CBS is now the network to beat in the Wednesday overnights, with a 0.2 rating point advantage over second-place Fox. “Survivor” opened with a dominant 6.2 rating/10 share in the household overnights from 8-9 p.m., which inched past the first half of competing “American Idol” on Fox (6.1/10) by two percent. But while “Survivor” year-to-year was consistent, “American Idol” overall (6.1/10 from 8-10 p.m.) slipped by 27 percent.
“Criminal Minds” (6.6/10) and granddaddy “CSI” (6.1/10) on CBS both led their time periods from 9-11 p.m. But the two dramas did lose steam from one year earlier, with “Criminal Minds” down by 13 percent and “CSI” down by 16 percent. Regardless, there is every reason to believe the Wednesday line-up on CBS next season will remain consistent.
NBC finished third overall for the evening because only sitcom “Mixology” on ABC (#4: 2.3/ 4 at 9:30 p.m.) was an original. On the fence “Revolution” on NBC was replaced by a repeat of “Law & Order: SVU,” which opened the night with a fourth-place 3.0/ 5 in the overnights at 8 p.m. Next was the regularly scheduled edition of “SVU” at an above average (and third-place) 5.3/ 8 at 9 p.m., followed by already renewed “Chicago PD” at a second-place 4.6/ 8 at 10 p.m., which was 15 percent above the 4.0/ 7 one week earlier. Although “SVU” has not been officially confirmed to return next season, expect a green light once a financial agreement is met.
Next was ABC with its line-up of encores of “The Middle” (#3: 3.3/ 6), “Suburgatory” (#4: 2.4/ 4) and “Modern Family” (#4: 3.4/ 5) from 8-9:30 p.m., aforementioned “Mixology” (#4: series low 2.4/ 4) at 9:30 p.m., and a repeat of “Nashville” at 10 p.m. (#3: 1.7/ 3). To the fans of “Nashville” wondering if their cult favorite drama will return for a third season, my personal prediction is yes. Given ABC’s current woes in the new drama department this season, critically acclaimed “Nashville” will likely be back.
Over at The CW, overnight growth of 27 percent for episode four of “The Hundred” (#5: 1.4/ 2 at 9 p.m.) out of a repeat of “Arrow” at 8 p.m. (#5: 1.1/ 2) is all the more reason to believe a second season is in the cards.

Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above.
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.
