  1. Holy fuck, I'm shaking again. That was amazing. Wow at that abusive ass Garrett giving an order to kill Ward to manipulate Skye. Proves my point that he's been manipulating and abusing Ward this entire time.

Aw at Fitz having a meltdown. And whoa at the end!

    ReplyDelete
  2. Ugh! It's killing me to wait! Hope the numbers reflect what everyone has been saying on Twitter...was trending several times in the US and even got Phil Coulson trending world wide!

  3. This episode was AWSEOME. One of the best yet oh my god.

  4. Another awesome episode.

I knew Skye wrote a message and hid it in the picture so someone could find it! But that scene where Fitz broke down and was refusing to believe that Ward is HYDRA was gut wrenching.

Loved the Coulson and Maria fight scene to take out Talbot and his group. So badass.

I'm surprised Skye told Ward that she knows that he's HYDRA. I was expecting that reveal for the finale. And holy shit that scene where they were on The Bus and she says to Ward "I will never ever give you what you want!" was amazing. You go, girl! And it was so great to see him suffer for a minute there.

I was really hoping for a Coulson/Ward showdown on The Bus but I guess that will be for the finale.

LOL at Skye almost falling out of Lola and Coulson goes "I told you to buckle up!" and Skye's hair when they landed on the ground. Hysterical XD

Awww at Fitz telling Simmons that he would have no idea what he would do if she was HYDRA.

And that final scene! Looks like Coulson was a part of TAHITI and now remembers it.

P.S. Absolutely loved all the references like Maria saying "Who or what is a man-thing?", her talking to Pepper on the phone, and Coulson saying to Maria "Say hello to Stark for me, oh wait I forgot, he thinks I'm dead."

Can't believe there are only two episodes left until the season is over. I'm going to miss this show so much.

  5. Maria Hill,Melinda May, Phil Coulon, Poor Fitz. Even Deathlock trended for a while!

  6. I missed Poor Fitz and Deathlock! That's awesome!

  7. Awesome episode. The next one looks even better. By showing Garrett going off the rails, I think they are setting up a Ward redemption story line. Hill's addition was a nice bonus - we got more of her characterization in this episode than in any of the films. Hope we see her again.

  8. They were really fast!

  9. I heard Hitler Youth trended too, which ew.

  10. Damn is right.
I mean go Skye for fighting back and telling it like it is. Love fitz he was amazing no believing it's true. Trying to find some small measure of the good man he believes is inside ward.

I do think ward was telling the truth about caring about Skye there was no more point to lie. His face was heartbreaking. Felt bad for deathlock as well, poor mike never catches a break. And yeah Garrett what a butt man.

Like the Simmons and fitz scene by the pool, cute.

  11. Also I still find it interesting that Ward has yet to say "hail hydra". Skye even said it and when she was telling Ward about it, he did not even even want to think of himself as a Natzi so we definitely know that he does not care what it stands for. Only that he is loyal to Garrett for getting him out of jail which looks like he was in the promo. But I think that he will finally realize that Garrett only cares about himself.

    ReplyDelete
  12. He killed Agents of Shield..so his redemption story should take a long while I should think..you don't come back form that easily. And honestly, I just don't buy him as evil..he's too cookie-cutter clean for me…

    ReplyDelete
  13. I also love the fact that Coulson knew exactly what Skye was palnning, that she was playing Ward. He did not for a second believe that she was Hydra.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Wow! This show really does just keep getting better. I'm really getting behind my Ward+Deathlok arc theory for next season.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Even if he doesn't think of himself as a Nazi... he's still a Nazi. Like, he works for an organization that commits genocide and murders innocent people. He's a Nazi, and I will be pissed if they try and make the audience feel bad for a NAZI.

    Another great episode.
Loved Cobie Smulders, I hope she can be, at the very least, a recurring guest star next season. I really liked her kicking Talbot's ass with Coulson at the beginning, and loved the fact that she tagged along because she felt guilty for no realizing Ward was a double.
Now I've never been a Fitz fan, but tonight he was my favourite character. The way he was in complete denial about Ward and how he kept trying to find a reason for his actions felt so real, the way I would react if I were in that possition.
Very well done Skye, for trying to delay Ward, but I kind of dissapointed he didn't pick up on it sooner. I guess we're supposed to chuck that up to the fact that he has feelings for her, and that they are real. I loved when he was trying to convice her of that, it was the first time I actually felt like he was being honest.
Oh Coulson! now that was a twist I didn't expect, and I don't know what to make of it. So, he was in charge of TAHITI... Wow! that's all I have to say about that.
Next weeks episode looks great. Finally some real background on Ward. I guess we'll really find out what part of what he told Skye about his brothers was real and what not... And the fact that there's only one more episode left after this one, makes me sure that he will either die or be redeemed by the end of the season.

  17. amazing ep with a ton of development and reveals... a lot of great scenes but Chloe Bennett really was the star of the ep for me - loved her slow accusation/reveal that she knew all about Ward's duplicity, especially loved her accusing him of being a nazi and him denying it.... loved Fitz's meltdown in realizing that they were betrayed yet again. great seeing Maria Hill again and wtf with the reveal at the end that Coulson was in charge of T.A.H.I.T.I. at one time.... I do wonder if Ward will flip back, or at the very least leave Garrett/HYDRA and be an independent agent before long, I think that Raina might as she definitely didn't seem too pleased that the Claivoyant was a fraud...

    ReplyDelete
  18. Victoria Llanos30 April 2014 at 04:14

I don't think they'll even try that. They will however try to show us how he was never loyal to HYDRA but to Garrett and hope that that's enogh for the audience to let the NAZI fact slip... Not that it will work, but if they go the redemption road, that's most likely what they'll do.

HYDRA took it's first steps standing on the NAZI regime, that makes them, at the very least, their accomplices.

I m fan of good Ward, but i think he will suicide in the season finale when he realize what have done.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Victoria Llanos30 April 2014 at 04:28

I really hope they don't go that way. Suicide is a very delicate topic, and I don't think it can be addressed accordingly on a show like this one. However, I can see him sacrificing himself in order to save the team.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Well, the answer being in Coulson's grave was predictable. Called it.

  26. Victoria Llanos30 April 2014 at 04:49

    LOL, yeah, you literally did.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I have watched The First Avenger and I have read the comics and HYDRA was a terrorist organization not only affiliated with the Nazi Regime, but other fascist regimes throughout history. Same shit, different pile :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeah, I figured they'd go that route and try and make him a sad and misguided soul.... even if they didn't, I wouldn't be surprised if people still made excuses for Ward's Nazi ass.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Victoria Llanos30 April 2014 at 05:02

LOL, don't be surprised if I am one of those pathetic posters who make excuses for him farther down the line, I happen to be a sucker for lost, misguided souls, as you put it. LOL

  30. Hail Skye! Oh god when they were first on the plane together and her shifting looks of fake happiness and complete and utter disgust. I love Skye and how she is like 'eww fuck no' at Ward being in love with her. Seriously I'm glad she has faith in Mike still but not Ward.

Maria was perfect and her face when she kicked some ass, yeah she had been missing that! I'm happy her and Coulson made up aww.

Not enough May but hopefully will be rectified next week, happy she is back in the fold.

And that ending, woah so the Tahti was originally meant to be to bring back a dead Avenger if anything happened. Damn. Not sure using alien tech on an ordinary human was a good idea, someone like Thor or Steve Rogers could handle it better probably. Really messed up.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Should have let him die though - I will be extremely disappointed in he turns on Hydra and winds up returning to the team after all he's done... regardless of what brought him to this point he can never ever be trusted again and needs to die (perhaps saving Skye) or spend the rest of his life in the Fridge (or the new Fridge since the other one has holes in it).

    ReplyDelete
  32. Only because he didn't think Hitler was thinking big enough - the Red Skull was effectively a bigger Nazi than Hitler.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I do want him to die but he was right Skye isn't a murderer - not yet anyway. Hoping he sticks around as a baddie into next season constantly being a thorn in the side of team because Brett plays bad really well.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Is it just me or did someone else get that weird creepy stalker vibe from Ward? Him telling Skye that his feelings were real for her and that he won't hurt her. If that doesn't say "I-love-you-and-will-kill-and-betray-people-for-you-even-if-it-hurts-me-and-you" than I don't know what will!

Skye "falling" out of Lola was by far the funniest thing ever! 😂 "I told you to buckle up!"Oh! And also here's the episodes SkyeWard art. Lol

    ReplyDelete
  35. Simply amazing. May and Maria together, Maria talking to Pepper (I heard that right?), Maria bringing in Talbot and then taking him out, just Maria, in general. Skye playing Ward was flawless, he didn't see that coming, her telling him 'hail HYDRA', perfection. I wonder what sort of a surprise she left with the hard drive, and if the team will ever recover it. I sure hope so, there's plenty of info to gain from it!

We didn't see a lot of May, but what we did see was superb. First digging in Coulson's grave, in broad daylight - classic May imo. And then revealing the truth about the T.A.H.I.T.I. Project (I wish we knew what the letters stand for). Initially it was meant for a wounded Avenger, and in the end Fury used it on Coulson, just shows you how important the guy is to Fury, on a personal level ('cause it had to be personal, Fury knew about the side-effects and decided to ignore them so that he could bring Coulson back to life). I didn't see it coming, Coulson pre-death being the supervisor of the Project. And damn those side-effects! Are Coulson and Skye heading that way? Are they going to find a way to trim down the side-effects? Or did someone improve the drug already? (Coulson seems pretty fine so far.)

Amazing episode, can't wait to see what happens next week. And geez, it's only two episodes left this season! I hope we'll hear about a renewal soon.

    ReplyDelete
  36. yes I got that vibe off him aswell, and due to this it is the first time in my tv-junkie life that I doubt a pairing I love, to have any possebility at all. He was so obsessive creepy, he is so twisted. I was really sad to see Ward that way - but kudos for actor and show going that way. Don't see any redemption for him soon (if he survives), rather want him to go crazy for a while.

    ReplyDelete
  37. but it's a long way for his redemption. His feelings for Sky really creepd me out this time.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't know if Ward's feelings were real, or he was trying a new tactic to play her.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I want Skye to be the one to kill Garrett

    ReplyDelete
  40. I expect Ward will be independent for quite some time, and as I have said, be the show's "Spike."

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think one of the reasons he has faith in her is she wasn't normal Shield.

    ReplyDelete
  42. The one thing I didn't like about her... basically she was willing to sell everyone out. Seriously, she only helped Coulson when she learned he needed a way out, otherwise, she was looking to get him to sell out his team.

I can see her becoming a dark character.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Definitely creepy vibe and how he was up in her face all the time, I'm so happy she basically told him he was scum.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Awesome episode, Ward was a bit creepy but I still want him back with the team, great scenes between Sky and Ward. I think the best scenes are with Lola and May in the grave.
It's like a torture to wait for a next episode.

    ReplyDelete
  45. This episode is starting to show Ward on a redemption road, with him "I'm not taking orders from you" and all to Mike, who I begin to despise anyways. But I prefer Ward to be bad. Although, I think if MARVEL maintains its style, Ward will stay being bad. Awesome appearance by Maria Hill, and I love how consistent this show is with the major MARVEL films like Thor and Captain America. I'm anxious to see how this show pans out now Hill said that SHIELD is gone. Or, were the writers taking the safe road? Like if this show was not renewed, then there is a way to end it? As in SHIELD is gone so everyone is now on their separate ways? But now we know that the show is already renewed, I wanna see how SHIELD will main as SHIELD.

    ReplyDelete
  46. It also shows some of the conflict he has, and next week, apparently we find out how he got the way he is. While I don't think redemption will be fast tracked for him, I think, given the way Marvel Villains often get redemption, it's bound to happen; he will split from Hydra, but not be redeemed; he will so something heroic to help Coulson and Skye, enough that they will not take him down (kill him) but not enough that he won't end up in some sort of lockup. Then, next season, when some new threat demands they get all the help they can get, they will make a deal with the devil, and let him out if he helps them. He will then be independent for sometime, slowly redeeming himself through the deeds he does by himself. That, at least, is how I see his story going.

Also, I'm thinking Coulson and Skye's fate will be a part of the opening saga next year, following Guardians of the Galaxy. They will "go bad" themselves, due to the alien blood, but will be saved somehow (probably something from Guardians) and perhaps this is how Ward will be brought back in for his good deed to get him out of jail.

  47. One of the better eps IMO. I really enjoyed the Skye and Ward scenes. I’m glad the writers dug deep and fleshed out a real conversation between them on the Bus. After the genuine concern Ward has showed for Skye on a number of occations in this ep alone, I don’t believe Ward is a saddist. I’m believing more and more that things are not as simple as they appear. We do not know for sure Ward killed Hand and the other two with her, he killed the men in the elevator at the fridge, but if he hadn’t and he is a double than his cover would have been blown...kill or be killed...he could have shot and killed the two officers arresting Skye but he only wounded them, Mike is ordered to shadow him...how do we know Mike didn’t kill the guy and stuff him in the ceiling? If Ward is infiltrating Hydra he will have to get his hands dirty or risk exposing himself. Plus, the things he said to Skye “one day you will understand” to me sounds like ...one day I can tell you the truth....I didn’t get a creepy vibe, intsead I got the vibe that he was frustrated that he couldn’t be completely honest with her even tho letting her continue to believe he was bad would ruin anything there was between them. And for a guy who lived a solitary life, compartmentalizing his emotions and probably never letting anyone in must really suck. His emphasis on the sacrifices he’s made reinforces my thoughts on this. Some people are rooting for his death, for me his death will be the end of me watching the show. He’s the best character the show has IMO. And I do not want to watch him be the bad guy for a season so, the writers better find a satisfactory conclusion to this storyline or viewers are going to be disappointed either way.

I would have to go back an re-watch but if I remember correctly, when Ward asked to help escort Garrett to the Fridge, Hand said something like “I could use an agent like you” or “you’re just the kind of agent I need”.....sounds like a plan set in motion to me....

    ReplyDelete
  48. No, Marvel constantly has villains becoming heroes (Avengers is full of ex-villains, such as Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Black Widow as examples). In the X-Men series, Magneto switches from villain to non-villain back to villain, depending upon the storyline. Rogue is another villain turned hero. Even Wolverine, in a way. Buckeye in Captain America goes from hero to villain to hero. With the Civil War, many of the heroes do villainous things (think again of the death of Captain America).

    ReplyDelete
  49. Also the whole Avengers vs. X-Men series, long time good ones like Cyclops becomes a villain. Your very right though, happens all the time in Marvel.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Right. And even someone like Venom, at times, is shown to have a heroic side as well. He hates Peter Parker, but deep down, he wants to be a hero as well. He just goes overboard when he tries.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I guess it's more complicated. But in my opinion, I wouldn't classify Buckeye as a villain who turned to hero again. He just saved Captain America and until there's more to it, he's still a villain to me. But I can see though that it's more complicated than that. But a lot of villains stay villains too though. Maybe it's an equal mix up between the two. Like if the villains are written to die at the end, then more likely they have to stay as villains. I'm not a writer so just spurting random thoughts.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Well that is what I was hoping and also believing for up until this episode and even if I don't believe this now, I would not mind if it turned out as you described.

But after rewatching the Nazi speach, I am sure that Ward is Hydra and he believes he is doing the right thing and that at some point Skye will see it as he does. And the way he tried to convince her of his feelings shows what damage compartmentalizing has done to him. He still has problems expressing his Feeling and thats why it came off as creepy to me. And no I don't want his death. He makes everything more interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  53. In the comics, Buckeye becomes Captain America after Captain America is "killed." Before then, he became a hero once again. Not just saving Steve's life. We are talking about Marvel and the core stores which the movies and shows are using and adapting. Buckeye is not a villain in the end.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I don't think Ward is Hydra. I think he is something else: he is Garrett's right hand man, and whatever Garrett is, he is with Garrett. He isn't ideological, like Hydra, nor even just seeking "the winning side" like Garrett (who isn't really Hydra ideologically), he's just a confused man taken in by a Charles Manson like cult figure who made him feel total loyalty to the cult leader (imo).

    ReplyDelete
  55. Very true, good point.

    ReplyDelete
  56. ok, I actually agree with you. All the talk with Maria (another awsome scene) gave more the impression of unhappy politics for Ward (and Garrett). But the way Ward is defending his compartmentalizing is a Nazi (thus Hydra) method, thats why I have not been differentiating.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I agree with that, as well. While he might not think of himself as Hydra, and while he might not be officially Hydra, he is morally their equivalent (if not worse, in some ways, knowing what he knows).

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hmmm, something new I learned. I'm not really knowledgeable in MARVEL universe, so I guess you have a point there.

    ReplyDelete
  59. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venom:_Lethal_Protector if you have not heard of this aspect of Venom, you might find it interesting.

  60. Gotta say loved Coulson in this ep. The rescue, poor LOLA. The scene with Skye and Coulson in the car was hysterical. Also MAy in the cemetary was a hoot. And Coulson discovering who was behind T.AH.I.T.I perfect and yay May is back.

    ReplyDelete
  61. That was great! Wow at the end did not see that coming but that is just perfect! Loved Coulson's "Uh" at the very end.
Poor Fitz having a complete breakdown that was heartbreaking!
Glad Skye fought back! And send Ward to hell!
It was very nice to see Maria Hill again, specially when she kicked some special forces asses with Coulson, I loved that she was talking to Pepper. Everytime there's a reference to the Marvel Universe in that show I giggle it's so awesome!

Do we know if the Avengers will ever learn that Coulson is still alive? I would sure love to see that, maybe he will be mention it Avengers 2, a girl can always hope!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Best Post Captain America episode for me! My favourite part was when Skye implied Ward is a big, fat freaking Nazi. And Cobie Smulders...Can we just like keep her forever?

    ReplyDelete
  63. I feel so vindicated now that we know Coulson murdered his own men. Though I still want to see him show some remorse about that.

I loved the way she got back at him. So cool!!!
Not going down without a fight!!

    Oh, that ending, THAT ENDING!!
No one saw that coming, kudos for the writing team.
But, best part of that ending?
    Coulson's "huh"
    I laugh so hardddd!!!

  65. Why Would I Tell?30 April 2014 at 23:54

So let me get this straight:

Coulson was the lead scientist/agent on the TAHITI PROJECT -The one trying to find a possible solution if an Avenger was near death or fatally wounded.

The results of the test showed that it didn't end well for any of the subjects, with mentally and/or physical deterioration, but their odds were slightly increased if they didn't remember what they had gone through, right?

And so Coulson told Fury to scrap the entire project and that the drug should not be used on anyone EVER.

So not only did Fury NOT scrap the project, he used Coulson's own research on HIM as a guinea pig and sent May in to keep an eye on his progress, like a case study, and keep him from the truth - because that would lessen his chance of a successful result..

So not only did Coulson have TAHITI wiped but they wiped Coulson's entire involvement with the TAHITI project, that might've been been going on for MONTHS or YEARS before Coulson died.

    That's correct right?

    That's insane!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I just reckon there's no coming back to the team from the things he's done and if they have the team even suggest that it would be ludicrous. The only final resolution IMO would be prison or death but being the recurring bad guy between now and then would be good - just don't have the team all angsty and conflicted all the time about killing or capturing him to put in prison, and use that to let him escape.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Someone should make a compilation of Skye's reactions to Ward (and Ward's feelings for her) in this episode and send it to. Every. Freaking. Show. Where the girl is in love with the "bad boy" and therefore shoves aside all of the innocent people he's murdered and evil shit he's done because OMG he's so dreamy. Love that Skye had nothing but disgust and contempt for Ward after she found out. She may still have her own feelings for him because these things don't just change overnight, but she's also got a solid head on her shoulders and a moral compass and she's not going to excuse anything Ward has done. Thank god.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Yes!!! It was such a relief to see her so repulsed by him and I liked that she immediately believed he was Hydra last episode after she discovered Koenig's body . There was no trying to reason his actions, she knew and accepted the facts no matter how hard it was.
