Devious Maids - Episode 2.01 - Review

Lifetime's summer soap is back in full force complete with sexy new additions, a new season mystery and the return of our favorite group of DEVIOUS MAIDS.

Picking up three months after last season's finale, we find our group of maids -- Marisol (Ana Ortiz), Carmen (Roselyn Sanchez) and Zoila (Judy Reyes) arriving in a courtroom to witness the release of their friend Rosie (Dania Ramirez), who has been held in detention following Peri Westmore (Mariana Klaveno) turning her in to the authorities. Carmen is caught between her previous life as a maid and her lavender marriage to Alejandro (Matt Cedeno), Zoila continues to live in regret for driving her daughter Valentina (Edy Ganem) away, and Marisol finds herself tangled up in a new mystery at her new residence.

In addition to the familiar faces, there are several new additions joining the cast this season. Among them are: Tony (Dominic Adams) the new security guard that Evelyn (Rebecca Wisocky) and Adrian Powell (Tom Irwin) hire after a robbery at their home; New maid Opal (Joanna Adler) and her son Ethan (Colin Woodell), who works as a pool boy and may be a potential new love interest for Valentina, whose relationship with Remi (Drew Van Acker) has hit a road block in the premiere; and Nicholas Deering (Mark Deklin) who is Opal's employer and Marisol's new fiancee harboring a dark secret that ties in with the season's mystery.

The premiere features the familiar mix of comedy and drama fans of the show experienced in its freshmen season, as the first hour sets up plenty of new storylines for the coming episodes. It's a solid start to a new season, and it's good to have our favorite maids back in business. Let the dirty laundry unravel...

DEVIOUS MAIDS returns Sunday, April 20th @ 9/8c on Lifetime.

  3. Question: is Marisol still connected in any way with the Stappords?

  4. Question: Is Rosie still rocking her trademark braid? They all look so different in the promo, i'm kinda worried they ditched that part about her.

  5. I'm not sure in what capacity they will appear but the Stappords aren't regulars on the show anymore, so I wouldn't expect to see much of them.
