But we really don't know if the baby is evil? This is the first promo i have seen where i found out she was impregnated by an alien...It could be something like Jacob in Resurrection. We're not really sure if he is good or evil (even tho we know it can't end well)...
I agree. Halle Berry's character being worried about what is growing inside of her does not mean that the baby is going to be evil. Human might be what she is worried about and also she might not have gotten pregnant willingly.
If what CBS did last year is any indication, the network will bill it as a one-off event series and then if the ratings are good enough they'll officially make it an ongoing summer series and pretend the 'event series' premise never existed... just like what they did with Under the Dome.
That's what I thought, but I can't imagine Halle Berry committed to another year of TV. She's not a superstar these days, but I think she accepted this because it's going to be just this season.
Holy Mother of God, so many confusing terms! Still, though. I see an awful lot of people "blame" CBS for renewing it, but I've known for years that we (the public) can never expect a series to stay at just a single season if the ratings are good. They're not making a series just to make entertainment, they're always looking to get as much money from it as possible. I believe people forget that a lot with television.
Yes, I'd like CBS to admit that the success of Under the Dome led the network to change their minds and continue the series past its original one-off premise.
Ahh gotcha! While I would also like these networks to be more humble and public about their decisions, I'm frankly just overly excited we get at least a second season. It's the best broadcast network series I've seen in years! :D
Sorry for making a double-comment, but I have to ask: Despite some commercials that run before the series premiered, I never saw any sign of this being a "1 and done"-deal. Where are people getting that from, exactly? I know the premise isn't very open to longevity, but I never read anywhere (except for commentators on various forums who hated that they got involved only to have the show renewed, silly people :P), that the show was going to be a single season series.
For a second it surprised me that you never watched a CBS show, but then i realized i never watched a CW show. Not that i haven't tried,i just never liked anything on the CW...
All the networks stopped using the term 'Miniseries' by the early 2000's. Recently (in the last few years) they started using the term 'Limited series' or Limited Event Series.
Agreed. With Rosemary's baby coming out soon i think people are linking that,Resurrection and anything else that might be similar and lump them all together..
The one-and-done aspect is how the show was originally announced before they started casting and advertising. By the time they started shooting they stopped mentioning the closed-ended series aspect. Then, further along, after the consistently high ratings, the network announced a season 2 renewal. It was then that people started questioning the network about their original intentions for the show.
The different networks cant seem to agree on the difference between "event" or "limited" but you are correct that they dont mean a "1 and done" season. extant can go for multiple seasons from everything I have read.
cbs dropped the ball in their press material for under the dome since half the reviews said the show was one season and done. at least the show was renewed by week 7 so people could stop watching.
Read the articles at Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter when Halle Berry was cast. She is quoted about playing the part for 5 months out of the year because it is such a great part and still having time to other stuff for the other 7 months.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Oh,okay. I'll check it out.Like to know who/what impregnated her..
ReplyDeleteLots of shows about evil babies this year.
ReplyDeleteBut we really don't know if the baby is evil? This is the first promo i have seen where i found out she was impregnated by an alien...It could be something like Jacob in Resurrection. We're not really sure if he is good or evil (even tho we know it can't end well)...
ReplyDeleteSeems interesting.

ReplyDeleteThis look very interesting.
ReplyDeleteRosemary's Baby + The Astronaut's Wife, but it looks good.
ReplyDeleteThis is an event series or a regular one?
the first CBS show i'm gonna watch

ReplyDeleteI Really Can't Wait, Extant Looks Amazing.

ReplyDeleteExcuse me, but I believe "event series" is just a fancy word. It doesn't mean a single "1 and done"-season. That's what the term "miniseries" is for.
ReplyDeleteNetworks avoid using the term miniseries. It's been effectively replaced with 'event series.'

ReplyDeleteI don't blame CBS for trying to continue something that succeeds for them. My problem is with the networks suits not owning up to it.
ReplyDelete"not owning up to it" Never heard that expression before, please elaborate! :)
ReplyDeleteTo 'own up to' something means to truthfully admit to a deed or wrongdoing.
ReplyDeleteAs in you want them to admit they wrongly called the show an event series? Do I understand you correct or am I still lost? :P

ReplyDeleteLooks great and will watch this a long side with Under The Dome season 2.

ReplyDeleteThis looks cool, I can't wait for this and Under the Dome too! Looks very intriguing.
ReplyDeleteRead the articles at Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter when Halle Berry was cast. She is quoted about playing the part for 5 months out of the year because it is such a great part and still having time to other stuff for the other 7 months.
ReplyDeleteI don't like evil babies. They freak me out.
ReplyDeleteThe only CW show that I standed watching was Arrow, but I only watched some eps here and there, mostly fast forwarding until I gave up.
ReplyDeletePierce Gagnon! I can't wait to see him in this.
ReplyDeleteIT looks like a Movie Trailer
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping the baby is good crazy vs just crazy.
Wait how did I make my Text lean right, been trying to do that for ages.
