Well that was one of my more disliked episodes of the series. Still more enjoyable than most comedies on TV, but felt off, plus I don't like the sudden "Jeff's older than he said he's been" thing. Maybe if I actually watched GI Joe I would've appreciated it more, but it just wasn't my cup of tea unfortunately.
I have a hunch this is going to be one of those "Love it or hate it" episodes, but it really worked for me. It's true I spent a good half the episode wondering what the heck was actually going on, but even then I was really enjoying it! They poked fun at this style of cartoon brilliantly, and really took me back. From Community, of course, I expected nothing less. Then it slowly became clear "where" we were and why, and everything really came together. The "real" story was actually surprisingly touching. (But again, this IS Community, so... Maybe not so surprising after all!)

only Community would think to do a whole GI Joe episode lol. I totally forgot it was going to be entirely animated, so when it started, I was totally lost, but I enjoyed it
I am disappointed. This season started strong but lost its golden thread. Do they even study anymore? All they seem to do is role plays, weird school dances and stuff. This animated episode in particular was pointless.
Good throwback to the old GIJoe cartoon, I enjoyed that aspect of it. Jeff being older is odd though, and doesn't fit with some of his previous history. And the bits of Jeff/Annie seem cruel or mocking given what spoilers have for next week.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

Yes I watched it again and loved it even more the second time. The jokes and bits they do just go by too fast for me to catch them all.
ReplyDeleteThat was one of the best episodes of the season.. I really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteThat was weird. Not one of my favorite episodes.

ReplyDeleteI didn't like it at all, I could hardly get through the episode. Really pointless.

ReplyDeleteI don't get how you think it was pointless. Maybe after you see the finale it's purpose will be clearer.
ReplyDeleteIt was just not my type of episode. I never liked the animated Community episodes very much.
