Lots of (fake) romance in this episode as Will reveals “feelings” for Fiona, Marcus has his first (forced) kiss, and Andy just really wants to get his wife
drunk and happy enough to have sex with him. Odd numbers?! Odd numbers ruin the whole thing!
Will may be the duplex’s resident lothario, but Marcus has him beat when it comes to first kisses by a solid three years. Granted, it was forced upon him
by bored tweens, but the manufactured pairing had some real sparks -- if you count extreme nut allergies as a commonality.
Will tries to look after Fiona, which is nice, although since this is a comedy he goes about it in an ineffectual way. He tries to protect her from being
“won” by his friend T.J., by telling T.J. that he’s in love with her, only encouraging his …friend to pursue her even harder. Of course T.J. tells everyone
that Will loves Fiona right as his actual crush Dr. Sam strolls through the door. And although Will tries to explain, Game Night is ruined and with it
Andy’s night is too. Oh poor Andy and Laurie…nothing about that relationship seems fun.
It seemed like Will’s revelation to Dr. Sam regarding his feelings for her was quite a surprise. It’s odd that this was the first time she really understood that, since he’s been trying to win her over for a few weeks now. But they finally get together, so Will can stop moping around and have a little fun again.
Laurie got to show the tiniest bit of range this episode, moving beyond “annoying” to “annoying and drunk.” On behalf of all the nagging sitcom wives out there (of which I am not a part, just their spokesperson), we salute you, Laurie, for breaking out of your one-note mold into a slightly more intoxicated mold.
Not the best episode overall, but Will’s attempt to be gallant was sweet, if misguided.
Line of the week: “Does the fact that I’m now covering up my boobs suggest flattery?” - Fiona
What did you think of the episode? Do you think Will did the right thing, or should he have trusted that Fiona could protect herself? Are you glad that Marcus didn’t go through with the peanut-death pact? Let us know below!
