It's all about Teen Grimm for me this week. It was tough choosing between her punching the snot out of Nick when he was trying to arrest her and the scene at Aunt Marie's trailer. In the end, I choose the trailer because it was great seeing Nick make the transition to mentor. His character needed something to change things up.
She's definitely an interesting game changer. I really hope the writers see her as a potential long term ally or even a possible cast addition. The actress was pretty good and the character adds a lot of potential.
I think she is just what the show needed. Juliette was becoming useless except for her Google skills. Nick was wavering between boring and irksome in the last few episodes. Having her live with them opens up the storyline for at least a little while. I think Nick is well suited as a mentor too.
I'd say Juliette was useless last season and started regain some of her usefulness this season. However if Nick and Juliette's relationship ends, which kinda seems inevitable, then Nick needs something else to tie him to Portland. Having him train/protect Trubel would have many and great potential story lines. It would be a less cheesy Batman/Robin story.
Ha! I bow to your superior wisdom. She did use her handy vet skills from that job she never goes to anymore on those 2 cases earlier.
I agree that they had to make Nick either more kick butt or keep a kick butt warrior available. I think they were shooting for the prior when they went down the ZombieNick road. But then they dropped that storyline like a hot potato. I personally wish they would make Mama Grimm a recurring, 8+ episodes a year, character. However, as much as I love her, she could get obnoxious quickly if they weren't careful. This is a far better plan because it puts Nick in a leadership role and still should increase the action, which is something Grimm really needs.
I generally find Juliette useless most of the time, but yes, it doesn't get more useless than coma. I actually think that unless Bitsie Tulloch wants off the show, Nick and Juliette's relationship will stay intact. I think this is more to give Nick the leadership role he should have in the show. It also allows us to see another side of Nick, which should refresh Grimm.
I also believe they'll remain together. I just wish they had given her some other "more useful for Grimness" job. I don't know, german literature professor, karate teacher, computer expert/hacker, historian, I don't know... just something useful.
'Teen Grimm' Truble was indeed a big breath of fresh air. Barring Nick's mom & Wu, everybody else is bordering on 'boring'. My suggestions to make Season 4 of Grimm as exciting as Season 1: - Make Nick's mom & Truble full time cast members. - Kill off Juliette to heighten the stakes but mainly to reduce the 'boring scenes'. Don't make her breakup with Nick because they complement each other, but as this is a show about supernatural creatures & not family dynamics it doesn't need her. - Bring back the "key" and the storyline about the powerful families battling to reach whatever secret it is hiding. This storyline has not progressed at all since Nick & Renard came to an agreement after Renard returns the key. While the Royal baby may play an important part in this storyline, he is still a baby & unless they can grow abnormally fast he won't come into relevance for at least the next 5 years. This means the writers have wasted this season by dedicating so much time to the baby (they could have wrapped it up in 2-3 episodes).
I believe the baby will grow abnormally fast because Adalind gave birth after 6 months and the baby was born "normal" nor premature-looking. It also opened it's eyes pretty quickly. They can Always have a time jump of 2 years and the kid shows up looking 10 y.o. and being all ninja-magic-sorceress.
Give it 2 years and she'll be surprised to learn she's Wesen herself. You know, the late blooming Wesen called Plotvolk Devicaedus. It loosely translates to People who Kill the Plot.
Ninja sword fight? Did someone say sword fight? And Viktor may be beheaded? Count me in for the best Grimm scene ever. Viktor must get the upperhand for a short while so he can monologue himself to an early death as well. It's in the cliched villain handbook.
Yes, yes, and yes. Nick's mom needs to be in at least the majority of episodes next season. She is by far the most exciting character and she sets things in motion. I would love to see her be part of Teen Grimm's training since I'm not Nick can teach her anything in the fighting department. She already feels superior in that. As for Juliette, they either need to tie her actually in the story or cut the number of episodes she's in. Right now it feels like they shoehorn in scenes for the mere purpose of having her on screen. They are almost always filler. I'm okay if they kill her off but I don't want need another vengeance storyline.
I wholeheartedly agree about the key. The show should be working towards a climax of its mthyology and instead it has been shuffled off to the Cave of Dropped Plot Points. Reinstate the keys and give Renard a bigger role. The man needs to get out of his office more and upping the Resistance vs. Royals stakes would do that. It would be great to get more backstory on each group and finally know exactly what each group is fighting for. I still don't know exactly what the Resistance wants, why it hates the Royals, what they would change, etc. There is mysterious to heighten suspense. Then there is mysterious because we don't have a clue where we are going with this. Right now, Grimm feels like it's in the latter.
I hope the kid becomes a distant memory, but only if Mama Grimm can ditch it with a supernatural babysitter. I hate the idea of losing Mama Grimm for the sake of a plot line that I doubt will work well within the Grimm universe.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteGotta go with "They call me Trouble."
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to see just how much trouble she is in the coming episodes. I hope the Royals don't capture or kill her, thinking she's Mama Grimm.
ReplyDelete"Teen Grimm" makes me chuckle.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I thought it worked slightly better than Grimm Teen.

ReplyDelete"Juliette was becoming useless except for her Google skills." hahahahahahaha.
ReplyDeleteThat is soooo not true, sometimes she gives valuable veterinarian tips :P

Oh, but I'd love to see Viktor try his cliché menacing looks while she says cliché menacing sentences like "They call me trouble". And then some ninja sword fight.
ReplyDelete'Google skills'...giggle!
ReplyDeleteWe don't know yet if it could take away Nick's Grimm powers. I hope it doesn't. Maybe it just makes her stronger or something

ReplyDeleteShe passed the ranks of Google trainer and is now working towards her black belt as internet search master.

ReplyDelete"They call me Trubel!" (Dun dun dun)
ReplyDeleteReally? Three words to describe the addition of this character: Jump. The. Shark.
