God, I cannot WAIT to see the looks of betrayal when the Team finds out he was working for the enemy the whole time. Also yayyy Eric Koenig! Patton should be good this episode.
If there is any justice in the world, May's reaction would be to deliver a swift, solid punch to his gut. It's only fair after the way he talked down to her.
If Ward were Hydra, he would have showed what side he was on tonight. I think (hope) this validates the theory that Ward is going undercover and pretending to be hydra. Either way, the rest of the season will be on my can't-miss-tv list!
No, no, no. After that final scene with Garrett and the expression on his face, I'm almost positive that they did to him the same think they did to Bucky in the movie after his first encounter with Steve. I honestly believe that, and I'm sticking to it. De Nial is also a magical place ;-)
I definitely think Ward is going undercover here. I don't think the bullets he used to shoot the other people on the plane were real. I think he faked killing them to make it look like he is on the bad guy's side. Before Ward got on the plane, he and Coulson shared a mysterious look. I think this is part of a bigger plan.
Except that doesn't explain why he would murder Victoria Hand. He wouldn't want to blow his cover if he were a double agent, but killing one of the only high ranking SHIELD agents left in the world is going way too far. He can't come back from that.
If he was it would be sad, but bullsy. I want to see writers take that sort of risk if they can make it work. Also, as it's a Joss Whedon show, no one is truely safe (He killed off Tara on BtVS just as she got back with Willow...)
If they actually go there they have my utmost respect. I know some never liked Ward but he has grown on me and I really like Brett Dalton who he so funny on Twitter and in interviews but getting to see him play evil would be great. Of course evil is probably not the right word, the MCU isn't simply good vs bad, look at Black Widow she was on the bad side at one point and has changed.
I also think that Ward is under cover, but I do belive he murderd the others. I think Coulson asked Ward to sacrifice everything to go really deep under cover. But the writers and actors made a good job, cause a tiny little voice in my head asks if I am sure..... in any case his feelings for Sky are true, since he was under Loreleys spell.
I'm conflicted, on the one hand I think making Ward a bad guy for real would be very gutsy on the show's part and shake things up, but on the other hand the team dynamic is what drew me into AoS in the first place, so having him turn on his friends, go to prison/die and be replaced by Tripplet wouldn't really work for me. Also, I'm one of the 10 people that have actually always liked Ward so unlike others I don't think this was necessary to make him interesting, even though it does.
Not to be a dick, but I have to say, I would love it if it turned out that the writers were just jerking the shippers around all of this time, and Skyward was nothing more than a ploy on Ward's part (for example, it provides him with an excuse for why he shot Nash, as people have pointed out). What can I say? Considering how much dreck I've had to put up with on my favorite shows because of the writers pandering to shippers, I crave a little payback. LOL.
I really hope Victoria Hand somehow survives that (though I don't see how, unless it was a fake-out). She's a great character, and it seems a shame to waste her for a plot twist.
I'm predicting that what they have given Ward is a classic MMPR "Evil Green Ranger" storyline. Starts off as a nice guy, befriends the leader (Coulson) and falls for the pink Ranger girl (Skye) but is under an evil spell (HYDRA) and tries to destroy the Rangers (his team) and take out the leader (Coulson) - but then is later broken out of the spell (HYDRA's brainwashing) and he will spend alot of the next year in a redemption arc, feeling guilty and horrible about his actions of when he was evil.
If you're wondering who I chose for each traditional Power Ranger colour...
Coulson - Red Ranger Skye - Pink Ranger Simmons - Yellow Ranger Fitz - Blue Ranger May - Black Ranger Ward - Green Ranger
Still not buying the whole evil Ward story. I think its the old tired story trop of faking it to gain info. I think he is a triple agent and that it will turn out Hand isn't dead. Boring. I hope I am wrong I would like to see them playing it straight and that he is HYDRA. Also not convinced that Garrett's partner is on the good side either. Could be a case of 2 double agents and 1 tripple agent.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Oh God, I need this episode in my life immediately.
ReplyDeleteMe too!!!!!
ReplyDeletedoes the previous episode link to this one and why they are on the run
ReplyDeleteMy friend dismissed me when I told her that the woman Ward really desired could be Raina and I thought that was a strech, but now I am buying it.
ReplyDeleteNo Ward! You're making it really hard for me justify your actions! Why!?!? :curls up in a corner and cries:
ReplyDeleteIs it Tuesday yet(again)!? I love that they're showing both eps next week but I hope no one tunes out thinking they're just showing a re-run.
ReplyDeleteGod, I cannot WAIT to see the looks of betrayal when the Team finds out he was working for the enemy the whole time. Also yayyy Eric Koenig! Patton should be good this episode.
ReplyDeleteI sooooo want to see Skye's reaction. She was sooooo played;
ReplyDeleteMay's take on that will also be priceless.
Maybe we'll finally get that Raina story. Why brainwash her? Who is she?
ReplyDelete...Maybe she was someone important to Ward and Garret used her to recruit him? Man, I haven't come up with so many crazy theories since Fringe ended.
Ooooh, nice.
ReplyDeleteFringe does that to a person :)
If there is any justice in the world, May's reaction would be to deliver a swift, solid punch to his gut. It's only fair after the way he talked down to her.
ReplyDeletepoor coulson half his team consider a traitor/mole....skye then may now ward....don't see how they can be a team again anytime soon
ReplyDeleteHail Hydra!
ReplyDeleteWards actions need no justification. He is Hydra :)
They want the same thing Shield want. Order, Stability, the ability to weed out enemies.
Suddenly, Ward got way more interesting. I liked this twist.
ReplyDeleteIf Ward were Hydra, he would have showed what side he was on tonight. I think (hope) this validates the theory that Ward is going undercover and pretending to be hydra. Either way, the rest of the season will be on my can't-miss-tv list!

ReplyDeleteUnless he shot her with an icer. I'm guessing even a head shot from one wouldn't be fatal since May fired at Fitz's head with one.
ReplyDeleteThere was blood when the camera focused in on Hand's body.
ReplyDeleteI kind of want Ward to be properly evil, imagine the impact it would have on the team especially May and Skye?
ReplyDeleteYep, but her hand was moving!!!
ReplyDeleteIf he was it would be sad, but bullsy. I want to see writers take that sort of risk if they can make it work.

ReplyDeleteI watched that scene again and I didn't see it moving. Are you sure that's not just wishful thinking on your part?
ReplyDeleteI also think that Ward is under cover, but I do belive he murderd the others. I think Coulson asked Ward to sacrifice everything to go really deep under cover.

At this time, maybe :)
ReplyDeleteThe interviews made it very clear that Ward is indeed Hydra.
ReplyDeleteLorelei never mentioned Skye, she said another woman. I believe it is Raina.
ReplyDeleteIf being evil means Ward is going to keep sporting that stubble, I think I can manage. Woof.
ReplyDeleteYeah I saw that a couple hours ago :/
