Flash Gordon could be rocketing back to the big screen.
Twentieth Century Fox has closed a deal to pick up the screen rights to the pulp comic-strip hero in a package that has John Davis producing and J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, the up-and-coming scribes who just worked on Star Trek 3, on board to write the script.
To be quite honest I don't think any remake could replace the glorious 1980s film in my heart. The campness, the music, GORDON'S ALIVE??!
ReplyDeletedoesen't sound like a good idea.
ReplyDeleteRemember that canadian Flash Gordon show made in 2008 ?.....Exactly
FLASH! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH
ReplyDeleteHe'll save every one of us!! Seriously that soundtrack was great.
ReplyDeleteThe perfection of 1980s movie cannot be repeated or replicated in any way. Flash Gordan was brought to life in a majestic way. The soundtrack which was composed, performed and produced by Queen was incredible. In the light of all of that, remake sounds like the most horrible idea ever.
ReplyDeletePeople should not mess with cult perfection.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even saw the movie, and I know the song!
ReplyDeleteAnd I was born in the last year of the eighty's!
Flashhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Oh oh ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!
I don't want to see Flash Gordon in the movie screen. Move on fox!
The campiness is what made the 80s movie so perfect, when you remove the full on kitsch of comic it loses its appeal I think. Look at the SyFy series that lasted for a season or two. Mediocre when at its best, but often just terrible.
ReplyDeleteThat said, if they do go forward I nominate Ryan McPartlin (Awesome from Chuck) as Flash! XD
Oh. my. goodness. This is genious.
ReplyDeleteCaptain Awesome as Flash Gordon....
I am against the series, but if done, he would be PERFECT. PERFECT.
