Gotham - John Stephens joins as a writer and executive producer

John Stephens has worked on The CW’s Gossip Girl, The WB’s Gilmore Girls and Fox’s The OC. He’s coming on board Gotham as a writer and executive producer. As previously reported, Bruno Heller (Rome, The Mentalist) is the showrunner for the Warner Bros. TV project, which has recently wrapped its pilot and has a “series commitment” from Fox (which means Fox would have to pay a penalty if the show is not ordered to series but there is not yet an actual series order for the show).

  1. Not to say anything bad, but i don't get how he is the best choice. Of the listed non are as fantasy and comic based as this would be. I would watch it, but i don't get him as a choice.

  2. "John Stephens has worked on The CW’s Gossip Girl, The WB’s Gilmore Girls and Fox’s The OC."

None of the shows sound anything like what I expect Gotham to be.

When I saw this article earlier I had the same thought. Now all I can think of is every episode opening with a Bruce Wayne variation of the Gossip Girl opening narration.

"Hey people of Gotham city. Bruce Wayne here. And I have the biggest news ever. One of my many sources, Selina91, sent me this: 'Spotted at Gotham Central, umbrella in hand: Oswald Cobblepot.' Was it only a year ago our rumored mob leader mysteriously disappeared? And just as suddenly, he's back. Don't believe me? See for yourselves. Lucky for us, Selina91 sent proof. Thanks for the photo, Sel."

  4. Because when you think dark gritty Gotham, you think of Gossip GIrl, The OC, and Gilmore Girls.

    I'm not enthused.

  5. So one producer from a CBS procedural and the other from Warner Brothers' teen dramas. Yikes. It's just a matter of time before Ben McKenzie as Detective Gordon punches a criminal and says "Welcome to the G.C. bitch!"
