number! Go Scandal!!
ReplyDeleteSad for Community. :'(
Oh shit, 0.4 for Reign.............
ReplyDelete3.0 for Scandal!! Hoping the season finale does at least a 3.0!
It did a 1.6 :/
ReplyDeleteI didn't expect that. I wonder if there were pre-emptions.
ReplyDeleteHopefully, Reign will be adjusted up.
Noo Reign!Hope it adjusts up.
ReplyDeleteIf there were pre-emptions, then it means it will be adjusted down, not up
ReplyDeleteMaybe people didn't know Reign was new since VD wasn't.
ReplyDeletea 0.3 once.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping there weren't pre-emptions, so there would be a little chance to see it adjusting up :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe. I wish more people checked Cw's websites and youtube channel. The promos (that say the date of airing) are released after a few hours and I know they are even shown when the episodes of the series end.
ReplyDeleteHoly cr*p! ST is TBBT killer - at least in terms of viewers. Almost doubling Wonderland's demo. Ha for the so-called "death slot." ABC better switch schedule for remainder of season.
ReplyDeleteOr they couldn't wait and watched it online as it already aired in Canada..
ReplyDeleteFan excuse bingo.
ReplyDeleteWow, Shark Tank didn't do as well as Fridays it did effect it's competition today.

And once again, I say that Reign didn't deserve an early renewal. CW have waited till the upfront to renew it.
ReplyDeleteYou think Shark Tank caused that?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely.
ReplyDeletethey can't cancel a show and back out of another episode commitement. The episodes WILL be produced. Wether they will be aired is entirely up to the network but that'd be a waste.
ReplyDeleteSeason 2 WILL be made. No worries on that.
A third season won't happen the way things look now, Reigns showrunners should probably think about properly ending the show with season 2 to give it a round and satisfying ending. That's the good thing of that situation, the writers knowing beforehand to end it without leaving the show open ended.
0.4 Reign really? such a great episode and just a .4 GOD i hate this ratings!
ReplyDeletethey should at least have waited with it, Reign looks pretty weak at the moment. At this point the line that seperated Tomorrow People and Reign is starting to blur.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I am not saying that reign shouldn't be renewed, but they should have waited till May. it's ratings are not near as good as the other showed they renewed.
ReplyDeleteYa gotta love ABC there highest rated show for that night and one of highest rated overall is having a shorter season. I get why that is but its just kinda stupid from a business standpoint.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprised if the CW makes the same mistake with The 100 and renew it prematurely. Of all the remaining shows, I really think that TTP is their safest bet. The 0.4 rating for Reign does surprise me though. I'm not a big fan of Reign, but out of the episodes I've seen, I think that last night was definitely one of their best.
ReplyDeleteI thought Scandal's season was shorter because of Kerry Washington's pregnancy. It was probably out of their control.
ReplyDelete
