First of all if you have not watched the final episodes of Teen Wolf’s third season and don’t want to know spoilers you probably shouldn’t read this interview, but if you’re okay with that by all means continue reading…
Crystal Reed joined the number of supa-star guests who attended Supanova Pop Culture event in Melbourne on the 12th and 13th of April.
Crystal got the chance to share with her audience the reason her character died in the show, how her experience was and other little bits and pieces about herself.
One of the first questions she answered was if she, as herself, was put into the town of Beacon Hills with all the supernatural creatures causing chaos what would she do? Crystal replied with a story of her being on her flight to Melbourne and as they were lifting off a little girl started yelling, “Let me out, let me out”, that would be Crystal reaction to being in Beacon Hills.
For those wanting an answer as to why her character had to die the answer is a sad but simple one. Crystal loved playing Allison; however, she wanted a change, to experience new characters to play.
“You know, I’m 29 and I wanted to play something other than a 17 year old. I actually went to Jeff Davis and told him this and he was fine with it. I also wanted a solid and significant beginning, middle and end for Allison, so that meant dying”.
As many fans were torn up watching Allison die, so was Crystal. She told fans that she cried watching the death scene because she felt she had watched apart of herself die and hasn’t actually watched the final episode because it was too hard for her.
Crystal also said that an actress she would love the opportunity to work with, because her acting is magnificent and flawless, is Meryl Streep. Also given the choice of choosing any role from any TV show or movie she would like to play the role of Princess Leia.
Sometimes being in the spotlight people forget those in the darkness, but Crystal mentioned one of the main reasons she does what she does is to inspire people to follow their dreams and to make people laugh and be happy with themselves.
Crystal spoke about the life on set and how Holland (Lydia) was always the to be picked on when playing a prank, “I can’t remember which of the guy who did it, but it was a prank on Holland, they put a doll with make-up and all in her trailer, she screamed for ages”.
For all you Stydia shippers out there, Crystal agrees with you and she thinks they should get together already and doesn’t know what they are waiting for.
Crystal mentioned her favourite and less favourite scene to film, with the bath tub scene, in the mid-episodes of season three, as her less because it was freezing and she had to keep retaking the shot.
Her favourite scene throughout all the seasons of teen wolf is an episode in season two, “There’s this one really great scene that I had with Tyler; it was during season 2, I can’t remember the exact episode and for you guys it was probably a forgettable, tiny scene but it was a conversation between Scott and Allison that, to me, really showed their relationship,” she said.
Throughout the seasons of Teen Wolf we see the transformation between Allison the new girl in school and to the woman that is a hunter and sacrifices herself for the people she loves. Crystal spoke a little bit of the training she had to go through with the bow and arrow, however, she says that she would never actually go hunting to kill birds because she is a vegan and birds are really cute.
Crystal also mentioned one time on set she may have accidently released her arrow into one of the crew men, which was one of the most embarrassing times on set for her and the crew had to slowing trust her to do her own stunts again.
Crystal spoke briefly about her upcoming film that she’s working on, “Too Late”; she plays a completely different role where her character is a stripper. It was also mentioned in her panel that she will be back in Melbourne for an event in August, possibly the Creatures of the Night event, which is yet to be confirmed.
