  1. So that's what we get for sneak peeks these days? The "Team Arrow ass-kicking of the week." Swell.

  2. Sara passing out is comically bad acting.

  3. I know what you mean. It would be nice for them to actually win a fight one of these days.

  4. At least up through the middle part of this season we'd get cases of the week and some tangible victories. Nowadays it's just endless pain and misery for everyone.

  5. Team Arrow is apparently losing to everyone now... Even Roy! lol

  6. Yeah, this is getting sad...

  7. Thank god it took the mask off, I couldn't work it out with just the hood down...

  8. I'm going to assume this scene takes place after Roy had already done some damage, establishing that he's dangerous and unstable, because Oliver and Sara showing up in costume/armed and attacking him on sight without even trying to talk first isn't terribly smart. Sure, Oliver tries to get through to him... AFTER Roy had already kicked Sara's ass and caught Oliver's arrow with no problem. That sends a pretty obvious message that Oliver is trying to save his own life (and Sara's) by pleading with Roy, not Roy's.
Honestly, since 2x13, Oliver has been repeatedly getting on my nerves with his self-righteousness, hypocrisy, judgmentalism and crappy decision-making.
Thumbing his nose at Moira for lying about Thea's paternity when he lies to his family about something bigger and more important every single day (and disowning her, no less).
Lying to Thea himself about the exact same thing that Moira did, after he berated Moira for it.
Going with Sara to the Lance family dinner, therefore obnoxiously rubbing their relationship in for Laurel like a week after Laurel (a depressed drug addict) learned that Sara's alive and had to contend with all of the emotional baggage that entailed.
Insisting that they can't use lethal force against Helena, because it's more important to satisfy Oliver's guilt complex about not managing to redeem a murderous criminal than to protect all of the innocent people she's threatening, including Oliver's girlfriend's sister.
Coldy and manipulatively pushing Roy to break up with Thea (without a hint of empathy), which makes zero sense considering she's the one who calms him down and helps him stay in control, and resulted in Thea being heartbroken over the guy she loves dumping her for no apparent reason.
Signing Queen Consolidated over to the woman who A) made clear her intent to perform a hostile takeover of the company several months ago, B) appeared on Oliver's father's list of the dangerous and corrupt in Starling, and C) was pinpointed as a ruthless, untrustworthy person by his mother.
It's getting pretty hard to root for Oliver as the hero of the series, when he really just comes off as an asshole with very poor judgment.

  9. you're so right about oliver.
he really gets on my nerves lately...

  10. Hell, can't even blame on him being a BDA (Big Dumb Alien) like we could on Smallville...oh the days when I rooted for Lex to win it all.

  11. Damnnn!!! This makes me sad!!! I'm pissed!! Not cool. NOW I dislike Slade a little.

  12. It upset me too about how he disowned his mother. Felicity had no right to judge her and tell Oliver. She had no right to dig into paternity theories. Of course she Moira wanted to keep this a secret. I like Felicity but it really upset that she felt she had to tell Oliver. It was none of her business.

  13. Maybe he's been infected by a low dose mirakuru himself. It would explain quite a bit. Indeed, I think nothing would make Oliver fall apart more (and Slade win) than that.

  14. That's what happens when mediocre writers and directors succumb to delusions of grandeur, rather than keeping things simple and playing to their strengths (i.e., action scenes). Dear Arrows staff: Please leave the soul-searching and the guilt and the anguish to directors like Ingmar Bergman or writers like Dostojevski and just give us some good, simple superhero fun!

  15. Many issues with this.
    1. Everyone lies on this show. Everyone. That makes the 'why' of it all what's important. The difference between Moira and Oliver is that Moira lied to protect herself and Oliver lied to protect Thea. It's the same thing when it comes to the 'Arrow."
    2. Oliver didn't manipulate Roy into a breakup. He reasoned with him in a very straightforward conversation in which Roy didn't hesitate to agree.
    3. Oliver has chosen not to use lethal force against many murderers this season. Helena, China White, Shrapnel, the imposter Hoods, etc. He's been quite consistent. The two notable exceptions being Cyrus Gold and Nyssa who he didn't kill anyway due to Sara's plea.

I will say that a case can be made for Oliver making bad decisions. Going to the dinner was a complete facepalm. No doubt about that. Letting Isabel Rochev dig her hooks into Queen Consolidated for months without a fight is yet another facepalm.

I don't agree about separating Roy from Thea though. That's a much murkier situation. It may not have been the right thing for Roy but it was the right thing for Thea. Even if it didn't work out, believing Thea would be safer away from Roy was a very logical assumption to make. On top of that, the whole "she calms him down and helps him stay in control" thing is a completely unfair and irresponsible burden to place on Thea whether she knows what's going on or not. Making Thea responsible for the stability of a super-humanly strong person with potentially lethal rage issues is much much worse than getting her heart broke. Love isn't going to fend off the effects of the Mirakuru. Roy will get worse and the delusions will set in just like with Slade, making it just a matter of time before something horrible would happen to Thea.

  16. It was none of her business to reveal another person's paternity about who the father is. Moira had an affair and it was a mistake. The only thing that came out that was the positive was Thea. Even Oliver's dad loved Thea as his own despite knowing he was not the biological father. In real life NO ONE has any right to discuss personal matters. Felicity should have kept her mouth quiet and mind her own business. One day hopefully the writers will explore that and Felicity will apologize for opening her big mouth. The Arrow keeps secrets. It is to protect the ones he loves. Just as Moira did. Anyway, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

  17. Felicity doesn't owe anyone an apology. She told Oliver because she knew he would want to know. On a show where everyone gets burned from keeping secrets, Felicity did exactly what she should have done. Anyway, yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion and we certainly have opposing ones on this particular subject.

  18. LOL. I agree the show triangulates around secrets and the burns that come from them. I think Lauren though is going to be rather forgiving towards the Oliver for keeping his secret as the Arrow. Now unless Sarah dies; then she may come undone and blame him; possibly her dad also; for encouraging Sarah. Not that they encouraged her but in Lauren's mind she will need to find some one to blame if something tragic happens to Sarah. What are your thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Well, Laurel already sent a SWAT team after Oliver so I'd say his 'Arrow' secret already burned him a little with her. :) Anyway, I'm sure Laurel will try point the finger at someone if something fatal happens to Sara. However, given Arrow's recent mission to rehabilitate the Laurel character I'd say if/when she does point the finger at someone it will be in a more appropriate direction next time.

omg Oliver just pisses me off. He has had his chance to kill Roy. Roy start going out of control when Thea was kidnapped and he left town, when Slade took him Oliver could've let Slade just kill him.

So saying, "you have to break up with my sister" is reasoning with someone?

    ReplyDelete
  22. That's just semantics. It's not like Oliver told him if he didn't break up with Thea that Oliver would force him to. There wasn't an ultimatum. There was no threat made. There was no 'or else.' Yes, he was reasoning with him. You're being way too literal.
