The Blue French Horn returning! It was what the entire series was about. It pulled 9 seasons of episodes together in a more meaningful romantic and poignant way!
I liked the whole thing, but my three favorites had to be (1) Barney meeting his daughter, (2) meeting the Mother and (3) final scene with the return of blue french horn. All three scenes were just so beautifully done and beautifully acted.
And honorary mention to the return of the Cockamouse. First episode of HIMYM I ever watched and they had me hooked.
I LOVED the return of Cock-a-Mouse too! Actually all 4 scenes you mentioned.
I would add one to the list as well even though it was hated by many people... When Robin finally admitted to Lily that she knew she let Ted get away and that she would be happier with him in her life.
That was the moment I was positive Ted and Robin ended up together.
I also couldn't help but love that entire scene as well. It made me sad to see Robin so sad, but I knew things would turn out okay for her in the end. That's why I really want to see that dang deleted Ted/Robin scene...I felt like the scene at the Halloween party was some of the only real insight we got into Robin for almost the entire finale, so that cut scene would have clarified how she was feeling that little bit more.
I'm interested too although personally, I think that scene at the party was clear enough without any more backstory.
Even her use of the word "beautiful" to describe Ted and Tracy's baby.. To me it showed that she wanted Ted to be happy and appreciated how beautiful Ted and Tracy were together as well. It crystallized to the viewer that Robin regretted that she was not the one being happy with Ted. Regret, not jealousy.
You know what the worst part of the finale was for me? It totally hit me with surprise! I am usually very afraid of series finales, because I know many writers screw them up, but not with HIMYM. I was soooo calm, I thought the whole time: Craig and Carter did such an amazing job with this series, I trust them completely. I wasn't concernd at all :( And then we got the worst ending ever written, it's just disrespectful to all fans to finish a series like this...
Ha yes, I'm interested for purely personal reasons as well. And frankly for the benefit of everybody else as well. I personally thought it was sufficient to let viewers know where she was emotionally regarding Ted, but I don't think it was enough for a lot of the viewers. And I feel like that scene could have clarified a few PAST things that I'm curious about, though. Like when she turned down Ted after she told him she couldn't have children. She said it wasn't about Barney, and I definitely believe her...but I have always wanted to know the why. Is it as simple as the fact that she really didn't love him at that moment in time, or is it that, after giving it thought on her camping trip, she realized she just couldn't take away the opportunity for Ted to have a family? I've always wanted to lean toward the latter, but to know for sure would be great.
And I definitely agree. It's all in the wording. I think you can see Robin's regret, but, as you said, also that she knows it's best for Ted to get the ideal romance and family he's always wanted. So yeah, I think she regretted that she couldn't be that person for Ted, but didn't regret her decision to not get back with Ted since he got that happiness with Tracy. Even the wording of Ted calming Robin down before the wedding...telling her that he didn't love her "that way" anymore. Doesn't mean he didn't still love her, but that he could finally put aside that love and open his heart up to Tracy. And that certainly doesn't mean he was pining for Robin while he was with Tracy, which is what I feel like most people perceive it as.
Ted meeting the mother hands down After day and a half after watching the ending i think i just aceptted it, first i thought "This is total crap, it can't be" , then "well if they hadn't made so much of B/R moments it could actually work" and now "Life is not always perfect, B/R loved eachother so much 'The Robin' the 'i had one challenge and one challenge only:, get Robin Schrebastky to fall in love with me' and all of those moments were real, but how Barney said 'it was a successful marriage that only happened to last 3 years' apart from that Ted parts make sense , except for the future possibles akward reunions with the 5 and R/T as a couple"
Its a total toss up between Ted meeting Tracy on the train platform and Barney meeting his daughter for the first time. I was uncontrollably emotional during both...smiling and squealing with Ted and Tracy and crying with Barney and his daughter.
Difficult to choose between the blue French horn (I love the whole scene, the way it mirrored the pilot, brilliantly done) and Ted meeting The Mother. I've voted Ted meeting The Mother (or Tracy as we now know her!) as it was so sincere and effortless. I was worried that the finding out of The Mother's name would feel really forced, as everyone's been wondering for so long, but it wasn't at all.
But honourable mention goes to pretty much every scene, except Robin/Barney divorcing so quickly (not done well at all) or the fact that Ted/Tracy didn't marry for years (I feel like Ted would just want to marry the woman he loves, not wait for a fancy wedding!)
Ha it's so true though...I really can't find fault with a single scene except just wanting them to last longer. But given the 45 minutes they had, it could hardly be better. Like you said, practically a perfect representation of the whole show in less than an hour. Hard to get more impressive than that!
I watched it again (for the fifth time) with a friend just minutes ago and I would like to change my answer! XD
Every scene was awesome. It was the perfect representation of the entire series in 45 minutes. From Ted meeting Robin in the beginning scene, to losing her, to accepting he cannot be with her, to to finding his true love, to realizing he still loves her and wants to be with her in the last scene!
Funniest and most poignant episode of the series honestly! Even the cast was unable to hold in their joy and laughter at times during the filming of the scenes it was so funny! XD
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Ted meeting the mother, by far.
ReplyDeleteP.S: You forgot to add Barney meeting his daughter scene which I am sure many people would have liked.
Thanks! I did have that, but polldaddy likes to delete options sometimes. Thanks for spotting.
ReplyDeleteWhen Barney hold his daughter. Really great scene with amazing acting. NPH nailed it.
ReplyDeleteNo problem.
ReplyDeleteThe Blue French Horn returning!

The last scene...
ReplyDeleteHow about a 'what was your least favourite scene' poll with the option of 'everything but....[in the comments]' ?
ReplyDeleteHa.
ReplyDeleteLucky you... :/

How Ted met Tracy!!!!!It was such a perfect scene but then they had to ruin it.....aarrgghh everytime i remember the finale i get angry!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED the return of Cock-a-Mouse too!

ReplyDeleteThe scene where this whole train wreck of a finale is mercifully retconned?
ReplyDeleteI'm interested too although personally, I think that scene at the party was clear enough without any more backstory.

Hmm, not to "all" fans...I´m a fan and didn´t find the ending disrespectful at all, I loved it:)

It should have been an option for nothing, because although 'how Ted met the mother' was a good part, so was the part destroyed by the end! :p
ReplyDeleteHALLOWEEN PARTY??? It was just sad, I hate robin after that!
Ted meeting The Mother.
ReplyDeleteBitterness ahead, though:
"Kids, let me tell you the long, convoluted story of how I met your mother so I can get permission to fuck Aunt Robin!"
Yes, sorry my mistake :) To most of the fans^^
ReplyDeleteGood for you that you loved it, you got the ending everyone deserved :D
None.
ReplyDeleteNah, Ted meeting the mother and Barney meeting his baby daugther. Everything else I would throw to the trash can
Amen brother
ReplyDeleteTed meeting the mother hands down

I wouldn't even seee most of the fans more like the loudest one at the moment. I've seen so many fans who absolutely lovd everything about the finale.
ReplyDeleteDuh. How he met the mother.
ReplyDeleteIts a total toss up between Ted meeting Tracy on the train platform and Barney meeting his daughter for the first time. I was uncontrollably emotional during both...smiling and squealing with Ted and Tracy and crying with Barney and his daughter.
ReplyDeleteAww, the link is removed for HIMYM now...will interviews and stuff still be updated here or what??
