The second episode of The 100 airs this Wednesday, 9|8c, on The CW
The second episode of The 100 is a goodie. Just like the series premiere, a lot happens in a short timespan, with a growing level of intensity. We learn a bit more about a few of the characters, and we see who is willing to thrive, not just survive.
"Earth Skills" picks up right from where last week's series premiere ended. Clarke, Finn, Monty and Octavia high-tail it back to the base camp, minus Jasper who was hit with a spear after crossing the river on a swing made from a vine. Clarke assembles a search party comprised of some surprising faces in order to rescue Jasper. The search is fraught with danger, with a couple of the characters' lives nearly ended
On board the Ark, the pressure on the Council increases with each and every passing day, as you will see in a scene in which the Council meet to discuss further lifesaving measures. Councilman Kane is not impressed by Abby's actions to save Chancellor Jaha, which halted his ascent to power. The pressure is also on Abby to find an explanation as to why so many of the 100 appear to be dying, while others remain in good health.
The chemistry begins to blossom between two potential couples, Bellamy works hard to maintain his status as de facto leader, and Abby sets a challenging task to someone who wasn't seen in the series premiere. And finally, a grounder is sighted for the first time.
If the series premiere got you hooked, then "Earth Skills" will ensure that hook adds a line and sinker. The episode does an excellent job following on from the series premiere, but having personally seen the next four, I can tell you that The 100 only gets better, and that the best is definitely yet to come.
