Re: Arrow - I'll just repeat what I posted in the postmortem compilation article: I really don't know what to think of this baby (now elementary school kid) nonsense. I don't see the point besides giving Oliver something else to agonize over or giving someone else leverage over him. I usually give the Arrow EPs the benefit of the doubt on most everything but right now, to me, this just seems like an added plot device and some unnecessary melodrama.
First and foremost I think the idea was to show how far Moira will go to help her children as well as how ruthless she CAN be (like that investigative report as a veiled threat) even if she chooses kindness over brutality. It was mainly a character moment for Moira as she could have had the baby (and mother) killed but instead bought the mother off while providing for the baby, all while protecting Oliver.
Going forward, I can only see Oliver's child as leverage for an enemy of his. Still, I doubt this is a major plot-point.
TVD: I keep reading about Caroline having a crush on someone she shouldn't, but somehow I get the feeling that the crush is on Enzo, not Stefan. Caroline making a play for Enzo, if he's still alive in Season 6, might create problems after tonight's episode.
I just want Caroline to be single and have some nice character development. I don't want her to hook-up with anyone else in the main cast. If they have to get her a love-interest why can't they find someone new (bring in another Jesse)? Stefan & Jeremy are the only two male characters in the main cast she hasn't slept with.
Why are these spoilers all about ships? Stefan/Caroline on TV,. Emma/Hook, Regina/Robin, Rumple/Belle for OUAT. How about real spoilers about the actual plot of the shows?
"I just want Caroline to be single and have some nice character development." I've been beating that drum for awhile myself. Wanting an unattached Caroline to get a serious storyline that doesn't involve a guy or a relationship has been at the top of my TVD wishlist for some time.
I don't agree on the Jesse part though. All of Caroline's love interests have been troubled, doomed, or obvious cannon fodder. For anyone keeping score at home, Jesse was definitely cannon fodder. TVD is closer to the end than the beginning so if they're going to give Caroline another love interest it had better be one that can potentially go the distance.
I wish they could have still added some plot spoilers with it, there are more than a few people not hungry for 'ships' puts you off the coming episodes 😞
Because, as Pablo smartly surmised, I can only answer the questions I actually get. Plus, I made sure to include all the plot stuff in our May Sweeps Extravaganza http://tvline.com/2014/04/23/may-season-finale-spoilers-2014-sweeps-photos-bones/
Snarky answer would be that most of the times, the plot of these shows is about love and love triangles. But as Matt explains below - they're answering questions that they receive.
I think they are afraid to write too much outside the comics to be honest and that sucks.
I 've never been a comic fan myself (although I do have great repect for comic geeks) so I didn't know the Green Arrow has a kid but it didn't surprise me either considering how little I think of Oliver Queen. He is the main character and I have the most issues with him.
But seriously, the melodrama ...they just keep writing stuff in that no one agrees with because "the audience needs it" and they want us to believe that statement. Not just the child, other parts like the whole relationship with Sara for instance.First it came out of nowhere, but it was supposed to be good for Oliver, then they broke up and now what? What did that relationship offer to my character? As a viewer I'm supposed to follow him emotionally, right(him being the protagonist)? So why was Sara in his life for 7-8 episodes?Did he evolve emotionally as a person? Did he grow? Will he sink because of her leaving? Will the break up make him move forward (like Moira's death-RIP Gorgeous Woman) ? Because to me it was just crap to fill in episodes along with the Lance melodrama and that's not good writing...
It's just to me Oliver has come back for 2 years and he is still Ollie. And you give him a kid? Seriously like is he even ready?
Arrow was on a roll for the first 10 episodes (back to back they were great) and then they filled us with so much drama. I say, if you don't know how to write family/lovestory progression, hire someone who can and stick to action stuff (which IS awesome truthfully!)
It can't be Enzo unless he gets brought back to life somehow. It's shame, I liked his scenes with Caroline. I'm not looking forward to any Stefan/Caroline hook ups because I don't think he'll ever get over Elena and Caroline wanting Stefan is probably the push Elena needs to finally get over Damon and go after Stefan as well and that's just pathetic for Elena and both Caroline and Stefan deserve better. Besides, Stefan said himself that he believed you could be friends with someone OR be in love with them and he's always just been friends with Caroline.
Well we know the baby mama is rich. 2 million dollars to raise a kid is a lot of money. The kid is what something like 7-9 years old. Perhaps she is gonna date the Flash lol. One day when Oliver is visiting Flash he will see the girl and perhaps her child and put two and two together. Perhaps it is good thing that Moira did it. Meaning Oliver would be a better father. And I imagine the baby mama won't be mad at Oliver as it wasn't his fault about not being around for the baby. Maybe the baby mama is married to some other guy and she wants to keep the baby's real dad a secret and perhaps she put her another man's name on the birth certificate. They could do a Thea/Malcom storyline. What do you think?
The show has made some missteps in writing the personal lives of these characters but they've also done some good things with the personal lives of these characters over the course of two seasons as well. So, I'm not willing to go as far as saying they can't do family or love stuff. They just have to do a better job in the future.
the baby momma will still be pissed at Oliver cause she is going to believe that he led her mom to do what she did and she will hate his guts, of course she hasnt told anyone who the real father is and i believe she has no intentions to, it's been what? a year and a half since Oliver return and noone has came yet to show him a kid or at least talk something of him.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

If they already have intentions of paying this off at a later date, this was just as much about Oliver going forward as it is about Moira now.

ReplyDeleteNah. Caroline crushing on Enzo is not going to result in a "potential rift between her and one of her friends."

ReplyDeleteGreat news about POI, Amy Acker confirm the finale will be big and messy.

ReplyDeleteWell, it was because the questions TV Line got were all shipping questions this time around
ReplyDeleteI have the same complaint, there are plenty of things that would be better for them to focus on

ReplyDeleteYou're everywhere, aren't you?
ReplyDeleteYeah, but there have been plenty spoilers on the plot side lately, so maybe this is just to even things out
ReplyDeleteWhat? Matt is here? That's a pleasant surprise. :)
