“X-Men: Days of Future Past” writer-producer Simon Kinberg told Collider that Fox is considering bringing its Marvel universe to the smallscreen. This could include TV shows on X-Men, Fantastic Four, X-Force, Deadpool and New Mutants.
With Marvel already delving into television with ABC’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” which recently aired “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” tie-in episodes, and with Netflix original adaptations of “Daredevil,” “Jessica Jones,” “Iron Fist” and “Luke Cage,” Fox could stand to benefit from a piece of the Marvel TV pie.
Kinberg said it makes perfect sense for Fox to expand its properties into TV considering the similar episodic format of TV shows and comicbooks.

Umm depends on how the show is done, especially with all the specific costumes needed and special effects for X-Men. Also with a lot of comic book adaptations in the cinematic and TV scheme, there might be too much going on. Though I'd be excited for X-Men, since I liked the animated series.
ReplyDeleteIt'll probably be something similar to Mutant X but with actual characters.

I have long dreamed of a decent live action X-Men series. And ironically I always imagined it on FOX sooo this is kind of literally a dream come true if it happens but it would be limited in scope, but I'd definitely give it a chance.
ReplyDeleteThanks, this would be what I would like to see on FOX. And with a really good story this could be awesome!
ReplyDeleteIt'd be amazing but I hope they don't take the same approach as AOS took.
ReplyDeleteI hope this happens. Heroes was able to make a nice superhero show (season 1 at least) on a decent budget and technology has changed since then so it's very possible plus Anna Paquin is already done with true blood so....
ReplyDeleteBut would they be part of a cohesive universe? Unless they recast the X-men or use unknown characters then I doubt it. Sony, Fox and WB all want to have the success of what Marvel Studios have done with the MCU without the actual effort it takes.
ReplyDeleteI think Fantastic Four and X-Men would have potential as tv series, though X-Men might work better as a cartoon (love both the original one and Evolution).
ReplyDeleteI would not mind at all if this X-Men series was a reboot of sorts. In fact I'd prefer it. Creating it's own new mini universe would definitely help me accept the differences from the movies especially considering a typical episode couldn't even look as good as the first movie which was released like, what? A decade ago? Plus they could do new character arts.
ReplyDeleteI think they would be part of a cohesive universe, though I'd rather if they weren't. Theirs been talk/rumors of an X-Force movie in 2018, so they could use it as a backdoor pilot provided the cast are into it.
ReplyDeleteIf they go ahead with any of them though then I see it being New Mutants. Probably based upon volume 2. On the surface it's a teen drama set in the Xavier institute. But it goes deeper then that, showing the struggles the students go through to control their powers. Potentially that could lead to a movie adaption of M-Day with the ramifications felt in New Mutants.
New Mutants sounds like a good idea, a bunch of characters they haven't used yet on the big screen so they can do something interesting with them.
ReplyDeleteI kind of prefer cohesive universes but I can see the benefit definitely and really a reboot/standing on its own is the only way they can do it if they want big known characters in it.
ReplyDeleteSo they can afford to do this ?
ReplyDeleteProbably not, but the more money Fox loses, the higher chance they'll sell Marvel the rights to the franchise back. (Like when Sony sold Marvel the television rights to Spider-Man)
ReplyDeleteI would like to see a Deadpool series!!!
ReplyDeleteI want The Punisher! Yeah i know that Marvel owns him again, and this is a FOX article but... Preferably with Garth Ennis as the showrunner. On Netflix, HBO, Showtime, or AMC.
ReplyDeleteI'd definitely watch anything about the X Men! X Men Evolution used to be one of my favourite cartoons :)
ReplyDeleteThe hot rumor is that Marvel wants to do a Punisher series on Netflix as part of a 'Wave 2'. Eventually leading into Thunderbolts. But it depends on Wave 1 first.
ReplyDeleteThat would be great!
ReplyDeletedepends wether they want this show to air parallel to their cinematic universe. If I remember correctly X-Men: Days of Future Past is like a farewell to the original cast as Singer intends to go forward with the younger cast introduced in X-Men: First Class.
ReplyDeleteIf this is the case I can't see that happen as most of First Class's actors wouldn't do TV (Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy).
Now IF the show was to focus on the 'old' cast I could totally see that work as Anna Paquin, Daniel Cudmore, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, Shawn Ashmore and Halle Berry altogether are also a cast that does TV.
Maybe add newcomers Evan Peters and Bingbing Fan to the mix and we'd have a pretty awesome cast for a new X-Men themed show.
It's also worthy to add that Arrow might get rid of the manison this season (the producers previewed that they'll get rid of a few major sets due to the storyline and the Queen residence is pretty much one that is sure to fall away) so Xaviers Institute for the young and gifted should be free.
I don't see Hugh Jackman do TV though BUT if FOX is smarter than Marvel they'll put a 'advertising' clause in his next contract that obligates him to do two episodes for promotional reasons (Marvel should have done that with Evans, Hemsworth and Ruffallo. Hope they did it with the new cast additions).
I could totally see 'X-Men: Revolution' starring Halle Berry as Storm, Daniel Cudmore as Colossus, Evan Peters as Quicksilver, Shawn Ashmore as Ice Man, Ben Foster as Angel with Anna Paquin as Rogue and Patrick Stewart as Professor X. Special Guest Starring Ian McKellan as Magneto, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine (2 episodes), James Marsden as Cyclops (not like he did too much since that role), Famke Jannssen as Phoenix (ditto) and Liev Schreiber as Sabertooth. They could add Ray Park as Toad, Kelly Hu as Lady Deathstrike and Scott Adkins as a redone version of Deadpool (with the voice of Nolan North of course) as recurring characters.
Hell storylines would almost write themselves ! Alone open plot threats from the already done X movies could serve up almost 44 episodes...gee I'm getting a bit too hyped up for a show that will probably never happen -,-
As for Fantastic Four, no. NOT with this cast. Same goes for Spiderman. As long as Andrew Garfield plays a douchy version of Spiderman I REFUSE to support it (not like it needs my support anyhow)
But whatever...that X-Men show would be gold.
Or you could just make a X-Men show with new X-Men for movies like Alpha Flight, X-Factor or X-Force. Or the best would maybe do a Deadpool-series on FX Networks.
ReplyDeleteYES to a Deadpool series !
ReplyDeleteBut only if Nolan North does the voice, I didn't mind Ryan Reynolds but he's too expensive
sounds awesome !
ReplyDeleteThe Marvel/Netflix deal is a really curious thing to begin with. A 66 episode order is something I never thought I'd see
the claws aren't that hard to do, weather effects aren't much of a task either. The only VFX challenge I'd see would be Angels wings as they should have rigged CG wings that would have to be tracked in each shot he's in. But since Dominion seems to do something similar now that could work as well.
ReplyDeleteActually the FX don't sound like a huge issue to me
True, I just don't want any weird costumes, like I'm not a big fan of the Flash costume, but other than that, I want more superhero shows, it would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteme neither, in fact I dislike the Flash costume. But if they go with the movie inspiration we're good :)
ReplyDeleteFor the love of everything that is good and precious, DO NOT recast all of the current mutants. Please, please, please no. It would be a disaster.
ReplyDeleteFOX still can't get their films right. I certainly don't expect them to do any better with Marvel television.
ReplyDeleteI didn't love Reynolds that much in the role, but he was okay at least. Maybe even better than okay, but i didn't love it. Nolan North has a perfect voice for the character (so fun he even did it the Lego Marvel-game). But i think they could end up casting someone fit for both the voice and look.
ReplyDeleteIf you read the sentence above the x-men movie date it says The Flash and Gotham are other two comics that coming to tv soon. There's the confirmation that both will air lol
