Poor Eric. He didn't deserve that. Rude, Ward. And don't you dare take Skye back to Garrett!
I was worried about this episode and thought I was gonna hate because of Skye finding out. But I must say I did love the episode and can't wait till next week. Also I like the fact that now Skye is playing him eventhough, I believe that maybe in her mind she thinks that maybe she can change him. Maybe that is part of why did is doing it but also was scared that he would hurt her. Also I'm not sure if she believes that Ward cares for her, but I think apart of her does, so she is playing on his feelings. The other thing I liked which shows that Ward is redeemable is the fact that he had a terrible childhood and needed to protect himself. But also that he asked Skye where she wanted to go which says a lot. It tells us that he cares deeply for her and does not want her anywhere near Garrett , so it looks like he wants to run away with her.
aflj;ilhdgduysgal SHE KNOWS!!! This was such an awesome episode!
Amy Acker was wonderful as Audrey and Coulson hearing her talk about him was absolutely heartbreaking. I nearly shed a tear. And the scene where he kissed her on the forehead and then vanished just about broke me. I really hope Amy comes back.
LOL at Simmons answering "tardis" during her lie detector questioning. Loved that! And I'm about 100% sure Fitz is in love with her. He was totally about to say it to her at the end.
Damn, I was starting to like Koenig. Patton Oswalt was hilarious in this role. He'll be missed. Damn you, Ward!
I wonder where Ward is taking Skye now because it sure as hell ain't to go pick up the rest of the team.
And I can't wait till May talks to Maria in next week's episode!
I think that Ward decided that he wanted to run away with her to keep her away from Garrett. He did ask Skye where she wanted to go. HE DOES CARE. Can't wait till next week!!!!!!
Oh boo-freaking-hoo, he had a bad childhood. He's has murderes multiple good guys and I will be pissed off if they try to redeem him because his brother was a meanie and he is sooo in love with Skye. Being in love doesn't forgive murder and she is an idiot if she can forgive that.
loved the ep! very intense moments, notably Ward's lie detector test and Skye trying desperately to gather herself when she realized that Ward is HYDRA well done. I'm guessing that she left a message in that bathroom she was hiding in to tip off the team. Really loved seeing Amy A onscreen and loved how they tied the overtones of Coulson's relationship/secret to Fitz's predicament.... liked how they played Coulson/May's fallout and eventual reunion to a possible reappearance of Maria Hill!
I don't think she will forgive that. She didn't forgive her boyfriend for selling information... imagine forgiving someone for murdering good people.. I think she is too ethical for that.
It hurts me deeply, but I have to agree with you. I really wanted Ward to be redemable, but the more we see, the less likely it gets. I mean, if we could see some inner battle within him for his actions, but he doesn't seem conflicted at all... Still, I'm loving Brett's interpretation of evil Ward, even if I don't like evil Ward himself, LOL.
I am really hoping for a redemption arc for Ward but at this point it is going to be a long road.
It'd be interesting to see him operating alone as a neutral party in the future, alongside Deathlok. That would line up with Deathlok's story from the comics and, maybe, get Ward to a better place for redemption.
Yep! I think Skye for all her ilegal activities has a very developed sense of honor and I can't see her forgiving him, no matter what sob story he has in his past. The more I see, the more convinced I am that closer thing to redemption Ward can get, is dying defending the team.
LOL. Ward asked her where she wanted to go because she said the encryption is location based and they would have to take a field trip at some point. As in they have to be at a specific coordinates in order for her to unlock the encryption. Not because he wanted to run away with her. I really think he does have feelings for her but he did not just run away with her!
I've decided I'm going to retreat to fanfiction and fanvids and ignore everything else until next episode. It's the only way I can pretend there's some hope left for them. Bring on the fics, LOL
Exactly. And didn't he just give na excuse they needed to leave ASAP in order to help the team? So why would they take a field trip.... doesn't make any sense. The plan is to convince her to decrypt the HD in the location necessary and tell her that they are going to meet the team afterwards with the already decrypted HD. Now, I am not sure he would deliver Skye to Garrett willingly or hurt her (unless necessary), but they are NOT running awat together...
Yes, but it's clear Garrett took him out of an abusive situation and manipulated and abused him some more for his own purposes. He never stood a chance.
The only thing his backstory could justify is his blind loyalty to Garrett, but that's that. I suppose what this proves is just how strong Skye is, she comes from hell too, and yet she didn't let her past turned her into something twisted like Ward. But then again, if Coulson had rescue Ward instead of Garrett, the story would be very different.
Oh no. BIG NO. That's going too far for me. Oh, Whedon, don't. Not Fitz, he is so nice, and caring and lovable and he was even brave enough to save May and Coulson during the fight. That would be going too far for me personally. I'm not sure I'd watch the show after that. Killing off Fitz, Skye or Coulson would be crossing the line for me. Not that I dislike May or Simmons, May is actually the coolest character, but she is tough and she seems like someone who would embrace death. I also like Simmons, but I read her a morally ambiguous... she seems to follow the rules up to the point where she thinks it is best for her (or Science) not to. Even her lie detector test was kinda like that.
Fitz is such a great character and there is so much potential to develop him.
I really don't want anyone on the team to die. They've done such a great job building these characters. We already lost Ward. Let us keep everyone else...for now.
I don't agree. He has a brain after all and he is a grown up now. If he was 21 it would be more understandable. He has been around his share of good people to know the difference. Even he knows that he is not a good person and he embraces it. I think he likes the power rush it gives him. His speech to May when she was thought to be the mole was nothing but an ego boost for himself ... he said that the fact May played them all showed him that she was even better than he thought, that she was really really a superb spy, after all, she had managed to play the person she was sleeping with. That clearly shows how high he thinks of himself for pulling that stunt off and he enjoyed saying that.
I think it's because he (most likely) has feelings for Simmons, and they think it'll be a dying confession of love type of situation? I don't really know!
I love the twists on this show. On other shows they always go with the predictable twists - but there are always at least a few bits that are totally off-the-wall on AoS. It makes it so much fun :) I also love how they are turning all of the shipping & romance in such strange configurations so that romance REALLY is secondary.
I do hope May & Coulson work things out, but the falling out was well done overall. This episode I honestly was expecting Ward to win out over Skye - but I am so excited to see where it goes now. I love Skye (I know a lot of people don't but whatever) so I'm especially enjoying this. Sad to see Koenig go - adored the humor he brought and his enthusiasm was very reminiscent of the excitable, pre-death Agent Coulson ("I watched you sleep"). I'm a bit torn about Triplett, on the one hand, he's everything I wanted Ward to be, but on the other hand, now that I know what Ward is (I think) - it seems almost to good to be true.
I do think they are starting to have Fitz develop more than brother-ly feelings for Simmons but the feelings maybe aren't returned? That was the only part of the episode I was a bit meh about. Actually, also, I was a bit meh about Simmons' general cluelessness. Oh! Can't believe I almost forgot - Amy A! I wasn't sure I would like her on AoS. There were times on Angel where I was kind of over her, but I thought she was just perfect tonight - her chemistry with Clark Gregg was LOVELY. Perfect casting there.
Definitely looking forward to the May/Coulson & May/Hill & Coulson/Hill reunions though. :D
I'm thinking she is connected to SWORD. My theory is that SWORD was in charge of the TAHITI project and May's mom will have that information and May can use it to help Coulson and, maybe, repair their relationship a bit.
LOL, don't worry - I'm doing the exact same thing. Unfortunately, it creates unrealistic expectations for the actual episodes and then I'm left going "BUT THIS ISN'T HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!"
For me it is going to be the scene where Audrey is playing to draw in Blackout and Ward is going full psycho in the base. It had me on the edge of my seat.
I'm unhappy to even consider it, but maybe that's the reason Ward pushed him to talk to Simmons. Maybe Ward knows Garrett has evil plans for Fitz. I really hope it's not it.
The idea of poor Fitz being locked up in some dark hole being forced to develop tech for the bad guys makes me all kinds of sad. So that is clearly what will happen.
Tell me about it! I was half expecting Ward to knock Skye up with the sudden influx of baby fics out there, LOL. But seriously, how else does a fan deal in a situation like this? I say bring on those unrealistic expectations! deep down I know he's slipping further and further away from redemption, so I'll take any consolation I can get.
Well, Garrett was very vocal about how usefull Fitz would be for HYDRA, so I can definitely see them kidnapping him and locking him up to make him work for them. I hope not, he seems so... frail. I'm not sure he would be able to comparmentalize things enough to come out relatively okay on the other end.
BTW: What was Skye so desperately looking for in the bathroom? A way to write a message? Something to use as a weapon to eventually defend herself from Ward?
1st of all Simmons has proven that she is the smartest person on the team "...the TARDIS" the episode was awesome...except I was hoping for a little bit more Ward-Sky action; esp before massive betrayal. I think Ward is redeemable and even though he told flower girl that he didnt care for anyone on the team - total bull Ward care otherwise he would have killed May. Though I feel bad for poor Eric. I cant wait for next epi. love teh May/Mom interchange it was awesome.
Well, he obviously has sociopathic tendencies, but if he never knew better until later in life, there's really not much he could do. Wether we accept it or not, we're mostly defined by our upbringing and the enviroment in which that took place. Still, I think that after all this months with the team, he should have a better grasp of honest and good human relations, and he should be able to tell the diference between that and his sick, twisted relationship with Garrett. Who, by the way, I really missed in this episode, LOL
"Still, I think that after all this months with the team, he should have a better grasp of honest and good human relations, and he should be able to tell the diference between that and his sick, twisted relationship with Garrett. Who, by the way, I really missed in this episode, LOL" Agree with every bit.
OH! I just wanted to point out that the Ward that tried giving Fitz advice about Simmons was the real Ward. He had nothing to gain there and stepped out of his undercover persona to try to help Fitz. So...That was a nice moment before things got horrible again.
Was anyone else rather dissapointed with the cellist storyline? I expected more. I really wish Coulson would have talked to her, although their last scene together was quite bittersweet.
Yeah, it was nice, but maybe he knows Garrett has terrible plans for Fitz and instead of avoiding it all he thinks, hmm, let the kid at least try with Simmons before we chain him to a desk and use him as a minion-slave to produce evil machinery.
Yeah, I thought so too. I'm holding onto that tiny silver lining, because it proves that deep, deep down he does care for the team, so maybe there's some hope for him yet,
I see where Coulson is coming from. He can't stay. Why let her know he is alive when they can't be together? He's protecting her the only way he can. It also made him understand why May did what she did to protect him.
I don't think we have seen the last of Audrey though.
Yeah, I was really looking forward too it, and it kinda fell short... That's the problema with expectations... I just expected more from the episode that was supposed to introduce the love of Coulson's life...
According to IMDB, Amy is coming back for the finale. And yes, I get why he did what he did, it was the best thing for her, but as a hopeless romantic, I wanted some sort of reunion...
Oh I'm with you there. When he kissed her on the forehead I d'aww-ed and wanted her to see him when she opened her eyes. But all the best love stories are tragedies.
Nope, it definitely hasn't. Although last episode threw me a few bones with Ward being angry at Garrett for giving the order to shoot Skye and Garrett telling him to try and salvage his cover if she mattered that much. What can I say, I'll take what I can...
Ok, QUESTION (how very Dwight Schrute): it seems to me that they are making Simmons more morally ambiguous and distanced from Fitz, while they are building Fitz' character as braver and even nicer. Clues: a) Simmons is obsessed with the GH 315 and Hydra now has tons of it to analyse; b) Simmons is close to Tripplett, whose allegiance we can not be sure of (if he was Hydra, he knew Ag. Hand wasn't Hydra and could fake the whole resistance); c) Simmons is distancing herself from Fitz; d) Simmons' lie detector test showed she is not truly commited to the cause. f) Hydra has the freezing kid, who could be "their" new Fitz to be paired up with Simmons. Could Simmons go to Hydra while Fitz stays on Shield's side and they not only be separated but arch-enemies who know all from one another?
Ya i realized after I re-watched the episode that it was about going to de-crypt the hard-drive. Also did you notice how all the conversations that Ward has with May, Fitz and Skye that he was indirectly referring to himself. With May he said that "when you have your orders you will do it not matter what they price" With Fitz talking about Simmonds and telling him that Simmonds because you never know when you will have the chance. Then with Skye when he told her that May left and Skye said that "she played them and if she really cared about them" and he said it was her mission, so from that I believe that Ward really does care about the team. there were a lot of good moments with Skye where he was I believe truly honest with her when it came to his brother and about his parents and him not being a good man. So there is definitely hope and there were a lot of hints to his redemption.
This is something that's been turning around my head since last episode when she so openly questioned Coulson. Sure, she was right to question him, but it didn't sit right with the Simmons we were introduced to at the beginning of the season. It would be a very nice twist if she went to HYDRA, I would love to see her going against Fitz, but I'm not sure we've been given enough reasons for her to turn. I mean the Simmons we know is a loyal friend, and I'm not sure what would justify her turning to the man that tortured Coulson and almost killed Skye.
Well, if history has taught us anything is that he loves breaking our hearts and he'll continue doing it, LOL. But I don't think Ward will take Skye to Garrett because no matter how loyal he is to him, he must know he will torture her and disect her, and I really want to believe that's a line he wont cross. Hopefully, it's not just wishfull thinking.
Now, besides the action and awesomeness, there was also a lot of funny moments...
"The NSA. You want to hack the NSA? That's a bad idea, Skye. That's a terrible idea. The NSA's already got S.H.I.E.L.D. on its watch list. Why poke the bear--the big, scary, waterboarding bear?" Loved it!
"And nothing bad happens when you work with something called "Darkforce."
Ok, but her life is devoted to Science and if she believes that GH 315 is going to save thousands of people she might be able to be convinced to work for Hydra "for the greater good" and "for the sake of science".
Im not entirely convinced that there are not HYDRA agents that are not deep cover. One might expose themself as a hydra agent so another will not be suspected.
Agreed. I suspect this might be the case with Triplett... but I don't feel so strongly about it. But I don't think Simmons already is HYDRA, I believe she could turn HYDRA.
As a scientist she is logical at heart, so I can see her being swayed by the greater good argument. She wouldn't be the first one and certainly won't be the last one.
The issue being that the reveal of Triplett as a HYDRA agent would hold no emotional appeal to the audience. Hes a guest star character. People felt betrayed by Ward because they had started to connect to him.
Triplett being Hydra would not mean betrayal, of course. He is too "new" for that. What it might do is help woo Simmons to Hydra now that she trusts him.
One theory I read is that Simmons works for an unknown force who know what Skye is and her task is to look after Skye - this makes a lot of sense also see her reaction to Skye nearly dying.
I don't like what the screenwriter are doing with Ward. I do think also we would need to see some inner battle within him for his actions in order that we don't lose faith in that Ward can be redeemed or he had affection for the team. Right now I can only see him like a murderer without scruple he is playing with Skye and he won't vacillate to hurt her if necessary. In this way I am losing all sympathy for him and I am starting to wish someone kills him.
Step by step they are approaching the point where Ward won't be interesting for me and I won't think about him.
Proud of my girl Skye for pulling herself together and playing Ward, not sure I could have done the same thing in her situation!
Loved the ending with May and her mother that was fun, I mean when all is said and done and your workplace has been declared a terrorist organisation and your closest friend has disowned you calling your mum is the only thing to do!
I'd be okay with Ward staying bad. His character is a lot more tolerable that way and the actor seems better suited for it. Shades of grey in him could be nice though.
For a Whedon show, it's not that bad really. Just wait till he feels someone needs to die in order to pay a "toll" for some epic battle. That's when it gets all "dude, you just hate us don't you?" LOL.
I think she didn't just "leave" like na irresponsable person, she had a plan that required her leaving and calling Maria Hill. She trusted Ward just as Coulson had. He can't blame her for that.
I go on so many sites I can't remember now, I should have bookmarked it! Another moment to note was when Simmons jumped on the device to save Fitz and Skye in Tracks - showing how far she is willing to go to protect Skye? Or maybe she really is just a good person and friend! I just feel there is something more to her.
I think Simmons is straight up SHIELD right now but we might see her get recruited by someone else. Her answer to the "Why are you here?" question kind of hints that she doesn't have the kind of loyalty to SHIELD that Fitz or Coulson does.
Exactly. It would be yet another painful twist to separate her from Fitz, but very Whedonesque. They are presented as best buds, are inseparable and he realizes he is in love with her than BAM. She is Hydra now and they are fighting against each other while knowing each other's way of thinking and acting.
That's a great theory! I really like the idea of Simmons working for a third party that it's not evil, and her knowing what Skye would add some interesting plot twists, although if there is something like this going on, we won't find out until next season, provided we get one, of course.
I actually find him more interesting now that he's evill, but I think the way he's acting doesn't make any sense. It's not normal for him to not be conflicted in some way, not after everything he's gone through with the team... I really wish they'd show us some of that...
I know, that was so awesome! I would have desolved into hysterics and curled up in a corner. To see her playing him too... I guess he taught her better that he thought, LOL
I think it would be a nice twist for her character and being there to protect Skye is much like May's role with Coulson. Sometimes you have to lie to those you care about.
Am with you it seemed like the two stories mirrored each other. Both are monsters and know they are one is trying to seek his light. While the other ward does not know what he will do yet.
Absolutely bloody amazing. I love dark!HYDRA!Ward, I am so in awe of his acting abilities now, like, really, 11/10, man. It makes me want to keep him dark, and make him head of HYDRA, US division. But now Skye is playing HIM, and I can't wait to see what an interesting way of screwing him over she devises.
We also learn that Tripplet's grandfather was a Howling Commando, and YESSS, more backstory on those precious babies. I hope he's descended from Gabe, because DAMN, SON, those are some good genes.
Then May, suffering with dignity over the break-up with Phil. Leaving the Bus. Ex-husband! MOTHER! So many amazing secrets, Mel's always been my favourite, and now she got 100% more interesting. I wonder about her mother - what agency are we talking about? (CIA? Or are we preparing to dabble in with more comic book agencies? *gasp* SWORD?) And AWW YISS for trying to find Maria, probably the next best-in-the-know person around. Considering Hill is in the next episode, I guess May DOES find her.
Finally, the Cellist. Such a lovely person, such a lovely story. I'm so happy about what they did about her. Coulson's kiss to the forehead, and then Simmons taking his place.
Incidentilly: SHIELD Satellites? Probably toast. A space power (likely US or China ) would have destroyed them as soon as SHIELD was labelled terrorists.
I've been really enjoying the show, and even more so since the Hydra stuff began. I like this Ward, so much more than the bland Agent Ward we've seen up till the Hydra storyline. Bad Ward is so much more interesting. And, I think it not only helps make his character more interesting, but gives the team, as well as the show, richer and more complex storytelling. The villains on the show have been almost forgettable. Giving the villains more story, and complex characters, makes the show better, in my opinion. In fact, if the show is renewed. It may serve to make the show's world more interesting if Garrett and Ward are regulars next season, but are the show's main anatagonists, giving the show much needed decent villains.
Good points! I was pleasantly surprised that Skye was able to keep up the pretense with Ward like that, considering how devastating the betrayal must have been to her.
That scene with May and her mom was great. May's mom seems to be a hoot. "MY agency hasn't fallen apart"...HA!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

Mr. Whedon please stop breaking our hearts. And I really hope ward doesn't plan on taking Skye to Garrett.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness Skye isn't all that stupid...
ReplyDeleteAw... poor Koenig.
aflj;ilhdgduysgal SHE KNOWS!!! This was such an awesome episode!

I'm feeling 100% victimized by this show.
ReplyDeleteSimmons said Tardis and Fitz said Simmons STARS IN MY EYES.
ReplyDeleteSkye really toughened up, playing Ward like that wow
LOL, right there with you. Been almost an hour and I'm still shaking.
ReplyDeleteI think that Ward decided that he wanted to run away with her to keep her away from Garrett.
ReplyDeleteHe did ask Skye where she wanted to go. HE DOES CARE. Can't wait till next week!!!!!!
This is my headcanon and I'm desperately going to hold onto it until week (will be writing a fic tomorrow).
ReplyDeleteIt was amazing. Coulson was just too late with May, I want to know about her mother seems like a very powerful woman to me can't wait.
ReplyDeleteOh boo-freaking-hoo, he had a bad childhood. He's has murderes multiple good guys and I will be pissed off if they try to redeem him because his brother was a meanie and he is sooo in love with Skye. Being in love doesn't forgive murder and she is an idiot if she can forgive that.
ReplyDeleteAnother great episode and only three left in the season! Daaaaamn.
ReplyDeleteI am very pleased with the way they handled the Skye/Ward scenes this week. I was worried but they nailed it.

I'm going to ask your theory to join me in de nile for a nice little cruise, that's how much I like it, LOL
ReplyDeleteHYDRA!Ward is ten times more attractive than SHIELD!Ward. I don't understand how, but I love it.
ReplyDeleteAnd Brett's an awesome actor.
I think Ward will die on S2.
ReplyDeleteI'm beginning to see theories that Fitz will die now, and I can believe it.
ReplyDeleteThis show keeps surprising me so who the hell knows at this point.
It's the bad boy effect.
ReplyDeleteYep! I'm with Cathy on this one, it's the bad boy effect, we know they're not good for us, but we can't help loving them, LOL
ReplyDeleteYes, but it's clear Garrett took him out of an abusive situation and manipulated and abused him some more for his own purposes. He never stood a chance.

I don't know! I was pretty convinced up until tonight that Ward was going to die and now people are suggesting Fitz, and it hurts but I can buy it.
ReplyDeleteGuh, this show is stressing me out.
Why? what did I miss? He's not my favourite character, but we can't have Simmons without him...
ReplyDeleteNooooooooooo not Fitz :(
ReplyDeleteFitz is such a great character and there is so much potential to develop him.

I think he likes the power rush it gives him. His speech to May when she was thought to be the mole was nothing but an ego boost for himself ... he said that the fact May played them all showed him that she was even better than he thought, that she was really really a superb spy, after all, she had managed to play the person she was sleeping with. I think it's because he (most likely) has feelings for Simmons, and they think it'll be a dying confession of love type of situation? I don't really know!
ReplyDeleteI love the twists on this show. On other shows they always go with the predictable twists - but there are always at least a few bits that are totally off-the-wall on AoS. It makes it so much fun :) I also love how they are turning all of the shipping & romance in such strange configurations so that romance REALLY is secondary.
ReplyDeleteI do hope May & Coulson work things out, but the falling out was well done overall.
ReplyDeleteOooooooooohhh. I like it.
ReplyDeleteps.: Did you get what Skye was mumbling when she was on the bathroom floor freaking out?
She may not come back with Maria, Maria was alone with Talbot in the promo I don't may would have allowed that to happen.
ReplyDeleteI hope she is back next week, would love to see them interact more
ReplyDeleteThe best scene poll will be tough today.
ReplyDeleteLOL, don't worry - I'm doing the exact same thing. Unfortunately, it creates unrealistic expectations for the actual episodes and then I'm left going "BUT THIS ISN'T HOW IT'S SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN!"
ReplyDeleteWell, tonight they almost spelled it out for us, LOL, but that's not reason enough to kill him...
ReplyDeleteFor me it is going to be the scene where Audrey is playing to draw in Blackout and Ward is going full psycho in the base. It had me on the edge of my seat.
ReplyDeleteI'm unhappy to even consider it, but maybe that's the reason Ward pushed him to talk to Simmons. Maybe Ward knows Garrett has evil plans for Fitz.
ReplyDeleteI really hope it's not it.
Yeah, but the Skye freaking out then coming out all "normal Skye" and playing Ward and even kissing him was cooooooold and awesome.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of poor Fitz being locked up in some dark hole being forced to develop tech for the bad guys makes me all kinds of sad. So that is clearly what will happen.
ReplyDeleteShe just kept on saying "No, no, no, no" and "He's HYDRA".
ReplyDeleteWhedon has traumatied you, hasn't he? :P
ReplyDeleteDon't lose all hope.
There has been a disturbing trend of Jemma sacrificing herself for the team. That might come up in the finale.
ReplyDeleteTell me about it! I was half expecting Ward to knock Skye up with the sudden influx of baby fics out there, LOL.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, how else does a fan deal in a situation like this? I say bring on those unrealistic expectations! deep down I know he's slipping further and further away from redemption, so I'll take any consolation I can get.
I also loved the joke about Skye's name being Mary Sue. It's always fun when writers poke fun at criticism.
ReplyDeleteThanks!!
ReplyDeleteWell, Garrett was very vocal about how usefull Fitz would be for HYDRA, so I can definitely see them kidnapping him and locking him up to make him work for them. I hope not, he seems so... frail. I'm not sure he would be able to comparmentalize things enough to come out relatively okay on the other end.
ReplyDeleteBTW: What was Skye so desperately looking for in the bathroom?
ReplyDeleteA way to write a message?
Something to use as a weapon to eventually defend herself from Ward?
1st of all Simmons has proven that she is the smartest person on the team "...the TARDIS"
ReplyDeletethe episode was awesome...except I was hoping for a little bit more Ward-Sky action; esp before massive betrayal.
ReplyDeleteStill, I think that after all this months with the team, he should have a better grasp of honest and good human relations, and he should be able to tell the diference between that and his sick, twisted relationship with Garrett. Who, by the way, I really missed in this episode, LOL
I guess we wont find out till next epi. though I think she did something with the skyline pics
ReplyDelete"Still, I think that after all this months with the team, he should have a better grasp of honest and good human relations, and he should be able to tell the diference between that and his sick, twisted relationship with Garrett. Who, by the way, I really missed in this episode, LOL"
ReplyDeleteAgree with every bit.
That would be the most logical assumption. I hope she managed to leave a message for the team to warn them.
ReplyDeleteWould she have the time?
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that she wrote a message and hid in the picture since she was staring at it.
ReplyDeleteOH! I just wanted to point out that the Ward that tried giving Fitz advice about Simmons was the real Ward. He had nothing to gain there and stepped out of his undercover persona to try to help Fitz. So...That was a nice moment before things got horrible again.
ReplyDeleteWas anyone else rather dissapointed with the cellist storyline? I expected more. I really wish Coulson would have talked to her, although their last scene together was quite bittersweet.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was nice, but maybe he knows Garrett has terrible plans for Fitz and instead of avoiding it all he thinks, hmm, let the kid at least try with Simmons before we chain him to a desk and use him as a minion-slave to produce evil machinery.
ReplyDeleteSuddenly I'm addicted to this show more than ever, I still don't like Tripp though.
ReplyDeleteSkye > You
ReplyDeleteYeah, but the ep had so much going on that I believe they handled it well. I would have prefered more of that storyline, but I liked the ep overall.
ReplyDeleteI liked this episode more than the previous 2. The show is realy getting better.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I thought so too. I'm holding onto that tiny silver lining, because it proves that deep, deep down he does care for the team, so maybe there's some hope for him yet,
ReplyDeleteHmmm, colour me intrigued. How would she know that someone is going to look for a hidden message on a bathroom pic?
ReplyDeleteI think so. In one moment she was panicking and then she was relaxed, so at least she had time to think it over and try to look like nothing happened.
ReplyDeleteI see where Coulson is coming from. He can't stay. Why let her know he is alive when they can't be together? He's protecting her the only way he can. It also made him understand why May did what she did to protect him.
ReplyDeleteI don't think we have seen the last of Audrey though.
Yeah, I was really looking forward too it, and it kinda fell short... That's the problema with expectations... I just expected more from the episode that was supposed to introduce the love of Coulson's life...
ReplyDeleteI'm holding on to the hope that Fitz will take all of his gadgets and become Batman.
ReplyDeleteHahahahahah. You made me laugh out loud.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all he needs to learn the husky voice.
According to IMDB, Amy is coming back for the finale.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I get why he did what he did, it was the best thing for her, but as a hopeless romantic, I wanted some sort of reunion...
As a hopeless romantic, this show hasn't exactly been your cup of tea lately :(
ReplyDeleteOh I'm with you there. When he kissed her on the forehead I d'aww-ed and wanted her to see him when she opened her eyes. But all the best love stories are tragedies.
ReplyDeleteWe're all just assuming at this point hahaha.
ReplyDeleteI know, but I can't wait, so I am taking in all ideas I can get ...
ReplyDeleteNope, it definitely hasn't. Although last episode threw me a few bones with Ward being angry at Garrett for giving the order to shoot Skye and Garrett telling him to try and salvage his cover if she mattered that much. What can I say, I'll take what I can...
ReplyDeleteThey really are, aren't they? it's just that I think after everything he's gone through, he deserves some happiness...
ReplyDeleteawesome episode, after Cap. 2 this show is very good.
ReplyDeleteHill is back.
What specific criticism? I just thought it was funny.
ReplyDeleteThe main criticism of Skye from people who didn't like her was that she was a Mary Sue.
ReplyDeleteOoooh. Got it haha, thanks.
ReplyDeleteOk, QUESTION (how very Dwight Schrute): it seems to me that they are making Simmons more morally ambiguous and distanced from Fitz, while they are building Fitz' character as braver and even nicer.
ReplyDeleteClues:
a) Simmons is obsessed with the GH 315 and Hydra now has tons of it to analyse;
b) Simmons is close to Tripplett, whose allegiance we can not be sure of (if he was Hydra, he knew Ag. Hand wasn't Hydra and could fake the whole resistance);
c) Simmons is distancing herself from Fitz;
d) Simmons' lie detector test showed she is not truly commited to the cause.
f) Hydra has the freezing kid, who could be "their" new Fitz to be paired up with Simmons.
Could Simmons go to Hydra while Fitz stays on Shield's side and they not only be separated but arch-enemies who know all from one another?
Ya i realized after I re-watched the episode that it was about going to de-crypt the hard-drive.
ReplyDeleteAlso did you notice how all the conversations that Ward has with May, Fitz and Skye that he was indirectly referring to himself.
With May he said that "when you have your orders you will do it not matter what they price"
With Fitz talking about Simmonds and telling him that Simmonds because you never know when you will have the chance.
ReplyDeleteWell, if history has taught us anything is that he loves breaking our hearts and he'll continue doing it, LOL. But I don't think Ward will take Skye to Garrett because no matter how loyal he is to him, he must know he will torture her and disect her, and I really want to believe that's a line he wont cross. Hopefully, it's not just wishfull thinking.
ReplyDeleteNow, besides the action and awesomeness, there was also a lot of funny moments...
ReplyDelete"The NSA.
ReplyDeleteIm not entirely convinced that there are not HYDRA agents that are not deep cover. One might expose themself as a hydra agent so another will not be suspected.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I suspect this might be the case with Triplett... but I don't feel so strongly about it.
ReplyDeleteBut I don't think Simmons already is HYDRA, I believe she could turn HYDRA.
As a scientist she is logical at heart, so I can see her being swayed by the greater good argument. She wouldn't be the first one and certainly won't be the last one.
ReplyDeleteKoening will be missed, he was a welcomed comic relief amidst all the drama and tension...
ReplyDeleteMAy mom has to be someone powerful and connected....probably work for CIA who else would have tabs on former shield agents
ReplyDeleteI was on twitter right now and this ship already has a name "PhilHarmonic" I'll ship them too, LOL
ReplyDeleteThe issue being that the reveal of Triplett as a HYDRA agent would hold no emotional appeal to the audience. Hes a guest star character. People felt betrayed by Ward because they had started to connect to him.
ReplyDeleteTriplett being Hydra would not mean betrayal, of course. He is too "new" for that. What it might do is help woo Simmons to Hydra now that she trusts him.
ReplyDeleteHe dead.
ReplyDeleteOne theory I read is that Simmons works for an unknown force who know what Skye is and her task is to look after Skye - this makes a lot of sense also see her reaction to Skye nearly dying.
ReplyDeleteAnother theory is she isn't Hydra but AIM.
There's no redemption for Ward. He just murdered Koenig and disrespected the lanyard.
ReplyDeleteI don't like what the screenwriter are doing with Ward.
ReplyDeleteStep by step they are approaching the point where Ward won't be interesting for me and I won't think about him.
I don't see how Ward can be redeemable after killing so many innocent people.
ReplyDeleteOh no its better they didn't have sex that's kind of creepy if they did and he was using her like that.
ReplyDeleteHear hear!
ReplyDeleteSkye was mumbling 'he's Hydra'
ReplyDeleteNice theory! I would love SWORD to be in the show especially as the Marvel cosmic side is getting explored with Guardians
ReplyDeleteProud of my girl Skye for pulling herself together and playing Ward, not sure I could have done the same thing in her situation!
ReplyDeleteLoved the ending with May and her mother that was fun, I mean when all is said and done and your workplace has been declared a terrorist organisation and your closest friend has disowned you calling your mum is the only thing to do!
I'd be okay with Ward staying bad. His character is a lot more tolerable that way and the actor seems better suited for it. Shades of grey in him could be nice though.
ReplyDeleteHe said something about the decryption needing to be done at a certain location that only she knows, so that's why he asked her where to go.
ReplyDeleteFor a Whedon show, it's not that bad really. Just wait till he feels someone needs to die in order to pay a "toll" for some epic battle. That's when it gets all "dude, you just hate us don't you?" LOL.
ReplyDeleteI think Coulson may end up being more pissed at her now since she left and blame her for Skye getting jacked and the lanyard guy dying.
ReplyDeleteI think she didn't just "leave" like na irresponsable person, she had a plan that required her leaving and calling Maria Hill.
ReplyDeleteShe trusted Ward just as Coulson had. He can't blame her for that.
That actually sounds like a neat idea! Do you have the link to where you read it?
ReplyDeleteI go on so many sites I can't remember now, I should have bookmarked it! Another moment to note was when Simmons jumped on the device to save Fitz and Skye in Tracks - showing how far she is willing to go to protect Skye? Or maybe she really is just a good person and friend! I just feel there is something more to her.
ReplyDeleteSherobably put her lanyard in the picture so they can track it to the message.
ReplyDeleteooooooh, smart.
ReplyDeleteI think Simmons is straight up SHIELD right now but we might see her get recruited by someone else. Her answer to the "Why are you here?" question kind of hints that she doesn't have the kind of loyalty to SHIELD that Fitz or Coulson does.
ReplyDeleteExactly.
ReplyDeleteIt would be yet another painful twist to separate her from Fitz, but very Whedonesque.
ReplyDeleteI actually find him more interesting now that he's evill, but I think the way he's acting doesn't make any sense. It's not normal for him to not be conflicted in some way, not after everything he's gone through with the team... I really wish they'd show us some of that...
ReplyDeleteI know, that was so awesome! I would have desolved into hysterics and curled up in a corner. To see her playing him too... I guess he taught her better that he thought, LOL
ReplyDeleteYep! that's while I'll miss him ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is why I love Reading you comments! you always notice things that slip right pass me, lol
ReplyDeleteOr Fitz is Hydra, and has been playing them all, and he is getting upset that his pet is leaving him...
ReplyDeleteReally I would have been sobbing 'please don't kill me Ward!!' but yeah he taught her well!
ReplyDeleteHope we see May's mum again she was so fun in the short scene.
I think it would be a nice twist for her character and being there to protect Skye is much like May's role with Coulson. Sometimes you have to lie to those you care about.
ReplyDeleteI swear, Whedon and Co. are trying to kill us. Granted, this is all pretty much par for the course for them, but geez.
ReplyDeleteOn a side note, I loved Simmons' answer to the box question. I was wondering when she or Fitz was going to make a Doctor Who reference.
Well hopefully not. I believed him when he told her what he wanted. When he said he wanted to stay there with her.
ReplyDeleteAm with you it seemed like the two stories mirrored each other. Both are monsters and know they are one is trying to seek his light. While the other ward does not know what he will do yet.
ReplyDeleteI bloody loved it because it was completely amazing!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely bloody amazing.
ReplyDeleteWe also learn that Tripplet's grandfather was a Howling Commando, and YESSS, more backstory on those precious babies.
That's terribly sweet of you! Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteI hope they keep Ward evil, he's become way more interesting that way.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha.
ReplyDeleteIncidentilly: SHIELD Satellites? Probably toast. A space power (likely US or China ) would have destroyed them as soon as SHIELD was labelled terrorists.
ReplyDeleteI've been really enjoying the show, and even more so since the Hydra stuff began.
ReplyDeleteGood points! I was pleasantly surprised that Skye was able to keep up the pretense with Ward like that, considering how devastating the betrayal must have been to her.
ReplyDeleteThat scene with May and her mom was great. May's mom seems to be a hoot. "MY agency hasn't fallen apart"...HA!
