UNIVERSAL CITY, CA – April 7, 2014 – Amy Jo Johnson (“Flashpoint”) has been cast as a recurring guest star in USA Network’s globe-trotting hit espionage series, COVERT AFFAIRS, when it returns this summer for its fifth season.

Johnson will star as Hayley, an investigator with the National Counter Terrorism Center (NCTC) who knows how to stand her ground. A persistent woman who's an expert at taking control, Hayley goes head-to-head with Auggie (Christopher Gorham) when the intelligence community faces a united threat.

Johnson is a dynamic star whose talent spans film, television and music. She most recently starred in the television series, “Flashpoint.” Additional television credits include “Felicity,” Wildfire,” “The Division,” “What About Brian,” “ER” and “Spin City.” Film credits include “Interstate 60,” “Pursuit of Happiness,” “Fatal Trust,” “Sternman,” “Veritas,” “Liars Club” and the feature film adaptation, “Tiger Eyes.” Johnson wrote, directed, produced and starred in her first short film “Bent,” which won the audience award at the Woman in Film & Television Toronto Film Festival. A musician, Johnson has released two albums independently: “The Trans-American Treatment” and “Imperfect.” She is repped by Ronda Cooper at Characters Talent Agency in Canada and Joannie Burstein at The Burstein Company.

COVERT AFFAIRS stars Golden Globe®-nominated Piper Perabo (“Looper”), Gorham (“Ugly Betty”), Hill Harper (“CSI: NY”), Kari Matchett (“Invasion”), Peter Gallagher (“The O.C.”) and Nic Bishop (“Body of Proof”). Recently announced guest stars this season include Michael A. Goorjian and Perrey Reeves.

Season five of the series picks up after CIA operative Annie fakes her death, alters her identity and goes deep undercover in the streets of Hong Kong to defeat her most cunning opponent, Henry Wilcox (guest star Gregory Itzin). The new season will examine the price Annie will have to pay for this risky maneuver and the implications it will have on her relationships – both personally and professionally – as she attempts to re-emerge into the world she once knew.

From Universal Cable Productions, COVERT AFFAIRS was created, written and executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, and is executive produced by Doug Liman (SUITS, the "Bourne" trilogy, "Mr. and Mrs. Smith"), David Bartis (SUITS, "The O.C.") and Gene Klein (SUITS) through Hypnotic. Stephen Kay (“Sons of Anarchy”), Sean Ryerson (“Bait,” “Beyond Rangoon”), Stephen Hootstein (“What About Brian”) and Henry Alonso Myers (“Ugly Betty,” “Chuck”) also serve as executive producers. The series shoots in Toronto.

  6. Bad news: Annie's getting a new love interest. Wouldn't be surprised if Auggie does too.
