One of USA Network’s signature series, drama White Collar, is poised to wrap its run with a six-episode sixth and final season. There is no official word yet, but I hear the network and series producer Fox TV Studios are finalizing the deal.

Well, this is expected, but I'm sad. At least they'll be able to wrap up the storylines. And I'll be watching the show again.

Yep. Just what I expected. When White Collar is done, USA is going to have a very weak lineup of originals besides Suits.

ReplyDeleteI was already pissed with Psych. My dvd collection looks of course not from the outside, but I can see tru that first 7 have 16 episode and the 8th will have 10... my eyes can see and it bugs me.
and Warehouse 13. Seems like this big wigs drafted a plan to make us not hate as much. Hmm lets not cancel just release a new standard 6 episode final season.

ReplyDeleteI think psych also had 6 to 8 episode before 10 in total but one was a remake and one was fan voted so it was really 8 episode......

ReplyDeleteI think people are entitled to complain when the show being discussed is pretty popular, and that the main reason this is happening is because the network doesn't own it. That's a very, very poor reason to throw a minuscule amount of episodes at fans and expect them to be happy with whatever limited wrap-up is provided.
ReplyDeleteI agree that 6 episodes is better than nothing... but I think we're entitled to express our frustration at the way White Collar and its fans have been treated. The last couple of years, White Collar has been treated like the forgotten step-child by USA as their other shows got all of the promotion. Now they're over-hyping their new reality crap and juvenile-humor "comedy."

ReplyDeleteWe are not talking about a show which ends because of low ratings, but because of one which has been deliberately cut loose by the network just because they don't own it and is a little bit more expensive. We have every right to be pissed off to get a consolation prize instead of the proper wrap-up the show deserves.
ReplyDeleteThese 6th episode final seasons are good for Tv fans. Instead of a show getting cancelled it allows for a proper conclusion to the show. Usa seems pretty good about this.

ReplyDeleteGutted that this show is finishing, loved it and the cast & crew involved. I think it had so much more story to give. oh well after the way one of my other favourite shows, the glades was cruely cut...I'm grateful they will wrap it all up properly:)

ReplyDeleteThe ratings of Graceland are terrible...they pulled less in their first season than White Collar in it's fifths. Not that I wish the fans anything bad, but fact is that all the shows USA has currently left will most likely end this year - leaving the network with a lot of cheaply produced, subpar products.

ReplyDeleteI used to watch more series on USA than any other station, now I will just have Suits & Covert Affairs. Could not get into Graceland, Psych, Rake and they don't have Burn Notice or Necessary Roughness any longer which I loved. Just glad for any ending to the series.

ReplyDeleteThis is so typical of USA. They have very successful shows. But the series end to soon. It seems like an average show span is 6 seasons. And it's either b/c the writers get lazy and the show falters. Or they stuff so much into episodes and run out of material. I have almost quit watching thier new shows. I rather be interest in a show for at least 8 seAsons. I love suits and Graceland. But have got me so afraid it will be ending soon. This show I miss the most burn notice.
ReplyDeleteYes you are right. USA may go through a down cycle unless some of the new upcoming pilots are good enough to replace the aging and retired shows. I do like Graceland but I wonder if it can really be a viable multi season show. It almost seems like it lends itself to being a shorter run series. I must admit I cringe when I see commercials for Chrisley knows best. I sure hope USA doesn't continue to go down that road very far. Their attempt at comedy so far has been rather uninspiring. Let's face it sirens will never be a hit.

ReplyDeleteWow. What a bunch of whiners. If this is what happens when we get new episodes, I'd hate to see what the bitching and moaning would've been like of they'd left that cliffhanger unresolved. I've watched plenty of shows over the years that where canceled abruptly without a definite ending. I'll happily take six episodes over none, which was a possibility.
