This is not encouraging news for bubble drama Almost Human whose renewal chances had dimmed recently — all three Fox drama pilots are very strong contenders for spots on the schedule. That includes Batman prequel Gotham, which just hired John Stephens as executive producer; hip-hop themed Empire, which I hear has impressed advertisers and has been getting high marks for its music; and coming-of-age hospital drama Red Band Society starring Octavia Spencer, which has been a creative darling, with writers vying to staff on it. With two dramas, Backstrom and Hieroglyph, already picked up straight to series and four, Bones, Sleepy Hollow, The Following and Glee, renewed, the network’s drama dance card for next season seems very full.

So, looks like Glee is probably going to get in the way of Almost Human's renewal. That is just ridiculous
ReplyDeleteSuch a shame.Fox executives have gone mad!!
ReplyDeleteDeadline can't do the math! it doesn't take into consideration that Fox has ordered short seasons (13 episodes) for Hieroglyph, Backstrom, Sleepy Hollow, The Following and Almost Human. Glee's 5th season was already cut short, and it's unlikely Ryan Murphy will go for a full 22 episode season next year now that there's no endgame with his star missing.
ReplyDeleteNobody can say anything about the FOX schedule without knowing how many reality hours they will have in the fall, it's impossible.
ReplyDeleteGlee is apparently getting 24 episodes next season according to Ryan Murphy's comments earlier this month.
ReplyDeleteI was at the taping for Buzzy's for TBS and it's funny. I hope they decide to pick it up. It seems like a natural fit for them.
ReplyDeleteYeah, makes sense, since the order was cut back by 2 eps, those 2 go to season 6!
ReplyDeleteI have seen on other sources that Almost Human's renewal is apparently "a sure thing" after scheduling a repeat a few days after the Upfront Presentation. However not sure how much I trust this source as they also claim Beauty and the Beast will appear on next season's schedule!
ReplyDeleteYeah. The way Ryan made it sound, it sounds like Fox ordered 44 episodes and put it in writing. So now Fox is stuck with it and can't back out.
ReplyDeleteI've seen multiple sources saying that FOX is leaning towards Almost Human's renewal. The whole thing about B&TB though I don't buy
ReplyDeleteGlee should air on the summer
ReplyDeletethat source sometimes makes mistakes so i wouldn't trust them 100%
ReplyDeleteand they change their predictions so fast last week they said dads was dead this week they said likely to be renewed
Yep, it will all come down to how FOX decides to schedule Wednesdays and Thursdays
ReplyDeleteHieroglyph and Backstrom could get back orders if they do well enough.
ReplyDeleteDeadline seems pretty dense, if FOX saw fit to give Gotham a website along with Backstrom, WP and Hieroglyph it seems like they fully intend to honor their series commitment, and most of these are intended for limited runs so FOX could make room for all their new shows and Glee and AH if they wanted, since AH would most likely get a 13 episode order.
ReplyDeleteStill no word on ABC's Forever pilot. Damn.
ReplyDelete@CrimTV--what source are you talking about?
ReplyDeleteIf they have to hiatus Almost Human to showcase these other shows then I can go with that. But I am just not interested in their drama line up, especially Backstorm and 24.
ReplyDeleteI was really hoping Forever made it to series too. No site is taking it into account... I'm hoping for a last minute surprise...
ReplyDeleteI don't know if it's the site CrimTV means but TV-Wise (http://www.tvwise.co.uk/2014/04/broadcast-tv-buzz-community-almost-human-the-menatlist-more/) seems to think both Almost Human and BaTB are sure things.
ReplyDeleteI heard from axn head that batb is on for another season .axn is the netw which airs in india
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've read about the new 24, for now it's just a series this summer. It's not a sure thing to contiune on past the 12 episodes they've ordered. everything has made it sound like it's just a limited series.
