Kinda weird that Firefly isn't on the list, yet Dead Like Me is.
ReplyDeleteThey have both had movies (even though DLM:LAD is an abomination of the series)
Honourable mention - Corner Gas, Stargate Universe
Anyone know why the thumbs up and down are showing up randomly filled in when I open any of these pages?
ReplyDeleteIt used to happen to me too. Go to the ranker website and you'll find your randomly signed into someones account (dunno why). Log out then back into your own account manually and it'll be fine.
ReplyDeleteI love Buffy but unless the cast and Joss were involved then no thanks (and really I can't see that happening)
ReplyDeleteChuck, Fringe, Lost, BSG, Breaking Bad, Six Feet Under, The Wire really do not need movies at all. They ended well, they wrapped things up it makes no sense at all to make movies out of them.
So really out of the ones listed then Pushing Daisies and Alphas (that cliffhanger!!!) because they have more stories to tell.
Not every show that has ended/cancelled needs to come back, sometimes its better to leave them alone.
A lot of great shows on the list but what made them special was the format of TV, I don't think they would work as a movie, even if I would love to see more of the characters again. Those that started out as movies could probably go back to movie format?
ReplyDeleteChuck would have an amazing movie, I'm sure, the story can continue following the events of the finale.
ReplyDeleteA Fringe movie would also be kind of great depending on what they do with the material, I'm sure they can do something like Peter and Olivia going on a quest to find Walter in the future, it would be intresting.
Pushing Daisies MUST have a movie, mini-series, webseries, anything at all so it can conclude its storyline. It needs: 1) Let us know who Ned's father is, why he abandoned him and why he came back and 2) Let Ned and Chuck touch!!!!! I really hated ABC for cancelling such a lovely show, my all time favorite comedy... DAMN IT ABC! THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS!
Farcape and Dark Angel - two unfairly cancelled genre shows.
ReplyDeleteI Love Desperae Housewives, Gossip Girl and Friends, but these three shows were closed perfectly.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, I think that 90210 and Ugly Betty needs a better conclusion.
And Gilmore Girls DEFINITELY needs a movie, I realy want a movie with Lorelai, Rory and everyone from Stars Hollow.
Ammy Sherman-Palladino, PLEASE! WE WANT A GILMORE GIRLS MOVIE.
Flashforward
ReplyDeleteBorgias.
ReplyDeleteGilmore Girls, One Tree Hill and Moonlight
ReplyDeleteI would love a Seinfeld movie because I hated the final episode, but I can't imagine 90 minutes of nothing...that might just be too much.
ReplyDeleteI however, would go see a GG movie in a heartbeat! The worst part about SOAPNet going away was the 3-hour block of GG on the weekends since I'm at work when it's on ABC Family during the week.
I'd love to see Peta Wilson back as Nikita..
ReplyDeleteit would be good if they did something to give an ending to My Name Is Earl.. they just left everyone hanging on that last ep..
ReplyDelete#1Chuck,
ReplyDeleteAlso, Moonlight, Fringe & Dark Angel.
Probably because the question is more what shows you want movies of and not what shows already have movies made. Stargate Atlantis needs the wrap up movie we were promised when it was cancelled to make room for Universe!
ReplyDeleteI feel like they should do this when shows get canceled without being to close off the way they want to
ReplyDeleteIt was good to see Moonlight on the list. If ever there was a show that should not have been cancelled and should have at least been allowed an ending, it was this one.
ReplyDeleteSo many. The only shows I thought that ended well I would like to see a movie of would be Fringe and Nikita - so long as the movies didn't kill anyone and it ended even better than the series end.
ReplyDeleteShows that didn't end well that should have had/should have a movie: Dark Angel, Jericho, and Terra Nova.
If season 3 hadn't existed I could have gone for a Kyle XY movie.
Why touch Charmed? In less the movie would be about the kids, I don't need more. It had a great ending - the most satisfying I've watched yet.
I thought the Nikita finale was great, considering they were only given six episodes to wrap things up.
ReplyDeleteI actually voted down 24. As much as I still consider it to be the best show I've watched, as a movie I wouldn't see it working. Redemption (the TV movie) was pretty awful.
ReplyDeleteI agree. That's why I placed it and Fringe under the "ended well" but would still like a movie section. It would have been great to see even more. That's all.
ReplyDeleteAh, sorry, misinterpreted the last bit of your comment :)
ReplyDeleteI've never seen Fringe so can't comment. I think, from where Nikita ended, there isn't anywhere it could really go - or needs to go.
Who ever remembered October Road...I like you!
ReplyDeleteNikita left Amanda alive, so I could definitely see a movie about her escaping and raising hell. To me, every episode of Nikita was so cinematic; I think it belongs on the screen. Of course, I'm biased because it was my favorite show ever lol.
ReplyDeleteOne Tree Hill and Dark Angel
ReplyDeleteThey already made the Firefly movie - Serenity. I thought it was really good and wrapped-up a lot of the loose ends. They've also made a Law & Order movie because I remember watching it - it's called Exiled.
ReplyDeleteI think movies work better for shows that were cancelled and have loose-ends that need to be wrapped up (like the case was with Firefly). Shows like Battlestar Galactica, Stargate: Atlantis, Buffy & Roswell I've always felt like really came to an end and felt like a series finale so I'm not sure that a movie would really work. Whereas a show like The Secret Circle or Terra Nova were cancelled after the first season so there would more story to tell there because they didn't really wrap-up so I'd be more interested in seeing a movie for those.
I actually thought Atlantis ended well. They left Pegasus and made their way back to Earth so there so it felt pretty final to me (we weren't left hanging) - I believe the movie was going to be about a return trip to Pegasus so it could have been good and I was disappointed it was never made but I felt okay with how the series ended.
ReplyDeleteOn what planet is the city of Atlantis sitting in the middle of the San Francisco bay, the wraith still a threat and Teyla's kid back in another galaxy considered final!!? It's the epitomy of a series that didn't get a chance to wrap up! The fact that the title of the screenplay was "extinction" in itself says that there were a abundance of loose ends to tie
ReplyDeleteFor me the premise was exploring Pegasus and dealing with what was going on there - so when they landed on Earth it was sort of the end of that story-line. I would watch a movie about them going back to Pegasus and all but some of these other shows I felt like she ended with no resolution and for me Atlantis & SG-1 both sort of came to some sort of end in a way that I didn't really feel like Universe did (I was most displeased with the way Universe ended).
ReplyDeleteShows where a Movie Will work out:
ReplyDeleteHeroes (Long Movie or 2 movies), Dexter( a better ending Movie)
Alphas (Long movie - come on give me an ending to that)
Breakout Kings (I can guess what happens but maybe a movie to complete it with one big catch would be good so I can have a satisfied collection of it)
House (A movie so the main character doesn't have to walk away)
Terra Nova (Long movies or 2 movies (or part of RRoR) if it wasn't for big budget this show could of done well with scifi fans who don't nitpic)
I sometimes wish some networks would think like meh no really good pilots to pick up this year, and not for themselves to pick on to give show, even tho they feel it will fail, and would just instead enact The Random Renewal or Remake plan (Pick a resent show cancelled and say Duck it its back)
RRoR Candidates. -Random Renewal or Remake-
Moonlight - Random Renewal, actors are reasonably still young to play the same part.
Lie to me - Random Renewal, still better then some stuff new episodic series that are on now, and people are coming up with.
Eureka - Random Renewal, had a satisfiable ending but it could of gone on, and if it did, this time don't keep reaching in the past for plot, stick with the future plot that was abandoned early.
Stargate - Random Remake, time to start a new series remake or a different time period or anything I miss them adventures.
Human Target - Random Renewal or Remake, both ways would be good, I still think they gave up to early on this, it picked up for the better in rating for the last half of the season. If a remake this time add some long arcs between the episodic.
Journeyman - Random Remake, too far to do a renewal, so remake it that was an interesting show, I can guess what happens next, but I still want to know what they wanted to happen next, and more then that just see a main character use his time travel powers for whatever episodic problem.
How is "Kings" with Ian McShane not on the list!?
ReplyDeleteAt the top of my list would be Charmed! Would love to see a "Years Later" lookback. I never cared about That Girl From TBBT much so if she died (i never finished charmed so uh i assume she didnt die) and the sisters have to come back into action, I'd dig that. Actually just make 7 more seasons of Charmed.
ReplyDeleteI would take a Fringe film because I think they could make a case big enough to fill a film, but maybe a time-travelling parallel parallel universe mashup, Days of Future Past style. I don't think you could make a satisfying canonical true continuation after the nice ending of S5.
Alphas NEEDS a film, like, someone slap whoever cancelled it on that cliffhanger upside the head, please! And then make them greenlight a film/"Peacekeeper Wars" season resolution, please!!
is it weird that everything was disliked and liked when I opened this. I had to change everything, can it be that someone hacked me?
ReplyDeleteFRINGE!
ReplyDeletesmallville ahahah
ReplyDeleteChuck, Pushing Daisies, and Happy Endings!
ReplyDeleteYeaa i was logged in into someone elses account. I logged out but how do I log in without signing up. My spoilertv account thingy is connected to twitter
ReplyDeleteSeems to be a bug with Ranker. Just goto www.ranker.com and log out and it should be fine.
ReplyDeleteStill doesnt work. I vote but whenever I refresh my vote is gone. Its fine, one vote doesnt do much anyways :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not then I'm afraid. Maybe you could try contacting Ranker support. We have no control over their system I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteJericho for sure!
ReplyDeleteI love NIKITA SO MUCH! all the actors are incredible, like MaggieQ ShaneWest and DevonSawa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I miss the intriguing plotlines and the chemistry and love the team had together! #NikitaForever!!! it would also make a fantastic movie!
ReplyDeleteJust in a quick look at this list, some shows are repeated.
ReplyDeletePainkiller Jane & Martial Law twice, Las Vegas FOUR times somehow.
Someone needs to purge this list of the repeats.
Thanks, I'll go through and tidy it up shortly.
ReplyDeleteThe Nanny (show from Fran Drescher) and Desperate Housewives. It was not cancelled, but i want it.
ReplyDeleteIt works now. I guess it was just a bug yesterday
ReplyDeleteForever Charmed.
ReplyDeleteGhost whisperers finished really badly, it didn't explain anything and was a very poor final season. It needs something to pull it together and tie up all the loose ends! Id love a one tree hill one film and a my name is earl film. I loved both programs :D
ReplyDeleteNIKITA!
ReplyDeleteJeffrey Donovan made an appearance on the Today show last year and
ReplyDeletespecifically stated that Burn Notice was NOT cancelled. He said that
they had decided basically it was just time to wrap it up. They didn’t
want to be one of those shows that dragged out too long. If they would
have done that, then came the possibility they would get cancelled on
before they got to see the show end on their terms, the way they wanted
it to end. That interview is still on the Today show website.
I want to see more chuck and I really wish they would finally end my name is earl.
ReplyDeleteNIKITA forever! I love this show!!!
ReplyDeleteCharmed and Terra Nova
ReplyDeleteXENA WARRIOR PRINCESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteXena was ahead of its time, so there should be a movie now. Buffy, I'd love to see a second Firefly, Leverage and Stargate: Universe, which ended well and would be well suited for a movie.
ReplyDeleteXena:Warrior Princess deserves a movie ASAP!!! That show had the WORST ending a television show could have! Really need to bring it back and give the show a proper send off!
ReplyDeleteI love Charmed, but the show ran long enough and the ending was great. A movie won't be necessary. I guess, Farscape, Xena and Deadwood need a movie more.
ReplyDeleteXENA! Hands down! What a great show - action, adventure, romance, a good moral grounding in fighting for the greater good! Not to mention some seriously cool bad guys! And it would be just as popular today if revamped properly without loosing what we all loved most about the show! And non of the re-casting business. LL & ROC are certainly not over the hill yet! :)
ReplyDeleteTHE PEOPLE ARE TALKING - BRING XENA BACK!! :D
More than a decade that we are waiting for Xena's return.. so Yes... A XENA MOVIE would be awesome now, with all the original Cast & Crew, because the success of this show is due to all of them. Wake up Universal... Xenites all over the world deserve a better ending, for maybe a new generation after, but.. a better ending. We need it, and we deserve it. Too long that we fight now.. we were patient enough, and although this patience, the fanbase continue to grow up, and you to earn money due to these franchise.
ReplyDelete2014 - The Xena year, for a Xena Movie with Lucy Lawless and Renee O'Connor. Wake Up Universal!
Xena: Warrior Princess. We need a proper ending to a great show. The ending we got at the end of the show was just stupid.
ReplyDeleteFirefly has already been made into a film. I think that's the reason it's not on here. That said, I would love to see Serenity 2!
ReplyDeleteXena. We need Xena! We miss her and the current generation needs to know what a real female action hero can be like.
ReplyDeleteThe answer is Xena. For many reasons, such as: a huge fanbase ready to give almost everything to see this happen; the cast and main actresses ready to reprise their role and do a gret work (and lucrative...Universal, this is for you :D), and the fact that something went wrong during the last episode of the show...so it would just be RIGHT to give Tapert and Co another chance!
ReplyDeleteMerlin;
ReplyDeleteFriends;
Breaking Bad;
Torchwood;
Pushing Daisies;
Chuck;
I'd prefer to see movies made from series that did NOT have closure in their finales.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind seeing a series featuring Sam and Jessie.
ReplyDeleteXENA ALL THE WAY!!!
ReplyDeleteALL I WANT IS A CHUCK MOVIE OR A SEASON 6 BRING IT BACK NBC ASAP!!
ReplyDeleteThe Borgias
ReplyDeleteI vote for Legend of the Seeker! Rahl still needs to give Sister Nicci her nice warm bath! Bwahaha!
ReplyDeleteBuffy started as a movie.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.imdb.com/title/tt0103893/
A lot of the items on this list do not meet the criterion: "TV Shows that have been canceled"
ReplyDeleteLost, Chuck, One Tree Hill, and many others, were not canceled. those shows came to a natural conclusion, and simply ended because the show had run its course.
Some of these shows have actually already been renewed for a new season, like Elementary.
Also, some of these shows have neither been cancelled nor renewed, like Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., though it is likely that show in particular will be picked up for season 2.
The series that deserves to be brought back more than any other is Legend of the Seeker, given that there are 12 other books in the series of novels by Terry Goodkind left that could be developed for the screen.
Why is Person of Interest on this!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Borgias, Gilmore Girls, Carnivale, Joan of Arcadia
ReplyDeleteBring back the BORGIAS PLEASE.
ReplyDeleteThe Borgias
ReplyDeleteHi all from the good old UK..... Please can you help us keep the BORGIAS at 1st place and for those over (15 yrs old) cos there is lots of naughtiness... if u haven't seen series one then I really suggest u do.... Cos then u will be hooked.
ReplyDeleteMy son is 19 and was adamant that it WASN'T for him. However, I won a bet with him and my terms were that he HAD to watch the 1st three episodes of the BORGIAS ..... and if it still didn't float his boat then I would shut up about it.
That was 3 weeks ago and we have started watching Series 3 last night.
Save the Borgias for sure! We need a Season 4!!!! I want to see more between Cesare and Lucrezia- and what happens to Katerina Sfoza?
ReplyDelete
