  5. Olicity and Scira!

  6. Its funny people talk about shows that rehash the same storyline, why can't the writers come out with something original. Well, these polls ( and not just this one ) is exactly the same!

And for half of these so called couples its much to early in the game to be a couple.I.e. Sleepy Hollow, Revolution, Elementary, Chicago PD, except for Elementary they are all in there freshman year,so i don't see where the 'Already' comes into play?....Not voting.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Oliver and Felicity, Mary and Bash Reign, Emma and Hook OUAT

    ReplyDelete
  8. Daryl and Carol; Hayley and Elijah

    ReplyDelete
  9. — Alison and Cosima (Orphan Black).

    — Mac and Dennis (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia).

    — Cercei and Jaime (Game of Thrones).

    — Jenna and Kristen (Wilfred).

    — Manny and Haley (Modern Family).

    — Maw Maw and Barney (Raising Hope).

But seriously, there's no need for that kind of thing.

  10. Much like Charlie and Monroe, I wrongly want Lydia and Peter. (that is oh so wrong) - A song of Ice/fire has ruined my morality.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Joan and Sherlock should never get together, I hate the idea that men and women simply can't be friends they have to be romantically linked. Their friendship is what makes Elementary refreshing, same with Abbie and Ichabod in Sleepy Hollow.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Where are Emma and Hook?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Abbie and Ichabod, and Other: Regina and Emma from OUAT, Jane and Maura from Rizzoli & Isles, Sherlock and John from Sherlock, and finally Jane and Lisbon from The Mentalist.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Fron the list noone.

    Other - Hook/Emma and Bash/Mary

    ReplyDelete
  15. But the same could apply for every single friendship on that list,, including Caroline/Stefan and Oliver/Felicity. So ultimately it comes down to who you personally would like to see in a romantic relationship, not whether or not you have a principle against friendships turning into relationships.

    ReplyDelete
  16. None. TV needs to stop automatically pairing characters off. Shipping has taken over TV.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Agreed. If Watson and Sherlock ever get together it will ruin the show for me. I hate that people can't let men and women be friends and partners without making it romantic. It is the most frustrating thing about TV right now.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Agreed! Their is no need for romantic entanglements all the time, its not necessary . If Sherlock and Watson or Ichabod and Abbie got together it would ruin the show for me.I love their friendship, there relationship just the way it is.

    ReplyDelete
  19. That's why 'Other' is an option.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Other - None of the above for me. I agree about the rush to pair couples off. It is not natural and ends up hurting most of the great characters.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Maura and Jane in Rizzoli and Isles!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Other : Regina & Emma (Once Upon a Time)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Agreed with both! I love those friendship and I would hate for it to change so drastically.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Exactly! Not to mention it kills great shows!

    ReplyDelete
  25. This poll is made for people who don't have any patience. I'm a big time shipper, and I'm not going to go into the utterly idiotic debate of whether shipping is a good or bad thing, or ruining shows blah freaking blah. But most of these shows are still young. Most of the more reasonable shippers out there, and there are a lot by the way, wouldn't vote on any of these because it's not time for them to hook up at all.

    ReplyDelete
  26. other: danny and mindy

    ReplyDelete
  27. Ok, so I voted Steroline! (My god it's killing me. They don't need to "get together" by the end of this season, but some verbal confirmation would be nice! Or some personal realization on ONE of their parts. An awkward hug, or jealous look wouldn't hurt either. Just give me something!

Also voted Other. For Saidan! Sally/Aidan from Being human. I mean yes it's ending, and they gave us a little taste, but it was alternate reality, and now Present Aidan doesn't remember any of it. (This saddens me so much). Yes Sally is a ghost again. But if she tried to remind him of what they had or if she confessed her feelings and he reciprocated. I'd feel much better!

lastly, (I have no idea why I'm writing all this out, sorry) I voted Olicity. Only b/c I love them (and Haylijah too btw). BUT I don't want to see anything happen with them or Haylijah, for another season or so. (Seriously though don't mind the "or so" more like next season for both). Olicity it's too soon for them. As I said plenty season 3 is their time. Possibly in the middle somewhere. Haylijah OTOH, they can kiss by the beginning of second season. Like the second season premiere. Right now they already know that they both like each other, sothat's good enough for me. (But dammit those almost kisses will be th death of me).

    ReplyDelete
  28. I don't watch the other shows so I can't comment on whether they should be friends or more but I would like to see male/female friendship a whole lot more on TV. I find that more interesting than romantic pairings.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Definitely, male character simply looks at a female character and fans are like OMG let them get together. Nope.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yeah I would be really disappointed if they went there though I know the Elementary writers have repeatedly denied they ever would so that is good.

    ReplyDelete
  31. And they mean young Monroe, I hope??

    ReplyDelete
  32. Nope, they mean Sebastian Monroe. Connor´s last name is Bennett

    ReplyDelete
  33. "So tired of this its too soon" BS

Olicity fans need to decide what they want, do you want them to be together or not.

When Oliver of Felicity is with other people, all you do is whine and hate on those other ships. Yet you dont want Oliver/Felicity now. So what the hell do you want. You cant have your cake and eat it too.

Either have them next season or get out

    ReplyDelete
  34. oliver and felicity
    charlie and monroe
    stefan and caroline
    halstead and lindsay

im pushing more for a beth/daryl and klaus/hayley pairing rather than haylijah & caryl
arrow should try Slade wilson with laurel lance that would be interesting but thats just me i guess.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Really? I don't see anything between them in the least, not even like sisters never mind something more than that.

    ReplyDelete
  36. LoL,Wow with your last paragraph!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Only voted Daryl and Carol although TBH I was under the impression they were already together during the time gap before this season started. I'm sure I'm in the minority, but most of these couples I DON'T want together because I think these pairs are better as friends. The ones I don't want together are Oliver and Felicity, Charlie and Monroe (since she started sleeping with his son), Stefan and Caroline, and Abbie and Ichabod.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Other - Lisbon and Jane of course!!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Daryl is already in love with Beth and Carol is going to die on TWD. So what's the point?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Where's Daryl and Beth?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I voted for Stefan and Caroline on The Vampire Diaries, but it looks like Caroline will find herself another bad boy. Klaus is no longer taboo since nobody cares but Tyler, and Caroline already stood up to him. Caroline will be spending more time with Enzo over the next two episodes, and she'll get to know him better later on. No one really knows Enzo except for his reputation, so if Caroline got together with him, everyone would go into shock. I know that Enzo is supposed to get a love interest, but no one is really sure if it'll be in a flashback or not. She's supposed to be connected to a vampire from Mystic Falls, so it's possible that Damon tracked her down decades ago and either killed her or turned her. Either way, she won't appear until four episodes from now.

I've seen indication that Stefan and Caroline will grow closer as friends, but it's been said that they might move in different directions. An EP said that Stefan's love life will be kept interesting. Now that Katherine is dead and Elena is clearly all about Damon, I'm very curious about who Stefan's next love interest will be. Maybe it'll be the new doppelganger, if she's like Elena, but I don't think it's likely. The new doppelganger could be of Stefan, or someone nobody knows. Doppelgangers are only supposed to be born every 100-500 years, and Elena is only 19. I keep thinking that Caroline and Enzo won't find the doppelganger, and Caroline will have to find another way to get Stefan away from the Travelers. The purpose of that part of the story could be to reveal more about Enzo or bring Caroline a little bit closer to Enzo.

  42. Yes Yes Yes....#charloe.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oliver and Felicity, Stefan and Caroline, Elijah and Hayley...
And hey, Captain Swan is missing here.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Daryl and Carol, Daryl and CAROL!

    ReplyDelete
  45. This! A thousand times this! One of the most frustrating things about Arrow (which still good) is catering way too much to the Olicity fans, which ruins the character for me.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Weird, but I'd vote for Voight and Lindsay over Halstead and Lindsay - their relationship doesn't feel earned yet.

    ReplyDelete
  47. EuphemiaWonderlandMarch 14, 2014 at 5:43 PM

Charloe. Why settle for second best when you can have the real Monroe? Also I don't care how twisted it would be. Rachel & Miles is incredible twisted and nobody seems to care.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Ok, ONE.....I don't bullshit, I mean what I say. And I say what I mean.

TWO, I'm not one of those Olicity fans, Or fans in General, that bitch and moan b/c my ship isn't together and are with other people. I'm a lot more mature than that. I'm not some teenage little girl, that needs to see their ships together right then and there. And THREE, wth is ur issue? and how about you get off my back with your attitude??

As I said I want them together but iI don't want them together too soon!!! Why don't you get that?? I can't make that any clearer. It seems YOU'RE the impatient one. How childish do you sound?? I mean really?? You like to people as a couple, that means they AUTOMATICALLY have to become a couple, just b/c YOU want it that way?? Give me a break!

FTR, I like their relationship NOW. I've liked the build between them and still continue to like the build between. Idc that Oliver is with Sara. I've expressed my likeness of them two together. And i certainly didn't mind Belicity!! I thought Barry was very cute for Felicity. So don't accuse me for not making up my mind, just b/c you see it in others. Not every fan is the same. Btw that was a helpful tip in case you didn't see that one!

So there you have it. I gave you a little bit of MY two cents. And it bothers me that i have to even justify my words just so YOU can have closure. But i see you're as blind as a bat when it comes to people' opinions and wouldn't recgonize a shipper's reasons, if it sat on your face! So take a whiff, that's your wake up call to go back to Fandom 101. And if you still don't get it maybe it's YOU that should get out.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Oliver and Felicity :)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Shipping has been part of tv since the beginning of time

    ReplyDelete
  51. And often it ruins shows as they pay FAR too much attention in the ships than in the actual story.

    ReplyDelete
  52. OLICITY!!!!! and OTHER: STYDIA FROM TEEN WOLF<333

    ReplyDelete
  53. I only went for Daryl/Carol (and the rhyming of the names is even more of a reason). I really don't see the connection between Daryl and Beth.

Got no interest in Oliver and Felicity (nor Oliver and Laurel).

Sherlock and Watson would be possibly the worst idea ever.

Charlie and Monroe - even the thought of it is a joke. Charlie and Connor I don't mind but if Charlie and Monroe were ever to get together I would quit Revolution that instant.

    ReplyDelete
  54. But you can't help it!! It breaks my heart when "two friends" have such amazing chemistry together!! EXAMPLE: My heart will always want detective Stabler and Benson together from SVU and I'm still bitter they never got together!

    ReplyDelete
  55. AMEN TO THAT! YOU GO GIRL!!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Carol and Daryl <3

    ReplyDelete
  57. Is Charlie and Monroe supposed to be Connor or Sebastien? She's currently sleeping with Connor. So they're already kind of together.

I had to vote for other though because I don't want to see any of these people get together. If Abbie & Ichabod get together it would ruin the show for me, I don't really see anything with Daryl/Carol on TWD. I hate Elijah/Hayley - making moon eyes at the girl your brother knocked up is just nothing something i an get on-board with. Then with Stefan & Caroline I really want them to remain just friends - I don't see any romantic chemistry between them, Stefan will never get over Elena (so they'll never work) and Caroline needs to focus on herself and not some love interest for a change. On OUAT wasn't Aurora knocked up the last time we saw her and about to have a baby? Or did she already have the baby?

    ReplyDelete
  58. I won´t lose my hope, even thought they probably won´t happen :D

    ReplyDelete
  59. Agree with you 100%, wouldn´t say it better :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Abby and Ichabod, Hayley and Elijah and Joan and Sherlock.

Monrie is Sebastian. Connor's last name is Bennet.

    ReplyDelete
  62. haha, thanks. i'm good now. ; )

    ReplyDelete
  63. EuphemiaWonderlandMarch 14, 2014 at 7:27 PM

People complain about Elena but since the start of the show she has only been with Stefan or Damon (her relationship with Matt happened off screen and in one flashback). Does every guy have to fall for Caroline? It's ridiculous. I love Enzo and I hope they don't ruin him with some idiotic love storyline.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Why isn't Hook and Emma on this list? Mulan and Aurora? Come on!!! That is not how the fairytale goes and she's pregnant with Phillip's child and they are married and Aurora is just annoying and needs to go....She and Phillip are the most boring storyline on the show.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Believe me, nothing would make me happier than to see Elena with someone who is not named Salvatore. Unfortunately, the EPs are all about the love triangle. I'm sure there are ways around it, or ways to interrupt the monotony at the very least, but it seems that Elena and Damon are still going to end up back together in a seriously messed-up relationship. So many people are rooting for Elena to get with Enzo that it would be too predictable at this point, so I'm taking a wild guess about Caroline because it looks like she'll be spending the most time with Enzo. I'm not trying to be offensive by saying this, but I wish the new character Luke wasn't supposed to be gay. It would open up more options if he wasn't. However, I have no problem with that element of the story if Luke's character is connected to Elena in a more interesting way. If there can't be a love interest for Elena outside the triangle, maybe she should be single for a while with a guy friend, like Caroline has in Stefan.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Oliver and Felicity on Arrow
Ichabod and Abbie on Sleepy Hollow (although they can wait till his wife is gone)
    Harvey and Donna on Suits.

    ReplyDelete
  67. EuphemiaWonderlandMarch 14, 2014 at 8:01 PM

I think this poll is about couples that haven't kissed or haven't expressed their feelings for each other.

    ReplyDelete
  68. I was going to say Captain Swan too, but then I thought it really is too early for them.

    ReplyDelete
  69. True...I didn't think of that...lol

    ReplyDelete
  70. It so happens that I think both Felicity and Sara are better as platonic friends than as lovers for Oliver on Arrow. I'd rather he was a lone hero without a girlfriend, since romance is pretty much a distraction on such shows. Unfortunately, the audience or at least the vocal part of it seems wholly disinterested in friendships as opposed to romantic relationships.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'm so sick of people asking "Where is [x]?" in such polls, it just comes off as snotty. You can say, "I think [x] should've been an option because...", but asking where it is, as if it's obvious that it should be there and the poll submitter is a dumbass for not including it, is really annoying. It's a USER-SUBMITTED poll, so the submitter obviously included the options they were aware of and considered appropriate. People need to stop with the complaints about that.

    ReplyDelete
  72. *Standing ovation*

    ReplyDelete
  73. Too bad I can't vote, I hate all of them xD

    ReplyDelete
  74. But they've already been together, and were together for all of the first two seasons basically. I don't think this poll includes exes.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Maybe, but social media has taken it to a WHOLE new level. These days, the cast and crew of a show can't be unaware of the shippers unless they hide under a rock, since every YouTube, Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, etc page on the internet related to the show is bombarded with shipping comments.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Other: bonnie and damon vampire diaries. Its time fir them to start making their way to each other. It needs to happen

    ReplyDelete
  77. There is definitely a detrimental effect to certain characters when the writers push romance too hard. Arrow's Felicity was way more likable before she started following Oliver around like a puppy and making eyes at him.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Shannon, I love ya. You're like the only sane Olicity fan out there. (Okay, not literally but those aren't easy to find.) Without you I would think they are all nutjobs who hate Sara's guts. LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Dude, I don't like Olicity either but don't put other people's words in Shannon's mouth. SHE said she's happy with where they are right now and would rather the show continued the slow build-up, rather than get them together too soon. Seems to me she knows full well what she wants. If other fans want to have their cake and eat it too in terms of the couple getting together, that's on them. I know it's hard when there are so many annoying crazies in the Olicity fandom in particular, I can relate, but don't generalize - it's unfair.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Yep,I know right! Sometimes I also think people say it that way when they actually mean hey, wake up! how stupid can you be for not including so and so in this poll. What is obvious to many is lost on some....

    ReplyDelete
  81. I ask so what. Shippers will make noise as loud as they can. They will sign silly petitions and will ask the same question again and again. None of us can stop that or ask them to stop doing it. Internet is a free community.

If the creatives and writers don't have the balls to say the story they want to say because a group of people on internet make noise then its their problem. If a show caters to one particular fandom and changes story for them its not the fandom's fault its the story teller's fault who has no confidence in their own material.

I clearly don't get the anger against shippers. They are just people who like a particular pairing and like to talk about it with like minded people.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Jamie and Brienne on Game of Thrones :)

    ReplyDelete
  83. People talk about shipping as if the fans are wrong in liking a particular pairing. You are allowed to like the story, particular characters, even the mythology in the show but if you like a pairing and call yourselves a shipper you are doing some grave wrong. Shows do not go wrong because of shipping. Shows go wrong because of bad story telling and creatives who don't have confidence in their source material.

In Arrow first half of season 2 was really strong almost flawless. We had some Olicity scenes which could be taken as romantic or not. I didn't hear much complaints then. Come 2nd half after mid season break the writing has taken a nose dive with uneven story telling and unnecessary melodrama. Some how all the blame for this is put to Olicity fandom.

I am not an Olicity shipper. I was unhappy with Oliver/Sara pairing and am not a huge fan of Sara. But I am not allowed to say that because if I say one bad word against Sara, Sara fans will accuse me of being Olicity shipper. Its not just shipping community who can be disrespectful of others on internet.

As of this poll I voted no one as I think none of these characters should get together now.

    ReplyDelete
  84. Charlie and Monroe on Revolution!

    ReplyDelete
  85. Felicity is my prime example of a great character ruined by shipping. She is now less competent, less funny, and quite frankly stuck in a corner with nothing productive to do now that her character arc is Oliver.

    ReplyDelete
  86. There is so much going on in Arrow that they can't afford these romantic sidetrips. It only makes them more annoying because they are taking time from the main story. Plus the writers already struggle to write a great female role. They seem to use romance as a shortcut for plot device, turning formerly great characters into cardboard.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Agreed. I don't understand TV's insistence on making every single male-female partnership into romance. It seems like the female characters always suffer twice as much from shipping as they get turned in damsels in distress, plot devices, or one leg of a love triangle. It feels like any original character arc gets halted the second they decide the female character has to be in a romantic relationship. It's frustrating.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Exactly! I wish show runners and writers would get off of social media. They get a warped vision of what fans as a whole want because the shippers are too pervasive. It's hard to find a social media site to talk abotu TV without the conversation being taken over by the shipping aspect when many times, at least at first, that is only a minute part of the show, if there at all.

    ReplyDelete
  89. I agree that it is primarily the network, show runners, and wrtiers' faults. However as fans are demanding more interaction from everyone in TV world, it gets obnoxious how many tweets these guys get from shippers. (I don't know about the rest because I'm not on other social media much.) When that is constantlt bombarded at you , it is easy to think that's what the whole fandom wants when really it is just one part.

    ReplyDelete
  90. It almost always ruins shows for me. The plot and the other characters and the creativity get lost in fan pandering until it feels like every show is a soap opera.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Definitely Elijah and Hayley! Their chemistry is off the charts. And I love that he is always there to protect her. :)

    ReplyDelete
  92. Yeah. I don't mind it if they bring it in slowly and work it in well, and between characters that actually seem like they should be together. Not just two random characters who a group of fans want, brought in quickly, and not written well.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Luv ya too hun. Hahaha I know what you mean. Believe me. I guess that makes me the minority. (Stops and thinks about what I just said)....I guess that'll never change. (Drum roll for racial joke) lmao ; )

    ReplyDelete
  94. Thank You Alex. You worded that perfectly. Completely dead on, w/o the "feisty" Lol loved it.

    ReplyDelete
  95. Jaime and cersei are already together now but they r going to break up next season so haha at you

    ReplyDelete
  96. For the people that haven't read the book thanks a lot,and how is Cersei and Jamie together now,he just got back home after 2 seasons.

And whats with the haha at you?

    ReplyDelete
  97. I thought I was the only Arrow fan that likes BOTH Sara and Felicity. Seems to me that most of the fandom either like Sara or Felicity. Not both of them. Glad to know that there are other fans out there that think the same as me. Even if we are outnumbered haha.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Olicity, Steroline, Charloe and Sleeping Warrior

    ReplyDelete
  99. Samantha Renee ღMarch 15, 2014 at 2:09 AM

Bash and Mary, Reign. Nevermind that she's married to his brother. Let's pretend that didn't happen. :p <3

    ReplyDelete
  100. all feel meh and kind of miss matched, only reasonable is Arrow one.

    ReplyDelete
  101. I think the problem with Elena is that she just flip-flops between the two brothers. If her and Stefan were done for good and Stefan were to move on for good I think I'd like the show better because that would be actual character development.

I agree about Caroline though. The last thing she needs is another love-interest. She needs to get a story-line of her own and not one that revolves around a guy.

    ReplyDelete
  102. [Revolution] Go #Charloe!!!

I know this has nothing to do with it, but every time I see them together I keep thinking about a scene from: Far and Away

Molly Kay: Oh, why don't you shag her and get it over with?
    Joseph Donnelly: She's... my sister!
Molly Kay: And I'm your mother.

It really just needs to happen ;) Get over it

    ReplyDelete
  103. Caryl all the way!

    ReplyDelete
  104. But this is today's reality. Unless the creators stop interacting on social media, and lets be honest they don't do it because of fans demand they do it to promote their show, they will hear people's demand. In the pre internet era it was the entertainment magazines and newspapers who used to get lots of letters from fans regarding what they like about the show, whom they want to see more etc. Now its the internet which is much cheaper and open for all. Audience demand was always there.

What I don't understand is why only the shippers asking the same questions repeatedly is looked on as some crime but not every one else. In each and every interview with Arrow creators or SA I see atleast one question about whether Arrow will be in DC cinematic universe, will Laurel become BC, will Sara die, will nightwing or Ted Kord appear. Nobody seems to be annoyed by these repeated questions.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Astrid & John from The Tomorrow People

    ReplyDelete
  106. Its not true. I have seen lots of fans on internet who loves Sara and Felicity. Lots of them ship them together and call them smoakingcanary. Even there are lots of fans for Oliver/Felicity/Sara threesome out there called smoakingcanarrow. (lol at all the names)

There is a group of people who dislike Sara. Not all of them are Olicity fans. Some Olicity fans dislike her because she came between their ship but its really a small group. But mostly people dislike Sara because her relationship with Oliver came out of left field and they are really insensitive towards Laurel and it makes both Oliver and Sara look selfish.

    ReplyDelete
  107. Other - Rick and Michonne.

    ReplyDelete
  108. I agree, but you can handle it properly if you try. For instance, I don't really watch Hannibal, but from what people have said, Bryan Fuller dealt with those questions respectfully. Some shows, like Teen Wolf, do a lot of baiting, and it gets ugly.

    ReplyDelete
  109. I am not for or against Olicity . Some of the Oliver Felicity scenes this season could have been avoided but imo it didn't degrade the quality of the show. If they put Oliver and Felicity in a relationship next season I wouldn't mind at least there is some build up towards it this season.

If we are talking about catering to fans I would say bringing Sara and Oliver into a romantic relationship without any build up was done to please the comic book fans by showing BC and GA together. This actually brought down the show a notch for me because it made both Oliver and Sara (who are both heroes and amazing characters on their own) look selfish and insensitive towards Laurel.

    ReplyDelete
  110. I guess this is another example of how extremely vocal fans paint an inaccurate picture of fandom opinions. If social media comments are to be believed, 80% of the Sara hate is because she gets in the way of Olicity. But in truth, you're probably right and a major chunk of it has to do with Oliver and Sara's selfishness and insensitivity to Laurel's feelings. As a Sara fan, I can't deny that I hate how the writers handled Canarrow in the end of 2x13 and 2x14, and that some of her actions made me want to smack her.

It was simply a mistake to reunite Oliver and Sara romantically. As close friends a badass team, they were perfect. But the obsessive need to give Oliver a romantic/sexual involvement with every. Single. Female. Character. Who isn't related to him dictated that he and Sara rekindle their past, thus reflecting negatively on both characters (like how the manner in which Olicity is being written reflects negatively on Felicity). It's a real shame. I wonder if Amanda Waller, who's about to appear in her third episode, will soon end up in bed with Ollie? I mean, she's female, attractive and not Oliver's relative. That automatically means she needs to bone him by this show's rules.

  111. Arrow is definitely a case of shipper-baiting. They keep dangling the carrot, both in terms of answering questions vaguely & noncommittally, and in terms of the actual writing (they end an episode where Oliver starts dating Sara with him telling Felicity "You will always be my girl" - seriously?). I don't know how shippers get so invested that they gobble this stuff right up, and don't realize the cast and crew are toying with them in a frankly obnoxious way to keep the show's buzz going.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Your fandom is problematic, whether you are part of the problem or not. They really need to resolve this Olicity thing by next season or dessert it for good and have Felicity going for someone else. The show is free falling from all the olicity pandering, demands and internet shouting, the longer they delay picking a path with it the longer it keeps weighing down the show. I heard your opinion loud and clear, I just dont agree with it, you dont need to justify your opinion unless its for your own satisfaction. Its about whats productive and beneficial for the show. This is not just about whats good for your ship, its about the whole damn show, the latter which is something I care about first and foremost.

And no offense to you but there is no reason to delay Oliver/Felicity anymore than they already have, let alone for seasons just because you want it, coupled with how impatient and demanding some of your fandom is. The too soon argument is total BS. Its stupid stalling thats not doing the show any favour. So its Olicity now or never, your choice. If not now, lets move on and give Felicity someone else, close the Olicity pandering for good and allow the show to retain its dignity and integrity.

  113. You're making a lot of good points. Shippers have the right to voice their opinion as much as anyone else. I think the problem for me is that their presence is overbearing. Every post on Stephen Amell or Arrow's FB page, some more than others, gets comments asking when Olicity will get together or of Olicity memes like drawings/manips of them kissing.... etc. That's despite the fact that most of these posts, naturally, have zero to do with Olicity. This is where it gets annoying for me, because you want to watch/read/talk Arrow in a particular context but the shipping/romance keeps butting in. If the Arrow page posted, for example, an interview with Stephen or Emily where they discuss Olicity, I doubt you would see tons of irrelevant comments talking about Deathstroke, Roy, Laurel becoming BC, the Queen family drama, etc. But the Olicity topic forces itself upon anything Arrow on the internet. That's why I've pretty much developed a gag reflex where this pairing is concerned - I know these fans are not responsible for bad writing, I know there are nice and respectful Olicity fans, I know I should judge everyone similarly no matter what topic they wish to discuss... but I can't help it, it's an emotional response at this point. Olicity has become a monster that overshadows everything else about Arrow or causes it to be viewed through the Olicity prism. As much as I hate what they've done with Sara (and Oliver) in terms of the Canarrow pairing, I doubt she would be called a slut that deserves to die or whatever if she wasn't getting in the way of Olicity.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Actually, I didn't have a problem with the Oliver/Felicity relationship until they hit 2x13 and beyond. And then, it has stunk on ice. I think it could be very good eventually, and because they *are* friends first.

The thing I liked about Oliver and Felicity (along with Digg) was that Oliver has an improving character arc with Felicity and Digg. The two are intriguing together because they push each other into growth. Without Oliver, Felicity would have her moral compass but still be sitting in an IT cube doing nothing with it. Without Felicity, Oliver would either be a thug killing people or have hung up the hood because of Tommy's death. I DO agree they need to do much more on Felicity's backstory; they've neglected it. But I never saw her story as being *Oliver* but rather about the work as the *Arrow*.

I'm not a fan of damsel in distress, but in all fairness, who's saved Oliver's life how many times? She has. They're running about even for the 'save' calls versus 'save the life' calls, which is not bad. We just tend to remember the distress ones, and kind of take for granted *her* saves.
But Felicity, standing in Oliver's face and calling him down? Yeah, good stuff, and we saw plenty of that in the early parts of the season. Seriously, who else *ever* calls Oliver down and says no to him? On anything? Not Sara, and that's not a Sara slam; she's too much like his old Ollie self, is all.
But if all Felicity and Oliver ever did was yell, she'll come across as a witch and he'll come across as a jerk. The point is to convey she doesn't say what she does because she's a nag; she genuinely cares about someone she thinks can be better. And Tommy's death has given him more motivation to be a real hero. He just needs someone in his corner.
And the reason she's gone downhill as a character the last few eps is, sadly, because the writers have chosen to attack her role on the team instead of writing Sara in as *part* of the team. It was stupid. However, Felicity feels it; I never thought she was jealous of Oliver and Sara so much as Oliver kind of removes himself from her and she's lost a friend. Also, she doesn't like the circumstances which have led her to feel less of a part of the team. I get that. I hate the writers like fire for choosing that path, but at least she's not screaming jealous cat, which would have ruined her. Like Oliver, she doesn't have many friends. (And speaking of no life, how many friends does *Oliver* have? Answer...um...one dead one, Felicity and Digg.)

  115. It's inevitably another fruit of the poisonous tree called shipping, in my opinion. If romance is the most interesting aspect of the show to you, and there's a love triangle where you have a strong preference for a certain pairing, the third character is reduced to an obstacle in your eyes. As such, all you want is to see them gone and their positive qualities are completely irrelevant to you. They're viewed solely in the context of the love triangle.

I admittedly don't have a horse in this particular race so of course I'm not going to hate either Sara or Felicity. While not an Olicity fan, I'm not pulling for Canarrow either because they're being grossly insensitive and inconsiderate towards Laurel. I expected Sara to prioritize mending her relationship with Laurel and helping Laurel through her depression/addiction over rekindling her and Oliver's old flame, so imagine my facepalm when she took Oliver to that freaking family dinner. UGH. But anyway, even if I *did* ship one of the pairings in the triangle, that wouldn't make me hate the third party because she's an "obstacle". Characters should be viewed and judged as individuals, not love interests. So I don't have anything against you guys shipping Olicity - you're fully in your right to do so! - but I'm pissed at the vocal overzealous part of the Olicity fandom that rakes Sara over the coals. Unless she actively sabotages Olicity or something, she doesn't deserve that.

    ReplyDelete
  116. With all respect, I'm getting kind of tired of hearing about the 'crazies' in the Olicity fandom, when absolutely nobody comments on the misogyny out there or finds THAT offensive.
I find it far more disturbing when male commenters (not on this board, thankfully, but elsewhere) talk about killing off certain characters in various shows because they're 'not hot' or talking about what they'd like to do to certain characters (in extremely vulgar language) because they ARE hot, and how *any* shipper (no matter how calm) need to 'get off their periods' (and I won't quote other comments because they go way beyond the boundaries of couth) and alleging that anyone who does 'ship *anyone* is just desperate, dateless and hot for Stephen Amell or whoever the lead in whatever show happens to be. That level of hate is frightening and I wish more male commenters, in particular, had the courage to step in and say it's not right. But apparently, they'll just speak up against relatively harmless 'shippers. Apparently, if you simply like a story arc with two characters and you like the way the actors play it, that means you're a lunatic. *eye roll*

So, I will respectfully ask you to please stop generalizing and weigh the violent and threatening statements of some posters against people who simply like a story very much. I'll take 'shippers, even if the cattiness of some 'ships does get to me. Far better than posters who think it's appropriate to discuss ways to denigrate and lower female posters and actresses simply because they are female.

And if you don't like shipping, why are you even here? Clearly, this article isn't aimed for you, so the only reason you're here is to try to destroy what others find entertaining. Not the greatest goal in the world, IMO.

    ReplyDelete
  117. And I actually agreed with that statement about Sara. I hated that they established her in a loving relationship with Nyssa and had her turn around and go right for Oliver. I'm heterosexual and happily married, but I also know that women don't change orientations at the drop of a hat, nor pick them up out of convenience -- and despite their protests, it just came across as throwing in a bit of titillation and failing to develop a character.
I would have been thrilled if she'd come in as a friend. They would have added to the team dynamic and not found the need to tear down the existing team dynamic, which I do like. I wouldn't even have cared if they brought her in as a friend and built something if they found it necessary. But throwing her in like that didn't help anything.
Again, perhaps you should revise your generalistic views of those who would like to see an Olicity relationship someday. I think I'm proving I'm not a nutjob.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Its kind of like a mob mentality with fandoms and online forums. Depends on which place you visit you will be judged and attacked by your preferences. There are some forums on internet which are mostly full of comic book fans where if an olicity fan posts something they will be attacked. This is all numbers game. The fandom has most online members will be most seen. Nothing can be done about it.

In reality if you look at the whole of season two and compare Sara scenes with so called Olicity scenes, Olicity scenes all together won't be equal to 15 mins of screen time. The show is not going down because of Olicity.

    ReplyDelete
  119. That in nutshell, is what Im saying about Olicity and why I feel it has to be done now or never.

    ReplyDelete
  120. Personally I think audience love Felicity more than Olicity. They want Olicity to happen because Felicity is only shown to have scenes with Oliver and a little bit with Diggle. When Sara was introduced first to Team Arrow every one had high hopes for a female friendship and thus giving Felicity some one else to interact with.

This show has a problem writing female characters unless they are a member of Queen family. Atleast Laurel had Tommy in season 1 to bounce off and was not completely bound to Oliver. They could have taken Sara's come back in so many different ways. They should have shown her struggling to adjust to normal life instead we are shown how others adjust to her. We are shown Oliver's, Laurel's and Felicity's reactions and change in characters due to Sara. Where is Sara's struggle? Sara coming back had a potential for developing both Felicity and Laurel outside Oliver but by putting Oliver and Sara together there is almost no chance left for Sara/Felicity friendship to further and Sara/Laurel will have to deal with Oliver instead of themselves.

At least with Isabel it was clearly a one night stand. I am all for it.

    ReplyDelete
  121. The big Arrow comic sites I have been on actually do have Olicity fans, some comic book fans are actually Felicity/Olicity fans. I have never seen this attack on Olicity fans, if it happens its very rare. Yes many other non olicity fans including some comic book fans are fed up with most of Olicity fandom behaviour online but it doesnt mean we hate on every Olicity fan. its not even the fan, its the shipper behaviour that people dislike.

I really doubt that, Olicity has had more screentime than 15 minutes all season so far. On average they probably get 5-10 minutes together every episode. No the show is going down for a number of reasons that has to do with writing, but Olicity pandering has its part in it.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Calling Laurel or Felicity only as damsel in distress in a show like this is stupid. How many of the characters were in distress in this show and had to be saved. Oliver, Diggle, Felicity, Sara, Laurel, Moira, Thea, Roy, Sin and Walter has all been dudes and damsel's in distress and has been saved by someone else. Quentin is the only one on the show who has not been saved by anyone else.

The problem with integration of Sara to Team Arrow was we were not shown Sara's feelings or her struggles instead everyone else changed to adjust to her. Time of Death was an anomaly episode in my opinion. They went completely wrong by going for insecurity thing with Felicity when 2 episodes before they showed Oliver confirming her role on the team.

    ReplyDelete
  123. When I said 15 mins of screen time, I meant scenes between Oliver and Felicity that can be considered or taken as romantic. I didn't include the scenes where Oliver and Felicity are discussing their current case or things like that. Felicity is a part of team arrow and she is the resident hacker who gathers information. Naturally she has screen time with Oliver.

  124. Sometimes I think that the extreme anti-shippers can be just as nearsighted and disrespectful as the extreme shippers. After reading all of the posts, I really think that both extremes need to be more open-minded. Personally, I enjoy romantic subplots. However, it's never been the central reason for why I watch a show, nor does it need to be be part of every show I watch, LIke Shannon, I would love to see Felicity and Oliver together, but the fact that it hasn't happened really doesn't make or break the show for me, since there are so many other interesting plots. I also like Sara, and think that she's a great addition to the cast. Unfortunately, I think people tend to have a hard time distinguishing between those of us who see the romance as a fun, harmless subplot and those people who who get so wrapped up in a couple that they can't appreciate any other aspects of the show and hate any character who gets in the way of that romance. The problem with extreme shippers is that they post so regularly, that it gives the producers and writers a skewed view of what people really want, which can end up affecting the direction of the writing. Shows like The Vampire Diaries, Scandal, Bitten, Reign and now Arrow, will all eventually suffer because of this, if they haven't already. Gossip Girl was the perfect example of a show that went downhill, At the same time, I really don't think it's fair to put down anyone who dares to root for a romantic pairing, especially since most of us do not do it in an extreme manner. Romance is a part of life and sometimes in the midst of all the action, fighting and supernatural stuff, it's one of those things that help to make the characters more human.

  126. The user above me doesn't want shipping because he/she think it ruins a show, and you're saying it has taken over the media. It has two different weights. The thing is, for some reason, romantic relationships is what drives people more, they may watch the show for every single aspect but it's the romance that makes them sit on the edge of their chair. It will NEVER change, ever.

It's not a ship that ruins the tv show, it's the writers.

  133. Hahahaha, MY fandom is problematic?? By "fandom" I hope you mean the Arrow fandom, b/c as far as I know, Arrow has high ratings and is kicking ass. (Sense the sarcasm). As far as the Olicity fandom. C'mon, what shipper fandom isn't problematic?? I don't go on Tumbler, I don't have Instagram, and iI've been taking a hiatus from my FB page, so I haven't seen the comments that everyone is talking about. However, I do know they exsist. And me personally, have never felt a fandom shipping or otherwise has ruined a show. (Except possibly SPN. As being a part of the fandom. It annoys me that this show is still going b/c people just won't let go). I believe that TPTB are going to do with they want to do b/c it's what THEY want. And they don't cave b/c of what fans want. Do I think they throw us a bone once in awhile? Sure. But do they go by what we want? No. If every writer went by what fans wanted with their shows, there would be no shows.

Anyways, so what you're basically saying is that Olicity needs so happen now or never b/c the longer they drag it out, the worse the show will get? You must be joking? Is that seriously what you think? B/c there is so much proof out there, that you are wrong with that theory. Actually, I believe when they put a pairing together ABRUPTLY, THAT is what can ruin a show. I mean yes, once in awhile (depending on the show) it's a relief that we don't have to wait 3,4, even 5 yrs for a couple to get together. But other times, it's the best thing for a series. But when you toss a couple together in the first or second season, it doesn't work b/c most people get turned off by the "cliché of it all" and they find themselves changing the channel or saying oh "it's a girly show". (Which I hate btw! I'm a female, but I love action more than romance. Just b/c there's romance in a show doesn't make it a "girly show").

My point is. Oliver is and has always been a playboy. It baffles me that most people are bothered by his sleeping around. It's what he does. It's his character. It's how he has always been written. (Even though he marries BC later on, but that doesn't mean he didn't have relationships along the way). As for Felicity, it's HER choice if she wants to move on or not. She's a grown woman, she can make her own decisions. Right now iI think her feelings are torn between Oliver's and Barry's. And that's fine by me. It's not like she has men knocking on her door (not that iI like her settling either) and the men she does come across in the show want to kill her.

The writers know what they're doing and they feed off the drama that the fans pour out. They love it. I mean c'mon, if they're not getting yelled at, they're not doing their jobs right.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I don't have a problem with Sara and Nyssa's relationship. There are several issues here, I'll try to tackle them one by one.
    1. I don't see Sara as having "jumped" from Nyssa to Oliver. Many months had passed since she left Nanda Parbat, and she did tell Nyssa "I loved you" to which Nyssa replied "But not anymore." She could've still had some residual feelings for her, hence asking Oliver not to kill her, but I don't find it unbelievable that she had moved on by that point.
    2. I don't know why Sara's sexuality bothers anyone unless they insist that sexuality is a gay-straight dichotomy, when most studies consider it a sliding scale with many shades of bisexuality in the middle. If Sara was a character we had known for years and she'd had like 7 boyfriends, I'd more easily understand the argument that her being bi came out of left field. But she's had one male (Oliver) and one female (Nyssa) partner. Nothing so unrealistic here, in my opinion. She didn't "switch teams".
    3. I strongly disagree with the claim that this plot was meant to titillate viewers with "girl on girl action". I think people have a knee-jerk reaction of accusing shows of that whenever there's a lesbian storyline on TV. I understand why - many shows have had lesbian kisses for sweeps - but I think it's unfair to put Arrow in that category. If it had been a ratings stunt, they would've hyped up the kiss before the episode. Instead, they said nothing about it and didn't show it in the promo (which shows almost always do when the intent is audience titillation); all they gave was an implication of the Sara/Nyssa romance (saying Nyssa was trying to get Sara to come back to her). And I honestly think the way they got together is quite believable; Sara found herself in a terrifying situation, all alone, being forced to become an assassin. And there Nyssa was, helping and protecting her. It's common for romantic feelings to develop in such situations, regardless of gender.

Now, everything else you said, I sign off on. The way Oliver/Sara was written in 2x14 was a fiasco, and yes, I don't like Laurel either but their complete disregard for her emotional well-being is appalling. Sara should've put mending the fences with Laurel as her top priority. I don't begrudge her initially having sex with Oliver in the cave because I think she was really hurt and seeking solace at that moment. But beginning to actually date him and bringing him to that dinner was incredibly selfish. I hate that they went there. Oliver and Sara should be friends only, and I hope to see Sara as a friend to Felicity, Diggle and Roy as well.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Absolutely, the show is bursting at the seams already with all the different plots and characters. They're working in as many elements from DC as possible to make comic fans excited, but it's becoming a mess. Otherwise Roy wouldn't have disappeared for 2 episodes after his long-awaited induction into the team. Anyway, romance should be at the bottom of their priority list, but unfortunately it doesn't work that way with TV writers.

    ReplyDelete
  136. Frankly, a threesome would solve the problem, right? Plus, we already know Sara swings both ways and thinks Felicity is cute. And I really don't think Oliver (or the straight male audience) would mind ;-)

As much as iI love my gays. I can't even imagine Felicity being a little bi-curious. Hell iI don't even think she's lost her virginity yet. Ughh, this is frustrating. Can TPTB give us more Felicity history?? Cuz i'm dying!!

    ReplyDelete
  141. LMAO, I wasn't being serious. Even if I did want it to happen, I don't think The CW is going there any time soon. Haha. Although they did once tease a threesome in a TVD promo (Damon/Rebekah/Sage) to generate hype. And I think there was one on Gossip Girl.

Yeah, I wanna know more about Felicity but I hope they don't give her some tragic backstory. It's nice to have one relatively normal character. Although tjey already implied something bad with her father leaving her. :/

  147. This may have been mentioned before but isn't Ichabod married, his wife is still alive and they both appear to be still very much in love. Isn't this still the first season, waiting for the second season. Then why are people in such a hurry to tie Ichabod and Abbie to the bedpost.

When you think of the effort that went into making this a good show, and the way all of that effort has been thrown out by some of the fans who only care about shipping, like they are dressing pretty dolls.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I honestly don't get the obsession over a certain pairing - but that's not the problem. There is a difference between what fans like to throw together and what is actually happening on the show. A show which is built around a certain pairing doesn't work for me. (For example, nobody expect Johnlock actually to happen in Sherlock, and I don't think that the writers will ever go there).
When it comes to Arrow, both seasons were pretty bad in this regard. In the first season they tried to create a shipping scenario for Oliver and Laurel - they just didn't succeed, because a lot of fans were drawn to Olicity instead. Now they latched onto it, but Olicity in the first season mostly worked because it WASN'T the pairing the writers tried to push. They should stop building their show around shipping and concentrate on the other really good stuff they have.

    ReplyDelete
  149. I agree that they tried to build the show around Oliver/Laurel and their tragic love story. They were unsuccessful not just because of the lack of chemistry between the actors but mainly due to the horrible cheating back story they gave to the characters. The cheating was part of the comics but it will not work in the present day as no woman can identify with Laurel who is still in love with the guy who cheated on her that too with her sister. Rather than shipping I think they were trying to be true to the comics and failed miserably.

I would disagree season 2 of the show is built around Olicity. I was re-watching the first half of season 2 recently and realized if I was not on internet discussing Arrow and looking for spoilers and interviews I will not find Olicity forced. Felicity even in season 1 had a crush on Oliver and as Oliver changed from a killer to a hero on the show Felicity's feelings for Oliver increased. Its not that unbelievable. Except for Time of Death (for me) which felt forced to me their growth as characters and feelings for each other feels normal for me. If I was not on internet and had never read comments from Olicity shippers I wouldn't even find most of their scenes romantic.

Could they have avoided some scenes which were put on the show only for fans to make gifs definitely. Could they have given Diggle more scenes all through out the season so that it doesn't feel like Felicity have stolen his screen time (I don't agree with this), a big yes. Writers are struggling this season juggling all the characters in this show.
