CBS ANNOUNCES MULTI-YEAR BROADCAST AGREEMENT FOR “THE BIG BANG THEORY”
Deal Extends Television’s #1 Comedy Through the 2016-2017 Season

CBS announced today a multi-year broadcast renewal for the top-rated, critically acclaimed comedy THE BIG BANG THEORY.

THE BIG BANG THEORY, which is TV’s most-watched comedy and the top-rated broadcast entertainment show among adults 18-49, has been renewed for an additional three years, extending it through the 2016-2017 season.

“Comedy is a big part of our schedule, and THE BIG BANG THEORY is the biggest comedy force on television,” said Nina Tassler, Chairman, CBS Entertainment. “This multi-year deal further strengthens our network’s position for future seasons and marks another chapter in the great partnership CBS enjoys with Warner Bros. Television for delivering audiences the best in comedy. We’re proud to work with and showcase the incredible talents of Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro and this amazing cast every week.”

About THE BIG BANG THEORY:

THE BIG BANG THEORY, which premiered in September 2007, has been television's #1 comedy in viewers since 2010-2011 and continues as the #1 comedy in key demographics for the second straight season. This season, THE BIG BANG THEORY is averaging 19.79 million viewers (+4% versus last year), 6.1/19 in adults 18-49, 7.8/21 in adults 25-54 and 4.5/16 in adults 18-34, ranking as the highest-rated non-sports program in all these demographics.

In addition to being a ratings success, THE BIG BANG THEORY has earned critical acclaim and award recognition. The series has won Emmy Awards for “Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series” for star Jim Parsons (2010, 2011, 2013), a People's Choice Award for “Favorite TV Comedy” (2010, 2013, 2014), Television Critics Association Awards for “Outstanding Achievement in Comedy” (2009, 2013) as well as “Individual Achievement in Comedy” for Parsons (2009). In 2011, Parsons won a Golden Globe for “Best Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy” while Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting also won a 2014 People's Choice Award for “Favorite Comedic Actress.”

THE BIG BANG THEORY stars Johnny Galecki, Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch. Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro and Bill Prady are executive producers. The series is from Chuck Lorre Productions, Inc., in association with Warner Bros. Television. Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady are series creators.

I hear the network and the studio also are in discussions on the other three Chuck Lorre series, with a 13-episode final season of Two And A Half Men eyed along with renewals for next season of Mike & Molly and freshman Mom.

  1. Holy shit. How comes NCIS doesn't get deals like this? It's one of CBS' highest-rated shows!

I gave up on Mike and Molly. I disliked the changes. And a final season for Two and a Half Men seems fair.

  3. Hopefully with this 13 ep final season for 2AHM, they can also pick up TCO for 13 eps to replace it midseason. Wishful thinking! Happy for Mom, hope it gets renewed, been really enjoying it

  7. So they are gonna renew all Chuck Lorre sitcoms?

  8. Definitely seems like it!

  9. Right? I mean it's not an entirely terrible idea. I really wish it would do better ratings wise. It's really so much more enjoyable than the nasty The Millers. Sometimes I wish they would consider quality but this is Hollywood and it's all about the Benjamins

  10. Pretty much assured but in varying instances

  11. No surprises about TBBT and Mom.
Seems fitting to give TAAHM a proper final season.

  12. I really don't see TCO getting a 13 episode order.

  13. My mom will be happy about three more seasons of TBBT to look forward to, and so will my dad.

  14. One can live in suspended disbelief until it's at it's finality

  19. That's great for TBBT, as for Mike and Molly i'm waiting for that renewal but they did a lot things on the show, is like going back to season one.
TAHM having a final season is great, it was not the same without Charlie but they kept it and this season has been really good so far.

  20. NOOOOOO a final season for TAHM????

  21. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!! Great news, I love the show.

  22. I think that all sounds about right. TBBT gets its deserved multi season renewal, TAAHM gets a send off it deserves, M&M and Mom renewed for full seasons.

TCO is likely cancelled, the only unknown(s) is the mid season comedies(s)

  23. Great news, well deserved.

  24. For some reason it seems like Comedies get these kinds of renewals more often than dramas. NCIS may not because of contract difficuulties over the years? Just a guess.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I believe all the cast are signed on until the end of season 12.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I just meant in general NCIS has had issues getting cast members to sign on during negotiations.
