The 100 - Episode 1.03 - Earth Kills - Preview: The darkest episode yet

If you've seen the first two episodes of The 100 and you liked them, you should definitely watch the third episode as well. If you've been doubtful about the show and are not sure whether you liked the first two episodes, I strongly advise you not to give up yet. Because the third episode is so much better. It gets very, very dark! And intense! Oh, and people die!

In this episode Clarke, Finn and Wells head off to find a medicine for Jaspers wounds. However, when people get mad and can't sleep because Jasper is moaning in pain, Bellamy threatens to kill Jasper off. That means the clock starts ticking for the group to find the antibiotics and get back in time. Sadly, an acidic fog intervenes and the trio (not triangle!) is forced to seek shelter. The question is: will they make it back in time for Jasper to survive?

Elsewhere, we meet Charlotte, who is probably the youngest of The 100. This lovable 13-year-old plays an important part in this episode and the next. The thing is, she has nightmares which unables her to sleep at night. There is someone, though, she feels safe with: Bellamy. Bellamy tells Charlotte she shouldn't be afraid and encourages her to fight her fear. However, Charlotte takes this a bit too literally which leads her to take somewhat of a drastic measure to get rid of her nightmares.

What's more, people die in this episode. Yes, people is plural, meaning more than one. I can't say how many people die, I can't tell how they die, I can't reveal where they die (Earth or Ark). But I can give you this: one of the deaths pretty much shocked me as it's quite a key character that bites the dust. Also, look at the title ("Earth Kills") and see how it suggests that these people don't die of natural causes.

As I wrote before, this is a very dark episode. You might take this literally, because the episode both starts and ends during the night. But figuratively, it's a dark episode because of what happens to the characters, what Earth does do them and what they do to each other, both on Earth and on the Ark.

Here are a few more teasers of episode 3:
-We will learn how Wells was involved in the death of Clarke's father.
-One of Bellamy's closest assistants insults him which might cause some tension between the two.
-There is a football match. Hmmm, wonder who will win?
-Bellamy isn't the brave leader you think he is. In fact, he finds himself unable to fulfil a heavy task after which Clarke steps in and does it.
-We get to see how the process of floating works. Gulp!
-In the shelter, Clarke, Finn and Wells find something that is probably way past the expiration date.

The third episode of The 100 airs this Wednesday, 9|8c, on The CW. Watch the promo for the episode below.

  6. Yeah, Kane certainly keeps pressuring the Counsil to reduce population so it will be interesting to see where that leads to.

  9. This is the episode that convinced me that The 100 had it in it to be a great show, and the following episodes only get better from there
