Michael C. Hall to play Susan B. Anthony in HBO miniseries

Michael C. Hall is coming back to TV. The Dexter star is currently working out a deal to play famed feminist and social reformer Susan B. Anthony in an eight-part HBO miniseries tentatively called SBA: Diary of an Important Woman.

The former Six Feet Under alum is excited to get back on TV with another colorful character. "I played a gay funeral home owner, I played a straight serial killer, and now I'm playing a girl. This is fun!"

Michael C. Hall is aware that this might be viewed as an odd casting choice by some inevitable detractors. "They will think I can't play the part of Susan B. Anthony just because of my gender. I know I will being discriminated on because I'm a man. And isn't that what Susan has been fighting against her whole life?"

Hall knows some people will have difficulty seeing him as the leader of the women's suffrage movement. "Much like when I accepted the role of Dexter Morgan after being David Fisher on Six Feet Under, many people couldn't see me portray a character that was the exact opposite of what I'd been playing for 5 years. I think I proved them wrong, and I think I will impress them with my rendition of Susan B. Anthony. I have already started to practice speaking like a woman, I try to complain more, and I spend more time in the kitchen and the bathroom."

This will be Michael C. Hall's first role on TV since the universally acclaimed ending of Dexter last fall. "I remember having chills when I read the script of the finale", he quips. "It just felt like the natural ending Dexter needed. I think we ended the show at the right time, we didn't want to overstay our welcome for at least four seasons. Seeing Dexter lying on the floor of his killroom in a pool of blood, his trophies shattered on the floor, as the police was closing in on him is an iconic ending that I think will live on as one of the greatest moments in TV history".

Nothing has leaked about the Susan B. Anthony script written by Work It creator Ted Cohen and Two and a Half Men's Chuck Lorre, but we've learned that this is a modern take on the life of the American suffragist, as the action will take place nowadays in Argentina. "It's just easier for us. Michael has a buckload of Dexter money, he just bought this huge house in Buenos Aires and wants to film there, so we agreed. This is what's called artistic freedom", said HBO programming president Michael Lombardo, who is "beyond elate" to be working again with Hall, nine years after the end of Six Feet Under.

Casting for supporting roles is currently underway, but we hear rumors that Megan Fox and Chase Crawford have been reading for the part of Elizabeth Cady Stanton, while Willow Smith is rumored to be the frontrunner to play the young Carrie Chapman Catt.

Filming will start next month with Larry Charles at the helm of all eight episodes. SBA is expected to start airing in 2015 on March 8, also known as International Women's Day.
