At the end of episode 16 of The CW's "The Originals," immortal vampire Rebekah (Claire Holt) was seen exiting New Orleans in a red convertible, wind whipping through her hair, after she bid goodbye to the important people in her life. Now, Zap2it can reveal that yes -- it was a true goodbye. "Farewell to Storyville" was the actress' final episode of the series.
Sources tell Zap2it that the episode was Holt's last one as a series regular, although the option is open for her to return periodically as a guest star. Holt was the final cast member to sign on to the "Vampire Diaries" spinoff.

Are you freaking KIDDING ME?!?!??!
ReplyDeletePlease tell me this is just a sick joke. PLEASE. :(
ReplyDeleteWTF
ReplyDeleteUh...w-what? I really have no words... ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
ReplyDeleteWooow! And I don't even watch this show. I loved her on TVD.
ReplyDeleteOk, I didn't saw this one coming
ReplyDeleteHer character had been written in a frustratingly inconsistent manner since the start of the series but I sure as hell didn't want her to leave. Damn. This sucks. Why the hell even start the series if she didn't want to continue playing the character?
ReplyDeleteLike a poster on the TVD wikia said:
ReplyDelete"We're one "I'm a 40 year old dad of a newborn baby and I need to spend more time with her Panic Attack" to being renamed the Klaus Diaries lol"
It seems the actress wanted out....I don't get it. What the hell happened?
ReplyDeleteCan she take Marcel with her?
ReplyDeleteI honestly haven't been feeling her angle on this show. I think she was a much better and much more sympathetic character on TVD, so I'm not all that broken up about this.
Hopefully we get a new female character.
Losing the character sucks, but this is best for Rebekah. She needs a chance to live her own life and I don't think she'll ever be happy as long as she's involved in her family's schemes.
ReplyDeleteWHAT?? No way!! I have very little interest in this show without Claire Holt.
ReplyDeleteI'm pissed. I am not saying this however, out of anger, but I really don't know that I'll watch the show anymore? I like Elijah, but he isn't anything major for me. Klaus is an unbearable character. Marcel & Haley can be in or out, doesn't matter to me. I really ever only rlly liked Rebekah.. I think they've lost a viewer unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteApparently she didn't want to play the role for as long as she did and wanted to move on.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm just waiting for the inevitable announcement that Claire Holt has signed on to topline a pilot.
ReplyDeleteomg, i'm without words. seriously, WTF??!
ReplyDeleteNah. They'd just change the title to "The Original."
ReplyDeleteTo elaborate...Rebekah is one of my favorite characters in this universe and I *love* Claire Holt. The Originals is already super heavy on the male characters, and now we have a show called "The Originals" that's only about TWO of the original family? I mean...you'd think they'd try to bring back Kol from the dead now or something, but he's gone to that SPN spin-off.
ReplyDeleteLe sigh.
Hopefully the show is still as good but I must admit...I don't think I'll enjoy the show so much anymore. But I really hope I'm wrong.
Can only assume she's gotten something better. I'd like to see a new female character to replace her. But I'm not going to miss the logic twist that kept Rebekah in NO: I want my freedom, but I refuse to leave. They never got past that, so maybe it's better from a plot point she goes her own way.
ReplyDeleteI'm done with the show now and I'm also close to tuning out of the Vampire Diaries.
ReplyDeletegod no...but the poster was kinda right, we're indeed one decision away of this becoming the Klaus-solo show
ReplyDelete(Wilhelm Scream) NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my heart!! Ok as Caroline would say...Good news bad news....Bad news..It is Claire's last episode as a SERIES REGULAR....Good news...THE OPTION IS OPEN FOR HER TO RETURN PERIODICALLY!!
Oh hell yes to this happening! I'll watch anything she will show up in.
ReplyDeleteYou must be kidding right wtfffff Claire holt is amazing why why why :(
ReplyDeleteExactly! Rebekah was my favorite character. My interest in this show just went down a few notches. This is upsetting...
ReplyDeleteI agree. I think DG's workload and family situation is a looming dark spectre over the series. If the EP's don't A) pull some long-lost family members out of the woodwork or B) convince Daniel Gillies and the Saving Hope EPs to release him from his contract this series could be in trouble.
ReplyDeleteShe is IRREPLACEABLE!!! Women will come and go, but they will NEVER take the place of Rebekah Mikaelson. You remember that.
ReplyDeleteAnd to think a few hours ago i was voting Rebekah as my favourite character on the show...
ReplyDeleteOh wow. I was not expecting that at all.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if she didn't like the direction her character was going in and wanted out. I really think they screwed up by killing off Kol & Finn back on TVD though - they should have left it open to bring them back occasionally.
Agreed, DGs has proven to be incredibly loyal to the show in the past but now with being a dad, regular on another show and being the one cast member to voice his issues with the show I'm kinda worried.
ReplyDeleteIsn't Saving Hope still co-produced by CBS ?
I'm expecting them to bring in the unnamed firstborn now.
ReplyDeleteHis death was never shown onscreen so he could have been alive all this time.
I don't believe CBS is on board with that show at all unless they have a stake in Bell media.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely I know that I'm done watching. At least on TVD there was an opportunity to water Klaus down as they had so many characters to concentrate on. I'm a Klaus fan but now that he has his own show I've realized I can only tolerate him in small doses
ReplyDeleteI'm annoyed now! Claire and Phoebe were the only reasons for me to watch the show. But I wouldn't be surprised if Claire gets the female lead on iZombie. The only show still to cast its lead.
ReplyDeleteI think his name was Victor, or something like that. The Original Witch killed him before Klaus had a chance to kill her.
ReplyDeleteTheirs a rumor going around that she wants to move on from TV into movies.
ReplyDeleteThis is beyond upsetting they have lost 1/3 of the premise of TO. I was close to tuning out before this and now I will no longer watch. What I don't get is when Claire Holt signed on to TO wouldn't they have locked her in for the standard 6yr contract?
ReplyDeleteGuys, it's a little bit early for an April Fool's joke isn't it?
ReplyDeleteIf that's true, good luck. Many TV actresses try and few succeed.
ReplyDeleteNope. Esther's first child died in a plague which is what spurred her and Mikael's decision to move elsewhere (and they moved to village of werewolves) and then she had 6 more children and the youngest child was killed by a werewolf.
ReplyDeleteCome on.. Klaus-solo show... it's about family.. they're always said the family word every second sentence.. it's not just all about Niklaus
ReplyDeleteBummer..... granted she's been very underutilised but still....
ReplyDeleteWhy would she sign up onto a show only to leave 16 episodes later?
ReplyDeleteThe show already has so many male leads. I'm not a big fan of Rebekah like others (at least not on The Originals) but I feel like the show needed her, if not to have a main character female view outside of Hayley, then because she's an Original and so many have already been killed.
I heard that there will be a lot of new characters on the show in or by the second season. That's why I'm going to look back into the show in September, or whenever it starts in the Fall, since I can't watch anymore of this season. I'm not bothered by Claire Holt's exit. Rebekah's character was becoming frustrating. I'm glad that she left on good terms and not the way Katherine left TVD. I'm sure that Julie Plec will get all kinds of trouble from Claire Holt fans, but it looks like it was Ms. Holt's decision to leave the show. There's already a new character named Francesca who will make contact with Elijah in the next episode. Genevieve warned Marcel to go away with dignity, and since he refuses, he will probably be replaced as well. I wouldn't be surprised if Cami doesn't stick around for very long either. I'd be interested to see all new supporting characters as long as they're not like the current ones. Maybe the show will be worth watching if or when the producers pull it together.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought, Bell media being a sub-division of CBSEntertainment. Off to google I go
ReplyDeleteThat's what I was wondering as well. I think maybe she decided to go ahead and give the show a shot and see what happened but maybe once it go going she just didn't like where her character was going and didn't feel like Rebekah was being written well.
ReplyDeleteI hope so too. Genevieve has the potential I think to be a good addition to the show. I do think that Marcel should have gone as well though - he's just so inconsistent as a character. Also all his complaining about Elijah & Klaus living in their house (that they built) was annoying. He ran them out of town and moved into THEIR house - they came back to town and moved back into the house. Marcel stole it from them in the first place, they just stole it back.
ReplyDeleteAre they f-ing kidding. Julie Plec has gone ape crazy.First killing off Katharine on VD,and now writing off Rebekah?
ReplyDeleteYeah, blame Julie :D don't you think that Claire want to leave the show.. I don't know why, but Rebekah wasn't killed so it's not a writing-off situation.
ReplyDeleteKatherine was well passed her expiration date and this was clearly Claire Holt's decision.
ReplyDeleteTvlines article states that there is a contesting report about this being the producers decision.
ReplyDeleteit was on the cave's wall (TVD - 3x08).. firstborn child name was Aaron.
ReplyDeleteWhat the fuck? This is unacceptable! Could it be on set drama or actress/writers drama? Whatever it is the show will suffer and this came out of the blue. Rebekah has a big fanbase, and one of the article says the Julie Plec said Rebekah isn't important to the plot anymore? She's the one poisoning both TVD and TO. I miss Kevin Williamson.
ReplyDeleteKatharine's depture was my last straw with VD,and I am done with show now. With the originals Rebekah's depture doesn't make me happy but won't cause me to quit watching yet. But,they lost female hottie of show now.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't surprise me/Why couldn't they have rebekah on for whole season and have season finale be her depture.
ReplyDeleteand there's Daniel Gillies working on two shows....
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it. I remember a summer interview when she said she hoped in The Originals' success 'cause she wants to work, and now she leaves? I know people can change their mind, but I'm really sad :(
ReplyDeleteDaniella Pineda already left (she will play a character on a Nbc pilot) and now Claire Holt is leaving, who's next?
i think is a really bad idea, i would rather they putting another actress to play rebekah than writing off the character.
ReplyDeleteThat conflicting report was from The Wrap, a website with a reputation of shoddy reporting and getting facts wrong. I never trust anything they report that contradicts other sites unless the provide additional sources to back it up.
ReplyDeleteWhat hope we see her on Vampire Diaries or on a new show love this show but it's more of male show now I'll continue to watch but mad she gone
ReplyDeleteJust thinking about it now. Considering TVD cast are contracted for 6 seasons, could this be a sign that it will be ending after all? Meaning they couldn't negotiate further.
ReplyDeleteI could see them culling some cast members of TO and bringing over those from TVD who want to stay. The Klaus/Caroline thing has constantly been brought up since the 100th episode which could be hinting at something (Caroline going after Klaus). So despite wanting to leave of her own accord they could have requested that Claire stay until they prepare Caroline story-wise. Plus Daniella (Sophie) is gone too.
- Considering Rebekah left, Candice (Caroline) could replace her as the female lead.
- It would also tie in with the rumors recently that Steven (Jeremy) is making the jump to Arrow
- And the rumors that Nina (Elena), Ian (Damon), Paul (Stefen) and Katerina (Bonnie) are ready to move on.
- Zach (Matt) and Michael (Tyler) are the only 2 I haven't heard anything about. But based on fan reaction, I think people would rather see their characters retired.
here's to FUCK YOU AND I WON'T WATCH YOU ANYMORE!
ReplyDeleteShouldn't main cast actors be under multi-year contracts? This is very weird. Either she was fired or just left because of reasons.
ReplyDeleteWell, scandal actually could be a good PR for the show. Lets hope.
I heard the Actress of Katharine didn't want to be on the show anymore.
ReplyDeleteShe was the last original to sign on to the series and did so way after the others committed to the project. It's a distinct possibility that she committed to this handful of episodes only to help start the series and never intended to stick around.
ReplyDeleteNina Dobrev Is lead of VD.SO she didn't cause katharine to be killed.
ReplyDeleteI watch for Rebekah and Elijah, they're my favorite characters.I can't believe she's just leaving. You can't have a show about the Original Family with only two of three living Originals.
ReplyDeleteI watched this cause of Rebekah i havent seen the episode yet but WTH WHY¿? she was great, she is great, it`s suppossed to eb called "The originals" cause of them 3 the only ones remaining.. i'm like... surprised is not the word
ReplyDeleteThis all screams as Producer decsion.Of course they will blame Claire for it due to backlash they are getting.
ReplyDeleteNoooooooooooooooooooooooo, I love Rebekah.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure she's the one or the only one to be blamed, but someone is definitely screwing up the franchise. TVD is a bore with Dullena this season, and now this with The Originals.
ReplyDeleteI'm very upset by this. I hated her on TVD but I loved her on The Originals. I'm in total denial about this right now. Even if she did want out, you re-negociate with an actor to get them to stay (I also can't believe they let her out of what was probably a 6 season contract). You don't put a dent in what is the best new show of the season (A quality) when it's been highly successful creatively. I'm heartbroken.
ReplyDeleteCould be. But what the point? From the producers perspective is better to cast new actress from the beginning then write the important character off or recast in the middle of not-yet-established 1st season. Doesn't seem very smart to me.
ReplyDeleteit's not going to be the same i mean, she was great she has always been and now she is gone and will come back just for a few eps per season it's kind of unffair and then she will go and came back again¿? The show it`s called the originals for the three of them now there is only two and the best one left
ReplyDeleteNoooooooo.Worst News
ReplyDeleteWow. I can only speculate but it seems like this was not a rash decision. Obviously the showrunners had time to write this episode, which allows the character (actress) and explainable exit and yet the ability to return to the series. My guess is that Claire Holt is looking to move on in her career. It's likely that she has other projects already.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shock because I was actually more worried that Daniel Gillies would leave given that he has another fulltime TV gig with Saving Hope, I get the sense (from interviews) that he is displeased with the direction of The Originals, and just became a dad. I'm sure that he's also working on his next film project (ie, writing, directing). I wouldn't have been surprised if he had dialed back his time on TO. But now? I assume that they will need him more than ever.
It's a shame that Rebekah will not be around. It will be a detriment to the show to lose such a strong female lead. And a lead that didn't have any romance with the 2 male leads (because obviously, she was related), which is usually what happens with these types of shows. The show needs more of a balance to Klaus' rage/ego and Elijah's pathological need to redeem Klaus. As much as I like the idea of bringing back Kol, I don't seem him being that balance. Finn, we didn't really know much about but a cardboard cutout could have played that role. And Mikael and Esther...well, they were insane. :)
So, I would like to see how they balance the show without it being just a big boys' club.
Recasting an already popular character to topline a spinoff is not a good idea. Too much backlash and the potential to take focus away from the series itself is too great. Strategically it actually makes more sense for something like this to happen well after the launch after viewers have had a chance to get attached to the show.
ReplyDeletebummer news as she and Elijah were the main reasons for me to really watch the show, but I wish her luck in landing another show and to see her recur on TO from time to time
ReplyDeleteClaire's contract took more time than the others so I guess we know now why. I think she was bored with Rebekah and just wanted to do a couple of episodes before moving on.
ReplyDeleteI do not know what to think about this......... I feel weird,
ReplyDeleteCandice is getting married soon and will have 2 young stepchildren. Do you really think she wants to continue playing a teenage vampire for several years? I doubt it. I think the whole cast is ready to move on tbqh. I don't see Candice joining TO as a regular gig. They'd have to renegotiate her contract and I just don't see it happening...especially since she does not like nor support the Klaroline thing.
ReplyDeleteThat sucks. I can only hope that this was a decision that Claire made herself, rather than the writers just wanting to do something shocking by writing a regular character out...
ReplyDeleteCould you elaborate on what you mean that he expressed his issues with the show? I haven't heard anything
ReplyDeleteWell DG will again have to miss several episodes in season 2 while he's filming Saving Hope.
ReplyDeleteI am devastated. She was my favourite character. It's going to be hard to keep watching. I can't keep watching Klaus and Elijah by themselves. Marcel. then the witches in subplots. I am so disappointed. Extremely saddened by this. Why did Claire want to leave?
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell is going on, first Katherine (Elena is still there, but it's not the same) and now Rebekah, too of the coolest women on TheCW are leaving, what's up with the writers, I wonder if it was a good idea that the renewed this show for a second season when this is happening, people like me are going to be angry!
ReplyDeleteI think for some of the actors it's just about being employed and getting a paycheck - so they stick with it even if they don't like where the show is going. I'm pretty sure being on TVD is the steadiest acting job that Candice has ever had and I'm pretty sure I've seen interviews where she's indicated that she likes having a consistent pay check coming in. I do kind of agree that most of the cast i over the show at this point though. I think Nina, Paul & Ian are all fed up with the never-ending love triangle and are ready to move on to new things and frustrated by the lack of character development.
ReplyDeleteNO way, she was my favourite, and she's an Original the show won't be the same without her!!! WHY!!!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more
ReplyDeleteOmg they're going to pull a "Tyler" Only difference is people WILL be HAPPY to see her! I want an explanation for this. I don't want rumors i want facts!! Is she pregnant?? Is she dying?? Did she in fact sign a contract with a major film studio?? What?? What?? is CLAIRE'S REASON for leaving?!?!? When somebody figures that out, let me know. Smh
ReplyDeleteWTF? She was the best character by far. So now the show called The Originals will only have 2 of 6 Originals? This is my 2nd favorite TV show right now, but i can say it is going down from now on :(
ReplyDeleteExactly, people says it was the Production desition but i dont believe that i mean why are they going to do a show regarding the Original family and then they are going to separate them again when episode after episode all they talk about is how family is what really important no matter what and without family they are nothing, i havent een the episode yet i will watch it tomorrow but for whatever happened they all been together even when they were on the coffins they were still there now the family is broken.
ReplyDeleteBring her back to Mystic Falls at least and pair her finally with Matty boy now that he`s broken cause Nadia is gone.
wait, she's not left yet...
ReplyDeleteThe Production's decision? Yeah that's bullshit. Idc about the whole Family aspect of it all. B/c u can still be close to your family, and live another life somewhere else. As far as them being in their coffins, Umm they were held against their will. Haha that really doesn't count. Idc for "marbekah" either. What really bothers me is the fact that they would go through all this trouble to make a spin off, then when the spin off is a hit. The 3 main characters the show is suppose to be about, gets knocked down to two, BEFORE the season finale. What kinda shit is that?? I mean if they did this in the season finale, I'd be a LITTLE less upset and confused.
ReplyDeleteShe has, the articles have said that Claire Holt is no longer a series regular.
ReplyDeletePretty sure he was joking.
ReplyDeleteyep, but she will be in the next episode...
ReplyDeleteyeah, u're right, sorry, I did not see the tongiht episode...
ReplyDeleteWow. I'm SHOCKED. I really hope this was just Claire's decision and she has something else lined up and not a producer decision because that's a pretty damn stupid decision and you can't fix stupid.
ReplyDeleteit was agains their will i know but still Klaus easily could've throw them into the deep ocean and he didnt. On a season finale would've been more surprising and more confusing cause the showrunner wouldn't have said so fast that she was not going to get back untill almost the premiere like 2 months after.
ReplyDeleteThe TO stuff is near the end:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2013/12/31/saving-hope-season-3-daniel-gillies_n_4524618.html
WTF????????
ReplyDeleteI beg your pardon?!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLOL yeah b/c living in a box for most of ur life is so much better. he doesn't get a "get out of jail free card" with me. And idts. i think they would've announced it fast either way. If not right after the season finale, then probably CC the latest.
ReplyDeletei just going to believe that if this was "production desition" it was because they thought the show wasnt going to work and they wanted to give somekind of end to her story.
ReplyDeleteI doubt they thought that. It's a spin-off of TVD, The Cw's highest rated show for 5 yrs straight. They knew it was going to succeed. I think they might've made this decision during one of the hiatuses.
ReplyDeleteLOL ikr.
ReplyDeleteIt is so ridiculous I can't even react. I only started watching the show for her and Elijah and he misses some episodes because of his other show!!!
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, could be that I'm misinterpreting his tone but he doesn't seem fond of The Originals at all. Not that I disagree with everything he said but it's really shocking to see those statements, he's so GREAT at playing Elijah I thought he enjoyed it more. Haha.
ReplyDeleteClaire Holt should be cast as the female lead of The CW pilot "iZombie"! The CW still hasnt announced who the lead actress is!
ReplyDeleteI will miss Rebekah a lot. Loved Claire Holt. If this is her decision and she is happy with it then I am fine with it too. At least she got a wonderful farewell where she could show her talent. All the best Claire for your future endeavors. Hope to see you again some time as Rebekah in TO.
ReplyDeleteI´ve thought it was a joke. I love Claire Holt as Rebekah, I´m seriously gonna miss her :(
ReplyDeleteEXACTLY my thoughts! Now I am really worried they would turn it into a Klaus-show (which would be my cue to leave). So disappointing. :(
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! Rebekah was my favorite!
ReplyDeleteDid not see that coming...
ReplyDeleteAdmittedly,I haven't watched past the pilot, but mainly because I have no time.I was thinking of watching it during the summer, but now I'm not so sure.I haven't watched VD in a couple of years, but when I was last on board the Original family was my favorite part. So,I was really excited when I heard about the show, but from what I hear I had just pictured it differently.A lot more family dynamics, and not just between Klaus and Elijah(as they are the ones we've seen the most of). When they announced the show I was honestly expecting them to resurrect a couple of them(Kol,perhaps, since he was generally liked by the audience) just to have more family members.
I hate to say it, but part of me wishes for it to become The Klaus Diaries and tank royally in the ratings so that Klaus is finally exposed for the ridiculous crap character he is. And so people stop claiming that Joseph Morgan is the second coming of Al Pacino. I don't know how many times I've read he's one of the best actors on The CW, and unless someone limits their non-Originals CW viewing to Beauty and the Beast, Hart of Dixie and Star-Crossed, that's an incredibly puzzling statement IMO.
ReplyDeleteI quit.
ReplyDeleteTotally off topic, but I adore your icon!!! Steph Brown is the queen!
ReplyDeletewow, I have never watched The Originals yet but the show must be very fragile if so many people want to quit because one actress quit. No offense to anyone, just saying
ReplyDeleteI only started watching because of Elijah, I love DG, never a Morgan fan.
ReplyDeleteI fear this will be bad for the show, I even wonder, had this news come out earlier if they would've renewed the show so fast
ReplyDeleteI've said before that bringing in Morgan as the all-powerful Klaus after having already introduced Gillies/Elijah was a big misstep in TVD. Morgan can't hold a candle to Gillies in terms of screen presence, charisma and even menace. Granted, he had to deal with much worse writing... a millenia-old vamp and then hybrid acting like a bratty, whiny child and throwing temper tantrums. But even Matt Davis as Klaus was way better, he had that crazy twinkle in his eyes and a dark, foreboding charm (that scene where he makes Katherine stab herself repeatedly in the leg... shiver). Morgan was simply out of his depth playing some mega-villain who's supposed to strike terror in everyone's hearts. I take it in The Originals (which I don't watch) they're actually trying to redeem him and make him all cuddly, and while I guess that's a better use of the actor's skills than making him portray the Big Bad, it's still lame.
ReplyDeleteThis is one of the things that kill me about Klaus (and Klaus apologists)... the claim that his character is supposedly all about family and always wanted to reunite with his siblings. WTF? He loved them so much that he kept them mummified in a box? Months for Elijah, 90+ years for Rebekah, freaking centuries for Kol and Finn... ugh, all the love Klaus gets drives me bananas.
ReplyDeleteI said from the get-go that I won't watch The Originals because I hate Klaus' guts. (He's a big part of why I quit TVD after Season 3.) A friend tried to convince me to watch by saying it's equally about all 3 siblings, Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah. Well, I admittedly love Elijah and kinda like Rebekah. But... now Bex is gone, and I take it Elijah's role could diminsh due to DG becoming a father and having a commitment to another show. Soooooo, the chance that I would ever check out The Originals has just dropped from 1% to more like 0.1%. I'm just going to keep fantasizing about Klaus meeting an extremely horrific, grisly demise along with the Klaus-lusting pod alien that kidnapped Carolinte Forbes and took her place on TVD 2 years ago.
ReplyDeleteI like my bad guys to be a character that I LOVE TO HATE. Klaus has nothing to love for me. Elijah is played so calm and cool and so very bad if need be that I find myself drawn in. I loved Alaric, but Matt as Klaus was just awesome. I have enjoyed TO much better than TVD, but still not a Klaus fan.
ReplyDeletebecause imho he treated her worse than he treated Davina, and he only met her like 8 months ago. They are supposed to be this epic couple but i just don't see it. And the fact that he grew up in her presence and she fell in love with him always freaked me out. With Davina i actually saw him care but not with Rebekah. He chose literally anything but her: power, his people, Davina, Cami, NOLA, klaus. I don't believe that an Original vampire would (or should) let such an insult slide.
ReplyDeleteElijah and Klaus' romance aspects are treated accordingly to their status as main characters, while Rebekah has become a joke: hooking her up with random werewolf was probably a last straw.
Her storylines wouldn't look so bad if we didnt compare her to her brothers, each of them had their glorious badass moments.
Sad. I'll miss her. I hope she comes back for guest spots at least.
ReplyDeleteThere quite a lot of characters on TO right now can also quit any time they want.
ReplyDeleteI will be more upset if they kill off Kieran than over losing Claire.
I am very sad about this. She was my favorite part about TVD Season 4 and one of the the main reasons I checked out The Originals in the first place. I like the show but not as much as I did in the early fall when I was on fire with it, so I am not sure I will continue watching next year as my pile of shows continues to get bigger and bigger, considering that she was still, by far, my favorite part about the show. It's really disappointing and odd, you don't just cut your female lead like that.
ReplyDeleteThis is very disappointing. Klaus is tolerable only with someone like Rebekah or Caroline around. Cami is poor substitute, if that is what's intended. I'll have to see, but I don't think this show will hold my attention as much with Rebekah gone.
ReplyDeleteCount me in as very disappointed that Claire Holt is leaving (as a regular) although I wish her the best in her future endeavors. Although with Elijah, Rebekah is my favorite Original. She, along with David Gillies as a Regular, are the only I started watching TO. Cami is deadly dull and Davina not more bearable. IA with your assessment of Klaus; no doubt the show intends to rely more heavily on Cami 'humanizing' Klaus' (until Klaus and Haley's daughter is born, that is -likely as part of the season finale cliffee).
ReplyDeleteI'll continue TO but it will to have a jaw dropping season finale for me to watch S2. I'm not a big fan of any of the witches on TO.
ReplyDeleteI'm speaking only for myself of course but I disliked Klaus on TVD and as I said above the only reason I decided to watch TO at all was because both Claire and David Gillies (Elijah) were regulars for S1.
ReplyDeleteReading between the lines - here and on TVBTN -I guess that's what occurred - Holt only signed on for a set number of episodes in S1 and was not bound by the usual 6 year contract. I wish I knew ahead of time though, with her leaving as a Regular and David Gillies having another show commitment, I wouldn't have started watching TO in the first place (I don't blame Claire though :) ).
ReplyDeleteSaving Hope, a Canadian medical show. I believe DG is a regular there and has to split time between the two shows.
ReplyDeleteWow didn't know that. Quite a work load.
ReplyDeleteHere here!
ReplyDeleteWHAT?? That is a complete shock to me!!
ReplyDeleteI love Klaus, unlike many of you, and I like both Hayley and Elijah so I will keep watching, but it is really sad news. Rebekah is a good character and will be missed a lot.
Cami and the witches is of no interest to me, so I hope that some new, more interesting characters will come to town. Would love to see Caroline in NO (not liking TVD anymore).
That was exactly my reaction. Actually, I think, everyone's. Talk about a shocking news.
ReplyDeleteRose McIlver has just been announced as cast as the IZombie lead
ReplyDeleteI am simply asking out of curiosity, why is this consistently being bumped up to the front page of SpoilerTV? It's the third or fourth time I've seen it ending up on the front page without any "Update" listed next to it.
ReplyDeletethe worse thing that could happen in TO....no words...
ReplyDeletePopular post.
ReplyDeleteI keep checking it thinking there is an update as to why she left, seems so random
ReplyDeleteWe often move popular/trending posts back to the top of the site as the majority of SpoilerTV readers access just the homepage. This way people can see important/trending articles. If there is no update in the title then you'll know that there is no update to the article.
ReplyDeleteHope that helps explain it.
Ahh, I see. Thank you for explaining! :)
ReplyDeleteI was wondering why that happened to posts myself, cheers for explaining!
ReplyDeletewait WHAT.
ReplyDeleteHow much does this departure have to do with reports of Claire Holt expect a baby in real life? I have read some report that she is pregnant .
ReplyDeleteI'm the same I've always been on Team Elijah.
ReplyDeleteIt's either she wanted to move on to another project or it's about her being pregnant.
ReplyDeleteI'm personally hoping they pull a Charmed and reveal there's another sister (half-sister?) somewhere, even though Rebekah/Claire can't really be replaced.
ReplyDeleteWe NEED another female lead.
they are going to pull a buffy/angel and, as when Cordelia got written out (of Angel) they brought in Spike, they will bring in Carolina where we know she was going to end up anyways.
ReplyDeleteWhat has he said about the show?
ReplyDeleteyeah, his tone is quite interesting in the interview. I agree with him for the most part, that the character needs to get over it....at the end of the day his brother has not demonstrated that he cares for him in any way...same goes for his child for that matter. I think the interview is more of a prod, to get people and esp. fans thinking about the character.....it is clear that the character has the potential for greatness, a greatness that needs to be explored.
ReplyDeleteIt's a little bit early for an April Fool's joke, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHe is a pretty good actor....better then alot of them on the The CW....to be fair....however, I do agree that there needs to be more subplots that are not all about the character Klaus. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out.
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDeleteSorry, I laugh cause this is a raging debate amongst my friends and myself. However, regardless....she was one of my favorites and the powers that be failed to utilize her very well on the show.
I can't stand him either. Ugh, this was my exact thought when I watched the show and then read the reports on buzz.
ReplyDeleteOr she just wanted to be able to act in more then one show. Which would be hard if she stayed in an iron clad contract to be only on the Originals.....
ReplyDeleteI am totally in agreement....I think the show planned to be canned after twelve epis...and the current characters worked for that....however, with the season pickup and new season signed...they will probably change directions with respect to story....TVD went through the same thing, if folks remember, when it first started.
ReplyDeleteomg are you kidding me....this is hilarious.....folks do realize that Nina plays both Katherine and Elena....
ReplyDeletehilarical!
I am in total agreement on this.....get a witch to cast a spell and poof new actress....
ReplyDeleteI've liked Morgan since Hex but Klaus is an awful person who deserves a heavy dose of karma soon.
ReplyDeleteHayley as the female lead is bloody abysmal. Either bring in a new female character or give Camille more to do.
ReplyDeletethis is really confusing cause there weren't any rumors, there's /always/ whispers when an actor is leaving. has there been an official statement from Claire or the CW?
ReplyDeleteThey brought in Genevieve and I think they're supposed to introduce a new female character in the next episode named Francesca.
ReplyDeleteWhat other show? Daniel's on another show? I didn't know that.
ReplyDeleteHe's a series regular on Saving Hope. The medical drama aired on NBC for the duration of season one but was only renewed in Canada where it's a legitimate hit. It was just renewed again for a third season.
ReplyDeleteWow. Well i'll be damned. Ugh! does that mean, that most of the time we'll have to watch a "Klaus" show??? B/c i wouldn't like that at all.
ReplyDeleteIf you'll recall, for the first handful of episodes of season one, Elijah was stuck in a box. That's because he was still filming Saving Hope. You can probably expect a similar absence next season.
ReplyDeleteYeah I remember. He was gone for about 4 episodes.ButI didn't know it was b/c of that. Hmm thanks for the info. And ugh! I'll prepare myself for that next season.
ReplyDeleteGenevieve is a recurring villain and we know nothing about this Francesca other than she appears as a guest star in the next episode. We'll have to see, but Hayley is a bit of a nothing character.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if she is supposed to be a villain or not. She was the most sympathetic resurrected witch (IMO) and it seemed like she only had a grudge against Rebekah & Marcel. We don't really know what she's going to do it yet but she could side with Klaus against Marcel.
ReplyDeleteWHAT???
ReplyDeleteNO, come on... I love Rebekah, she is the best female character on the show, the only one that I truly like. Her dinamic with her brothers is great, as her scenes with Hayley and Marcel.
You know I was hoping for the sister things too, klaus's sister. The story will be still centered between family as opposite to bringing caroline and not to mention how boring she is.
ReplyDeleteClaire can do whatever she wants but it think this will ruined her career as well as the show, this is the second time she exist a tv show as one of the lead actors, she did it with H2O too. If I was a director and see all this I will not hire for a tv show because I know she can't commit.
ReplyDeleteAs for the show the show was about the originals, centered around family now and although the character of rebekah became boring and anoying after seeing her make the same mistakes over and over again from TVD to TO she will still be missed.
If she was going to exit the show why start at all, why not let Kol take her place with some kind of resurection spell, it could have been done, It was done for Jeremy.
And besides the witches in the originals seem more powerful, the only thing that can save the show is to bring another character, a female character like klaus's sister from his werewolf family I mean there must be a reason why the writers brought them in the show..
I read an article somewhere that Claire Holt is one of the richest women around. I can't remember for the life of me how she got that ranking or how she was compared so if anyone else remembers seeing that same article online maybe they can re-direct me back to it. I am certainly bummed out that she is leaving the vampire world for now but you can bet your last fang that she will show up down the line in a guest appearance or two.
ReplyDeleteWe get Davina back, so it eases my pain a bit, but where will they go with her. The one witch Genevieve is trying to get her hooks into her. Davina is an ass kicker but for a witch she has a great heart.
ReplyDeleteme too if he leaves I quit, I don't like Klaus at all
ReplyDeleteThe Wrap cites sources that say producers felt "the character was no longer needed in a series regular capacity." Sounds like she was making too much considering the downward ratings spiral. Time for this show to head to standard CW ratings territory (1.0).
ReplyDeleteHer mom said today that she is NOT pregnant! So the only rumor I can believe is that she didn't want to live in Atlanta. She must have a nice bank account to just leave a hit show...a second time!
